Looking for an MMO to play. I am an x-wower, got into the closed beta of LOTRO and The Chronicles of Spellborn, both good, but LOTRO i lag like hell so i need more RAM (which i will get, but not yet) and spellborn's last patch caused some huge huge problems. I was thinking of maybe trying out DAOC, but idk. Just looking for something that will be lots of fun and great pvp.

I've tried alot of MMO's...and WOW in my opinion is the best out right now...if you don't want to play WoW...I'd suggest Everquest 2, or Lineage 2.
Or you May wanna try Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and see if that suits your fancy.
If spellborn lagged you like hell dont try vanguard cause that game is so huge and laggy lol. It is a good game, but man its really laggy.

Hey,
I enjoyed EQ2 for a good while and I'm thinking about going back to it at some point between now and WAR. There's a lot of PVE and quest fun to be had with EQ2, but it is RAM intensive too - you need 1GB+ really to play it - and the more the better beyond that. City of Heroes and City of Villians can be a lot of fun too for a while, but for me CoH only lasted for a month or so until I got a little bored of it. For Sci-Fi fix, and some serious PvP action and actually being in fear of your life/pod - EVE Online is great - but it's very involved and has a pretty steep learning curve, and it actually takes TIME to train your skills (luckily they still train/level up when you're not playing).
I've not played DAoC, but it's a game that's looking interesting to me too - just to see what this RvR stuff is really all about. Hope you find something to tide you over, but if you have the system to run Everquest 2 reasonably well (1.8GHz CPU, 1 or 2GB RAM, radeon 9800pro - ran fine for me), then it's worth buying for the free month and maybe beyond, if that's your thing.
Hope this helps.
PSU is a pretty good game (not a real MMO tho). I canceled my account tho because at the time there wasnt enough content. Now that most of the content is unlocked, and the expansion is in open beat in JP, I'm thinkin about coming back. It's definitely not a game you want to (or need to) play real hardcore like WoW or EQ (at least not for me). I have fun signing on for an hour or 2 and just doing some runs. My biggest problem with the game was the fact you had to run the same things over and over and over. This problem should be fixed now since the game has been updated since then. My 2nd problem was the fact that a lot of the bosses were the same as others with a new skin. Still tho it's a pretty enjoyable game and doesnt require much time to play.
For now tho, I;m playing Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. No clue what I'm gonna play after that (almost done). I still don't know if I will reactivate my PSU account... thinkin about it. I really want a MMO with good PVP to play. But atm all the MMOs out pretty much suck or just are not my style. Lets hope WAR or AoC bring something new, or better (hopefully by a lot) than what's out now. Also Aion looks like it could be good (love anime so the style is a plus). I've watched a few PVP videos and it doesnt seem as intense as wow fights... so no clue if I'll like it. If there is no WASD or the press 2 mouse buttons to move I wont bother. Click to move is the most boring shit ever lol.
BTW I thought of checking out DAoC too... but I just don't want to jump into an old game where theres a lot of people with great gear and more exp.
You need to keep sharp soldier.get something with constant exposure to other organic opponents trying to kill you.I got RO from valve, eastern front ww2 very realistic tactical game 19.99 no fee.
I have tried 3-5 mmo's and they were/are kinda lame.I have a cleric and friar gtg,on my de-activated daoc acct classic cluster.and im seeing 2500 on during peek, and that a no bot server. at 12.95 per month im prolly going back.
I still think a good realistic shooter helps build combat experience too.sometimes it's hard to get a good grp up and running in an mmo, plus lvlng(daoc is fast) gear isnt to bad.Its vent dominated ,but vents free. You would almost have to play a support class at this stage of the game. The damage classes are pretty established and guilds generally cater to healers/clerics/druids hand over foot.
I played healer(hardest) cleric(easy mode healer) ,not druid, they gave them a nasty interupting root now too.ide prolly go druid.
do not play a pacifacation specced healer, bard,or Sorc. These r the 3 ldr classes and take alot of experience, and effort.
I don't like to disagree with nice sounding folk but I feel I must in this case. WoW really is not so good, if you haven't leveled a character to 70 yet then that could be fun. But once you hit 70 the game is over, unless of course you like to take part in really dull battlegrounds or waste away in tedious raids, my account closes on the 15 or so(3 months from when WoW expo came out roughly, too long i'd say) Thumbs down on Lineage II, that game is very poor quality. EQII i know nothing about to be honest.
DAoC accounts reactivated for 10 days so I'm giving my Mauler another whirl. DAoC is always good to play if you haven't. Highly preffered over WoW IMO, I'd only return to WoW when there is a big content addition(the expansion or a good patch).
I plan to get Neverwinter Nights II very soon simply because i loved the original so much. NWN isn't exactly an MMORPG but it is pretty damn close and there is no monthly fee.
Ahhh yes i posted before i read this, but yes DAOC definately has the very best PvP out there, still doesn't beat how Asheron's Call I Darktide server was but that is long done .
DAoC is surely enjoyable however the graphics are a bit stale now and the landscapes not very "lush" but with all the recent additions leveling has become boatloads easier than it once was and the PvP(RvR) is still incredible, however it used to be a bit more exciting. LoL but don't make that turn you off the game is truly the best there is, as it always was. We can nitpick and find something to say about any game.
I go straight for single player, a game like that is too lush and has such a good story that to me playing it online kinda takes away from its original purpose.
Pretty much what i did with Baldur's Gate, NWN and all the expansions.
Shadowbane is still the best PVP game out there
And its free
ummm...not.
DAoC is the best pvp game around, bar-none. Trust me, if your into pvp, its worth the 12$. Try the classic servers cluster, absolutely incredible.

