You know Gameloading, for someone who seems to be smart, you should know better that you have no proof that WAR will fail in Asia. You have an argument (Warhammer will fail in asia), and then some evidence to support it (1 out of 6 A titled MMOs released in Japan succeeded).
As I said, being a smart person, you should know that evidence does not constitute proof. The only proof that a Warhammer MMO would fail in Asia is if a Warhammer MMO failed in Asia. Seeing as one hasn't released yet. We can't tell. Also, I'm personally of the opinion that WoW succeeded because it was a Blizzard game, not because it was a Warcraft game. As previously mentioned, Starcraft is infinitely more popular in Asia than Warcraft. So, with that said, there's more to add into the equation, How well will an EA game do in asia? A Mythic game? A Games Workshop licensed Game? But I digress.
Evidence can be offered in support of the possibility of failure, but, there's no proof that says Warhammer officially will, or will not fail.
Lastly, don't bog down your intelligence with presumptuous statements. Things like, "no one here knows X as much as I do" you have absolutely no factual basis to say. Certainly, you don't know the full extent of research done onthe Asian market, done by 565,407 and climbing members of "this forum".
Anyway, regardless of the evidence you have to support your claim (which, to be fair, is a highly likely one), you have nothing that allows you to say that Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning itself (not some western MMO, etc), will fail with utter certain. Highly likely? Yes, and evidence supports that. Absolutely certain? No, there is no proof.

QFT...
Finally someone who understands.
I have never once said anything was certain. I am willing to entertain the idea that a game other then WoW may succeed. There is nothing more or less to what I say.
Currently playing: LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too: Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)
Wouldn't one way to tell if the game will do well in asia is to see how well the Warhammer fantasy and 40k minatures sales are in those countrys. I mean if those numbers are high then theres a good chance that the games based off of those minatures will be a succes. If there not good then the game will fail. I dont know thats my thought on a good way to see if WAR will do good.
If god loves the fools ,and god loves every one, dose that mean we are all fools.

That would be a good way, but we would also need to know how well other Table top War Games do in the Asian market. So that we can compare how well Warhammer sales are to the norms for the market.
Another way to show correlation would be to compare another RvR game and WAR, but the only other RvR game that I know of is Dark Age of Camelot and I am pretty sure it never released in most of Asia.
Of course there is no way to know for sure until it does release and we see how it does. Since as I mentioned earlier, no one expected World of Warcraft to do as well as it did. So there is no reliable data to compare to when speaking about these new MMO Games.

thats 6 of them, all of them are considered "A" titles in general.
I'm not the one being closed minded at all, I simply stay realistic. I don't jump on the "OMG WAR will be the next big thing!" fan. If not thinking WAR will be a huge success = close minded in your view, then that says more about you then me.
But I think your quite funny. now you hint that I'm an eastern mmorpg fanboi for thinking WAR won't do well in Asia, a few days ago you called me a WoW fanboi because I did not agree that WAR would take a significant number of subscribers from WoW.
Its proof for me that your oppinions and posts should not be taken serious. you have no knowledge of the mmorpg market whatsoever.
don't even bother writing a reply to my posts, I won't read it. I'm not intrested in what you have to say, I only discuss with people can have a realistic view on the subject.
First I am going to start by saying the asians love 2 things in mmo's: PvP and acessorizing.
Everquest- PvE mmo that was at the begining of mmo's, while it was popular didn't have the draw for the asian market.
Everquest 2- It was a train wreck in the west, why would it do any better in the east?
World of Warcraft- Has PvP, fantasy world not limited by culture trends, and pve accessories to gain.
Star Wars Galaxies- As far as I know Star Wars was never huge in Asia so no big draw.
Ultima Online- I never played it but again an early mmo that was good in its prime but i just don't see the eastern market playing it.
City of Heroes- PvE and very shallow s far as depth. I know that asians do have super heros ButI don't think they were into it like the U.S. comic book scene.
EVE Online.- Niche game that I don't see a lot of cultures liking.
So you say that western mmo's fail? Yep but most either sucked or had a culture specific edge that alienates people who haven't dealt with it. I could have told you before hand that most of those wouldn't do well. Look at asian mmo's that come to us. Most are anime style grindfests that turn off western gamers.
Also we don't know how well the translations were or how support was. If I can't read an mmo site I probably won't play it.
Now as for WAR, I don't see it doing especialy well since gold farming will be almost non-existent. However they are used to WoW style graphics so the jump to WAR might not be so big. Either way it will do well in eery other market.
To be honest i couldnt care less if its a flop in asia, just as long as its a success in the west...if it is a flop in asia well we will see less botting and gold sellers in the game, i know your going to say this is a generalisation but every person i met in wow trying to sell me gold was asian and look at the state of lineage 2......i think thats proof enough.
I give it a year and a half before the asian server is closed down....Max.
No way! A Game that looks and feels similar to World of Warcraft but with competitive PVP. It will do extremely well in Asia.
I'm sure it will do just as well as all other western mmorpg's in asia, which is not.
nobody knows the asian mmorpg market on this forum as well as I do, because I'm pretty much the only one who can be bothered to do some research on it..
Learn humility, my friend. Nothing is worst than proclaiming yourself something that you're not, some folks here come from Asia. And you dare to say you know their market better than they do? Do you speak any language from Asia? Aren't you from Europe?
You can say you know their market well, but don't say you're the best.

You can say you know their market well, but don't say you're the best. Actually, I rarely "brag" about anything. but this is one thing that I know for sure. After years of discussion, hundreds of anti-asian threads, It became quite clear that very few people have actually any understanding of asian mmorpg's whatsoever. do you have any idea how many times I have heard "Asian mmorpg's are nothing but pointless grindfests"?. that right there is evidence enough for me
that most posters don't even understand the philosophy behind asian MMORPG's.
Most asians we have on this site are from south east asia, and the SE market is diffrent from the korean and chinese market. is diffrent from the korean and chinese markets.
As I said, I have spend a lot of time researching the currents ups and downs in the asian mmorpg market, and I have yet to see anyone do the same and come up with valid arguements. most people don't even know what is out there.
If they go make the game heavily item dependant it should do well in asia, unfortunately I think they are aware of this which will take the game in a direction I don't like at all, I prefer a much more level playing field for PvP.
