Have you guys experienced the new SWG?

DarthDarth Member Posts: 22

Have you hatas of Star Wars Galaxies out there experienced a recent version of SWG.  The answer is probably no because if you have tried a recent version of SWG with all of the current patches then all of your complaints have no justification.

One complaint I heard was "well its run by SOE and they have poor customer care and the patches hardly release on time".  This is no longer an issue seeing as though there is a new patch at least every 2 weeks and usually its every week, and the customer returns all requests or concerns via e-mail in a week or less.

Another complaint I heard was that some of the professions such as Image Designer services are not wanted by others ultimatly ruining the community.  SWG has addressed this profession issue along with all other profession issue.  They made it so Image Designers were the ones who Migrated characters stats(at first was done by the player), an essential part of the game.

Maybe the only reason I love the game now is because I started about 10 months after its release.  Maybe if I would have played the beta I would have hated the game like every other beta tester out there...

So if you were one who started SWG in its infancy stage, I implore you to come back and try the game again.  Its now a full grown adult

That just tells me there's so much crap broken that have to patch every two weeks.

I think when the game first goes "gold" there should be tons of patches... how long has it been out?  My point...  so many patches... so many users... but why aren't I playing?

Because I haven't been sucked into it...  nor will I.

I personally enjoyed SWG the month or two I played it. The thing I really hated about it was how repetitive it is (or was for all I know...). I mean, I played it for about a week and throughout that entire time I found myself running back and forth doing these stupid missions where I had to kill a nest. Then I tried an Artisan, that was boring as hell! All i did the entire time was search for componants (which took forever) and craft crap to attempt to make some kind of money. I am sorry but when I played the game it bored me to tears.

If they have fixed this, added more variety of missions, made crafting and even fighting classes more exciting and finally balanced everything then and only then will I give it another chance. Hasn't changed too much, has it?

My, my. Don't we have a negative attitude? Just because they actually support there game more often then others, doesnt always mean its broken. MMORPG's are supposed to update often, it's a good thing.

Darth, I have tried the most "recent" experience of SWG, my wife still has an account (we had 3).  I logged on about 3 weeks ago to give someone in the SWG forums the benift of the doubt.  The cantinas were still empty, the professions were still bugged, and the player cities were still deserted... its still a POS...sorry

i played swg recently too, held off for a good while because of all the bad reviews of it.

i think its a great game, tons of stuff to do, yeah sure crafting get a little boring but i havent seen a better crafting system.

if this exact game came out today with some unknown(not sw related) name from some unknown company people would be singing the praises of it.

of course, whne you have to tear down what you build, its not all good :/ which is why im gonzo

Actually yes.  I quit when vehicles were introduced because of all of the crap going on.  Unfortunately I reactivated my account a couple of days ago.  It's gotten worse.  It's like going from wiping your ass with school toilet paper then going straight to sand paper.  That's how bad it sucked.

Player cities littered all of the damned planets now, nothing is new, omfg they are still on ACT 3 of Cries of Alderran, that was introduced in freaking December!  Vehicles are a freakin joke, more nerfs since I last played to creature handler and bounty hunter. This is crap.  The only patches you are talking abouyt are bug fixes, not any new content.  Still the stealth nerfs going on as well.  Economy is shot to hell.  Talk about ruined.  The holo grind is still going on.

I want my 14.99 back!  The only, and I mean only goood thing I can say is that after 6 months my characters were still active.  That's it!

Yep, cancelled my subscription a few hours ago!  SWG has some nice touches but these are just fluff around the edges.  The core game play is extremely simple and very, very boring.  You can still level whole professions with macros.  You can achieve this without being at your computer.  It's square pegs square hole, round peg round hole with flashy graphics.

All i'l say is first impressions last a lifetime. It's hard to accept a game is doing alot better when it drove you to insanity. I myself had a terrible experience with SWG. Even my own guildmates were stealing money from me(i didn't know but at the time i was being charged almost twice as much for items like houses weapons etc..) But that was my guild and not SWG. Still SWG had its moments. To the complete imbalance in PvP to the non existant customer service. I lost 3 Houses and never got them back. That was about 2 weeks of play time for me since i was a casual gamer. That was the last straw.

