WOW will be around for the next 10 years or more. PRetty soon you will see children playing it on hand held devices at the airport. 2016 election presidential winner will be president of the largest wow guild.

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
So UO is still around, yet most of the servers are empty now. Existing is not dominating.
At the rate they are releasing expansions, someone is going to come along and steal alot of their playerbase.
Have you noticed even LOTRO has 600k+ early purchasers? Bet there is a significant portion of ex wow players there.
Since BC is just more of the same, you either pvp or raid at endgame, a lot of people are looking for something else.
I would not be so cocky if I were you, you just might find yourself sitting in Ironforge, twiddling your thumbs in an empty city.
Pats are gonna go 19-0 2008-2009 season
In ten years... all the WoW players will be around 20ish.... does that mean no more crap community in WoW?!??!?!
WOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2017 CANT GET HERE FAST ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just cancelled my WoW account last night. My heart wasn't in it any longer. Really good game but it was just my time to leave it.
Waiting for AoC and War now.
People will not quit wow to play Warhammer or AOC. The people who will play those games are the trolsl on these boards who sit around with nothing to do.
Wow will cont. to grow. Every year the amount of freshmen at every highschool across america who play wow grows at a faster rate. What this means is that when i was a senior in highschool there were maybe 10 or so kids total who played wow. Now in a highschool of 2000 there are on average atleast 500 kids who play wow. This is on average in schools north of chicago. I imagine in other places its alot less. This number is getting bigger. They just started a wow club at new trier with a total fo 700 members.
Seriously wow is so popular they offer wow game design study courses.
OWNED!!!
I actually think WoW is pretty safe through the end of 2008. Even if a game that has more appeal comes out in the 3Q 2008..not enough time left in the year to make a substantial dent in WoW's subscriber base. Nope...if I were you I would bet on any real competition for WoW coming out 4Q 2008 for Christmas, meaning 2009 is your year.
Haha Join the Club, WoW= Waiting on Warhammer
WoW sucks its going to lose most of it's player by the end of this year and the beggining of next year to AoC and WAR the expansion just made people restart again and once you hit 70 it's the same shit all over again either pvp or end game raid either way you have to put massive amounts of time in it to get good gear and if you dont have good gear you suck pretty much.
Talking about playing on mobile, you should check out this game:
http://www.shadowoflegend.com/web/
This is the only real MMORPG that you can play on a mobile device, as well as on PC. The close beta is coming this month. I think we probably will not see the mobile version of WOW any time soon.
a) You're going to an extremely geeky or retarded high school where everyone is either an MMO freak or just really stupid.
b) They will all, without exemption (of those who overplay, the majority) fail their courses as a result of overplaying and will end up job less. Job less means they won't be able to pay for their WoW account and will have to stop playing. Though judging by WoW addicts they'd rather go without food than their silly game.
c) This is the most likely one: you're lying.
I mean come on, I go to a high school in Belgium and of 1300 people only THREE, that's THREE play any MMOs, and I've actually ran an official poll, by the way that's not including me, i've given up on MMOs. I've realised that for the time being there are no good MMOs out there (except eve but i've had enough of that one) and have gone back to normal gaming. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl is awesome atm.
Oh and no one would offer WoW game design study courses for several simple reasons: People who PLAY wow and those who DESIGN it are very different people. I bet you hardly any of the devs play their game because they know just how shallow and repetitive it is having given a target to design a cookie cutter MMO. And I also bet you that no one who takes WoW seriously and spends a large proprtion of their time playing would ever end up in the gaming industry (at least to a successful extent). Because by the time they graduate (hopefully) games of such low standards as WoW won't be in developement anymore and just wouldn't cut it.
I mean let's face it, most WoW players have never played MMOs or computer games in general before. It's their first game and they have no ability to compare. If they had the same history in gaming as say I do (very many FPS, RTS, RPG, MMO, etc.) over the last 8 years then they would realise that WoW is an old game by any non-MMO standards.
It's graphics match FPS graphics of games like Half Life 1 back in 1998. The gameplay grind and lack of possibilities can be equated to RPG's like Diablo 1. The community can be equated to the elitists of Counter Strike, although they're probably worse. What else is there in an MMO? Innovation? Wow hasn't innovated a single concept, not ONE feature in Wow hasn't been done before.
The only thing that could promote Wow is ignorance and foolishness. Peer pressure cannot yet be counted (those numbers you quote are most likely false) because gaming is only now becomign accepted in general, and most people don't even know what an MMO is so you'll likely be tagged as a geek/nerd.