+1 DAoC was one of the best mmo's ever made. It kept my interest for 4 years which is better then any other mmo i have played. With as many character classes and races and places to go in DAoC it should keep you busy for a good while honestly. I mean savage, zerker, valewalker, friar, vampiir were only a few classes that i loved to play that had some sort of imagination put into making them. Unlike just playing a rogue, or a warrior, or hunter (stupid WoW).ummm...not.

In DAOC can guilds build their own cities and siege and destroy other guilds cities? Can you loot people you kill?
ummm.. I thought not
I don't feel like grinding for 6 months before I get to the PVP, but thanks anyway
In Shadowbane, you can max out your character in a couple of weeks
I know you said you were looking for an MMO, but if you're just looking for something to hold you over until WAR comes out, consider trying other genres. If you play an MMO, you might get drawn into it and not want to play WAR. Plus, playing multiple MMOs back to back can lead to burnout, and you become less enthusiastic about playing new ones.
If you want multiplayer action, you cannot go wrong with SupCom. Supreme Commander rocks! Even though I was getting bored with RTS, SupCom reignited my passion for the genre. I also hear good things about C&C 3. SupCom has bigger battles, but C&C has more variety between the factions.
If you have a PS2, I can recommend Rogue Galaxy for RPG fans, and God of War II for anyone. GoW II is better than the first one! Guitar Hero II, which I played at a friend's house, is pretty cool, too. A bit more expensive than other choices, but definitely different and fun.
As for MMOs, I'd recommend CoH/CoV, LotRO (soon), and DAoC. I've tried a lot of the free-to-play MMOs as well, but they only managed to nail shut the coffin on Korean imports, for me. Gods, they love grind games!
Seriously.
It's Are'el. This forum doesn't allow apostrophes in usernames.
But for you, I would try EVE. The game is so much fun. I remember my first War. Prolly 400+ people flying around fighting. Its starts slow, but once you meet some friends and start working for a Corp, its alot of fun.
But thats just my style.
Please don't stop with the suggestions though this could help out many others in my position as well. Oh and btw i hate the factor of people being able to loot my body. That for me ruins the experience of PvP. PvP is about being ganked and winning cities, towers, realms etc not pissing someone off to the point of wanting to go kill people in RL.