I absoultely enjoyed playing in the star wars galaxies universe, until the whole holocron crazy a while back, and the jedi rush. Before that i never thought about jedi, i figured maybe i'd get lucky down the road and find some path to it or some interesting way to jedi.  When it was clear how to get it i basicly started destroying my character to try and get through my holo professions. In the end i got really bored with the new professions i had to do, and only got halfway through musician and quit. I was enjoying roleplaying and exploring, but it all died a quick death with the jedi rush. I am aware of the jedi system changes in development but i just don't think i could return back to there i was with my character before jedi.

I did 8 months or so on it and think i had about enough.Thing is nowadays games have 1 go to impress and thats it.

Gone are the days where a game can release a royally messed up game like AO did and then fix it  then saying ok its fixed come back now.

There is just so many mmorpg out there now you have one shot and thats it.

I mean if this was not star wars and was not made by SoE(who owns my beloved EQ) i doubt i would even have gone beyond 2 months with it.I did not even finish my free sub time in shadowbane and horizons.

For me SWG is not a bad game its ok.But thats about it ok.I can't really see myself coming back to SWG and leaving CoH right now.

By the way has the community gotten over the jedi craze yet or is it still there?

i wont go back, by way are my harvesters still hovering 100 meters off the ground where i placed them when there was a mountain there before a patch came an made area a plains. was to funny my little guy trying to jump 100 meters into the air to get 3 weeks of materials from the harvesters that couldnt be reached anymore. no help from GM's or CSR's. 1st impressions mean a lot, SWG was a bust for me , i wont waste good money on it again.

I WASTED OVER $120 ON THIS GAME AND GAVE MY ACCOUNT AWAY TO SOMEONE IN THIS COMMUNITY.

That is how much I hate SWG.

Let's say a new candy bar comes out called "Spice of life" and decide to give it a try. It tastes like dog dung. How likely are you try it again in a few months when the packages says "now working as intended"?

A game is only late until it released but it's bad forever.

Not true. AO was unplayable on release, it is now widely known as the best sci-fi mmorpg out there. AC2 is making a bit of a rebound, the book isnt closed on that one. WW2, same story.

Games can get better. I'm not defending this one, that's for sure.

I've played since release (payed for a year's worth up front, last time I do that).  I rarely log in anymore.  Two professions rule pvp, still laggy, still not enough content, borked professions (I play a BH and Jedi Bounties have been broken for 4 months now without the devs being able to fix it, in fact they have only broken them more and more as they patch).  And worst, the devs care more about pushing their expansion than the broken game that is already there.

The economy has no integrity.  Its all pretty much out of balance.  Too many bugs.  Too little too late.  And well my subscription has ended indefinatly.

No, I haven't. BUT, I checked the forums and I saw that all the same class balance issuesand bugs are there just as half a year ago. I used to be a part-time Carbineer and we had a lot of problems with the profession, and I was hoping at least some of that would be addressed by now. Naive. Same on other 10 profession forums that I went through. The day they balance the classes for PvP and fix the bugs will be the day the game would be worth playing again for me. Which means never.

(Oh and I am not whining - I used to be one of the least balanced character builds in PvP when I played - in a good way. Sure it was fun to have a character that only very few people on the server could even compete with. But honestly, if a game allows for that much advantage as I and a few other clever character builds on the server had, it tells you something about pathetic balance job SoE did. The very reason I left.)

PvPers - If you are looking for newbie ganking this is your dream game. You can take 20 mediocre chars (but with maxed or near skills) on simultaneously and win with some luck - I actually had literally that happen on more then one ocasion. Yes, the game is THAT unbalanced. However, if you are looking for strategy and balance in PvP, I wouldnt advice it.

This is true. Even without the bugs, the gameplay is horrible. Its all about doing the same types of missions over and over. The world is huge, but except for the areas just around the citys, its just deserted plains, which there is no reason to travel through whatsoever.

i've never played the game, but at first i was really excited :  a game in the star wars universe : the possibilities were endless! all i heard were negative things, and that's a shame, imho. they could've done so much more!

but i can't tell a game off when i've never played it. i might try a trial, if it ever comes out, but i don't think i will just buy the game out of the blue.. something really good has to happen before it comes that far
