I don't know whether to laugh or cry watching the circle jerk over a hit or two on an obscure site.
If your site rocked you wouldn't be here........
If your game rocked you wouldn't be here......
But keep throwing out your swill for the noobs, theres enough honest people here to keep it in check.
May I ask what the problem is? You seem to have this hate flowing through you.
When people like you stop coming here lying about the state of the game and trying to drum up sales for it, I will stop trying to let people know how it really is. From your perspective I hate VG or Sigil, I would tell you that I'm just a girly man carebear who loves everyone and dosen't want them suckered in by corporate lies or the prattering of delusional fanboys. Honestly, I can understand someone who has had a bad experience and wants to share it, what I can't understand is people who spend all their time on these boards trying to spread the STD that is VG? I mean, I don't like throwing out the viral accusation without at least a shred of proof, but for Christ sake, I can't understand the mentality. What motivates you people, it has to be something.
Im here to discuss the game because I enjoy it and like to share information.
Seeing as you like to post peoples "resumes" andt hink you know the "real state of the game", then how about you link us to your posts on the VG technical support forums so we can see what sort of problems youre reporting back to the support team and the devs? A sort of anti-resume, if you will

That's hilarious. You've been here less than a month and you've made 17 posts, all but three of which are about Vanguard. I've made thirty something posts in around two years, a good number of which aren't about vanguard (and even if they were ALL about vanguard, at least I'm not spending my time bashing a game I don't like).
Man, you got me. 30>17. I bow to your leetness.
I enjoy myself posting here, you build a website for a dead game. /shrug

I have no obligation to assist Sigil in their money-losing enterprise, I don't recieve a paycheck from BMQ. I did my share in beta and when I played with reporting bugs and exploits and the like. That they are unwilling and or unable to make corrections is no longer my problem. As far as the tech support forums, I would encourage any potential buyer of the game to check them out first to see what they are getting into. Now where are those forums again? Why don't you post the link to the Sigil website for those interested? Oh wait, they DON'T HAVE an official website, now why might that be?
I don't know what kind of game you run joejccva, but if the members of this site would do a quick google on your handle, I think it would be quite enlightening. I particularly found this linkage to the vanguard fansite you are affiliated with to be quite illuminating. http://www.vanguardspheres.com/forums/members/joejccva.html http://www.vanguardspheres.com/forums/search.php?searchid=91375 went dead http://www.vanguardspheres.com/forums/search.php?searchid=91423 If you had any ethics you would disclose your affliations in your signature. Please take your viral to your own site and stop trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the members here. Did Sigil promise to invite you to the company BBQ in exchange for pushing their pig of a game on unsuspecting noobs? Do you have any conscience or does it not bother you that your 'marketing' will most likely cause people to be out 50 bucks? Edited second link because 'magically' it stopped working but its back.
WTF does it mater to you? I don't play VG because it's not the game for me. If you don't like the game, you aren't gonna play it, but that doesn't mean he should be squelched from informing people who might be interested. Get a grip and stop being petty, grow up ect. The same thing could be said about you. Who do you work for and why does it matter?
The Vampire thing sounds like an exact copy of what they have in The elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion. It was a cool feature in that game, but not cool enough for me to go back to VG. I still think they need a good year or two to fix the game.

It matters because I make the electrons that light up your screen and power your computer is why. As far as having a financial interest in VG or any other MMORPG or computer game for that matter, I do not. I love how its ok for 'fans', and I use the term loosely to promote a bug-ridden, unfinished, beta-quality, exploiters paradise to the consumers of this website, but let someone say an ill word about the game, direct people to another game, or challenge your statements and all of a sudden there is a problem.
Also why hide? When you made the post you had a linky to RLMMO in your avatar/siggy box. Now you deleted it? Thats pretty cowardly, although the Vanive name still id's you as one of the major posters there, you the owner? mod? I eat fanboys for breakfast son, and its only been a light snack so far this morning. Keep it coming.

Translation: "I MUST HAVE CONTROL!!!! I GET THE LAST WORD!!!! I'M A BIG MAN!!!!! BIG MAN!!!!"
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

Yeah, this game won't be successful until the bugs are crushed. Performance is a real issue for 90% of players, current, quit & potential...