This is the precise reason the industry is so interested in WoW from an analytical standpoint...the first time player, the "holy grail" of MMO's....everyone kept shuffling the same 500k-1mil hardcore players around until WoW came along, pulled the rabbit out of the hat, and broke the ceiling with a staggering amount of players NEW to MMO's, leaving the rest of the industry scratching their heads and wondering how they did it (to borrow a line from Wallstreet) I cannot exaggerate this enough. Anyone who is making a game or planning on making a game most assuredly studies wow for this reason alone.

Love/hate relationship with WoW I have. On the one hand yes, the game outdoes many MMO's on so many levels, but of course on the other hand it's just like any game, you play it enough eventually you're going to want something fresh. I still play mostly because there isn't anything else worth playing. Give me a game that has controls as flawless as WoW and I'll try it out. I've never played an MMO as smooth as WoW, I rarely get the slightest bit of lag on all 3 of my computers, 2 of which aren't even that great.
Blizzard is and has been a gaming powerhouse for many years, hell, the battle.net still has like 120-150k users online during prime hours. That shows something for games that are many years old. I'd imagine WoW will continue to grow until Blizz releases the next big thing, because I seriously doubt any company is going to bring it down.
Like many, I'm awaiting AoC and WAR, but....do I expect them to overthrow WoW? Not a chance in hell. They may end up being better overall, but I don't see these semi-complex games overthrowing a game where a 5 year old could log in and figure out how to at least do a quest in the first 2 minutes. By that I don't mean WoW isn't complex.....it's just simpler to get started in. Still though, AoC looks kind of bland and WAR is EA/Mythic(while I did love the hell out of DAOC, you can't deny the amount of crap EA and Mythic has spewed out over the years patch and game wise,TOA anyone? 10k NA players online non primetime DAOC anyone? also didn't EA create UO:R??).
EA/Mythic will overthrow Blizz when hell freezes over, but I'll more than likely be playing WAR regardless.

Your only kidding yourself if you truly believe that most players go to AoC and WAR next year, or even this century. I suggest you wake up and get out of that dream of yours, and look through the world with your own eyes, and not through fanboi glasses.LOL i cant say that it would surprise me if wow was still the most popular game (at least in the us and UK) after it has been out for 10 years.
it also wouldn't surprise me that the game that did top wow in subscription numbers would be a game made by blizzard themselves.
love wow or hate it, its not going anywhere for a long long time, and to the people that think WAR or AOC will pull away any substantial amount of subscribers away from wow, you need to put the crack pipe down and slowly walk away.
that being said, i sure as hell hope that wow isn't still the most popular mmorpg in 2014, that would just mean that there hasn't been anything worth a crap that has been released and that we will have to put up with wow for a very long time.
sure there might be decent games that come along, sure i may be playing one or more of them....but i want a freaking quality game to come along in the next 5 years that can actually challenge wow....unfortunatly i don't see it happening at this point.

True, that was something quite incredible that Blizzard did, but it's only temporary. They're bound to get bored of the game like any game, and try something new, and when they see that there are (and will be like AOC and WAR) better games out there, they'll start passing that info around to their WoW friends. Whole guilds will start moving.
Well, it's either that or we're all doomed to have WoW quality MMOs (as in low quality) for the next decade or more. Which is probably why i'm not playing atm.
