Elves and poll!

I don't know of any images that clearly show the elves in game.

I am not at all versed in WH lore.

What can I expect tht elves to look like?

Warcraf? - unnatural skin and hair colour - athletic build

Oblivion? - oddly shaped eyes, high foreheard

LOTR? - basically thin humans with pointed ears.

Generally speaking they are considered tall, slender and with pointed ears.

Anyone wanna speculate or describe them from WH lore or the table top game?

Well, they haven't come out with any screenies yet for the elves/dark elves yet.  I would imagine them to be thinner more graceful humans with the long pointy ears, more elaborate armors and weapons.

    Mythic homepage

Watch the Cinematic Trailer.  It shows some elves fighting.

They are creating the avatars to resemble the miniature figurines used for the table top game. If you want to learn more about the look of the elves go to this link: http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=301049&orignav=13&GameNav=13

Mythic is still developing the Elves. I can tell you they will have an art style very much like this:

The High Elves and Dark Elves will look like the ones from the table top game. Here are a few more pictures to get a good feel for the look.

Apart from the style Adythiel showed with images, they're supposed to be a lot taller than regular humans and a lot thinner. I saw somewhere (sorry, don't remember where so can't prove it) that their height would be like 1.5 of a human, and like 3/4ths of them in width. Something like that, anyway lol

    Warhammer geek incoming:

Warhammer Elves are taller than humans and much thinner, with longer limbs. They have hard angular features, pointed ears, slanted almond shaped eyes and move with a grace that many humans find haunting and a bit unnerving to witness.

    Go Chaos!!

Ill pretty much GAURANTEE that no race will be under represented. They already said they would make ways to ballance out the amount of people wanting to play a race. Like if it looks like everyone is going to roll Chaos, elves and and Empire get +1% dmage when fighting chaos, looks like too many people playing high elves? Elven scale is weak against slashing weapons. Destruction has alot of axes blades. or even making A certain class more appealing thats for a certain race so more people will play it.

It wont be like other games, where 80% of 1 faction are undead and trolls are a myth.

    Poor Dwarfs

    Destruction FTW?

Quick question. is there female choice? only female i saw was a dark elve.

  • ArathArath Member Posts: 119

Chamber of course there are female choices. For everything except Orcs (or Greenskins) which get Goblins in their stead (not that a Goblin is akin to a female). We have seen images of Empire, Chaos and Dwarf females. The newest newsletter includes some amazing screenshots for the Empire and Chaos:

Well if the rumours of "advanced classes" are true, then Dwarfs will be the only race to get: SLAYERS

If true, that should give the stunties a bit of extra lovin'

Onlything we've heard about Slayers, is that they won't be in at release. But they will probably be part of an advanced classes system in an expansion.

So don't hold your breath. It can be YEARS until Slayers are implemented.

I still want my Skaven Plague Monk.  But alas, guess I need to get over that.

I voted Chaos, and frankly I'm not surprised no one picked Dwarves yet.  Aside from Slayers, there were never any Dwarf units I liked in the TT game.  I was always a big fan of fast strike hit and run type combat, not standing around in a big group twiddling my thumbs and waiting for enemy to come to me.  Oh well, to each his own.  My vote might change after I see what classes the Elves get though.

Aww man, I know how you feel. I was so pumped about seeing Skaven when whatchoomacallit was designing it. Oh well, that's what expansions are for, right? And speaking of expansions, Mythic could do a TON, especially if they only release two races like WOW did. I would be absolutely thrilled to see like 2 Order and Destruction races included in an expansion. Vampire Counts and Skaven, and Bretonnia and... Wood Elves? Come to think of it, Order has a  lot fewer races than destruction O_o

What are these superior slayers you guys are talking about?

Mythic has said we will never see Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings as playable races. There are too many things that prevent such from happening. An entire Undead army from either faction is held together purely by the power of the Vampire Count or the Tomb King in charge of it. They would be too powerful for a player to control in a PvP based game. Skaven, Lizardmen, Bretonnians, Wood Elves, Beastmen of Chaos, Chaos Dwarves, Ogre Kingdoms, still lots of growth for this game. And as a side note, Lizardmen are not a Destruction race, they'd end up on the side of Order.

Not true. This is a misundertanding that's been floating around ever since an unfortunate chat log was posted. The chat log was edited a bit wrongly and the Dev was actually answering a question about Halfling, not Vampire Counts.

Mark Jacobs, HAS however said this on the subject:

"FYI, I would love to have all the Chaos gods just as I would love to have seen the Vampire Counts and Skaven at release."

"Vampire Counts, I so, so wanted to do them for release. They are going to be soooo cool to do when the time comes."

  • Trick5terTrick5ter Member Posts: 22
Thank you, I was getting scared there for  a second. Well besides that, you're certain Lizardmen would be Order? All I ever read or hear about them is dealing with Brettonian adventurers who stray too close to their temples...
  • ColdmeatColdmeat Member UncommonPosts: 3,409

I don't know about "more popular", but if I had to guess, I'd say Chaos, and Dark Elves would be the two races to stay the hell away from. They definitely get my vote for 'Races Most Likely To Attract Goths, Psychopaths, Asstards, and Manginas'.

I'm gonna stick with Empire, or Dwarf. I will make an alt Orc, though, just for being launched at castle walls from catapults.