Wanna know why? Because it's been there for months now and I never removed it, but MMORPG.com said no promoting sites here with sig banners ect. So rather than get a ban for it here, I pulled it. Most everyone who knows me here knows I post there also. But I've been a member here longer so how does this effect you again?

It affects me because you butted into a conversation trying to make the point that it dosen't matter if people have some sort of connection to the company making the game, financial or otherwise, as if their viewpoints were pure as the wind driven snow and not from some ulterior motive. I don't care if you are BMQ in real life, but if you come here posting bogus bs, don't be suprised when you get called on it, and someone points out the fact that you MAY have an ulterior motive.
I would NEVER question your sincerety in complying with the rules of MMORPG.com, I just find it funny that you chose to comply at the exact moment you made such a post.
I'm gonna leave now so you guys can roll in with the last word if it will make you feel better....MX13 should be by any second now.
And since we sort of got off topic, let me drive it back to the original subject matter.
PLAY VANGUARD:THE MASQUERADE, omg its soo cool you can be a vampire and run fast and quest to get the curse removed, BUY VANGUARD NOW ITS SO GREAT!!!

I browse these forums all the time. Read up on various games to see how they're doing just to see if something catches my eye or makes an interesting read. Out of the hundreds of humiliating posts people make on here, yours is the first that's actually made me want to respond to it. I'm not a Vanguard fan. If anybody asked me my opinion on it, it would not be positive and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. But if these people are sharing an interesting point of discussion that they learned on Vanguard forums with the people on MMORPG.com, I do not see what the big deal is.
You complain about how everyone is getting mad because you said an "ill word about the game" and the like, when their are threads after threads bashing the game to pieces on these forums. I don't see how you can't leave the threads alone where people who have MMORPG.com accounts just want to discuss the positives of the game. MMORPG.com is a site for discussing MMOs in good and bad lights; not blatant tirading against anyone you think is just trying to "pull the wool over people's eyes." Hell, your were sack tapping one guy because he posted what he read here on another site which has no affiliation with Vanguard because he wanted to share it with them. OMG WATCH OUT, HE HAS A HIDDEN AGENDA.
Shove of and let the fans talk about the game here. There are plenty of other threads on the VG forums on MMO for you to flame on.
Because my posting was in the shadows before, now I stepped into the spotlight and I know they are watching this thread. It had nothing to do with hiding anything /shrug. I'm not afraid of voicing my opinion but I'm not about being banned all the time either.
As far as people promoting games I think the fans and players do more to promote the game than any site out there. Besides the only people who would ever bother to read this thread are the ones who have some interest in the game. I know I don't bother clicking on links to threads for games I care nothing about. Only reason why I came in here is because it was cross linked and I saw a good argument. All and all you are doing nothing to help your cause since you are the only one here complaining, which makes it look as though you have some ulterior motive. If I were you I would just walk away and consider the argument lost. But that's just me.
Just because you act a certain way does not mean that everyone does. Many people come to forums just for discussion regardless of the game. Your whole post was I do this, I do that, I do this, so everyone must.

The support forums are for players of VG having technical issues with the game, they arent a marketing exercise. Youre certainly not registered there under the handle you use here, which is surprising considering you claim to know the real state of the game. So, either youre playing and having no problems, or, youre not playing and have no idea of the state of the game. Or you use another handle altogether.
If you look at some of my posts, I have also recommended potential buyers look at the support forum. I think as buyers we should be aware of what we ourselves will tolerate in addition to what our systems can handle. I wouldnt hesitate encouraging someone to play as long as they had a good idea of what to expect from a) actual game-play, b) performance on their PC and C) Customer Support if things hit the fan. I like VG and want more people playing and liking it too, but just like you I receive no paycheck from Sigil. I get no return from others buying the box, so lying about it's good points or denying it's bad points would defeat the object. It would only create more hate for a game that has garnered far more hate than it deserves.
Youre a former beta player of a game that has been on the shelves for over 2 months - do you think people coming to this site for information are getting the real truth from you? Honestly?
Anyway the support forums link. Ive posted the link in previous posts, but am more than happy to provide it again as you have obviously lost it, or never had it.
As for official general forums, for whatever reason Sigil decided not to have the bother of hosting them themselves, the decision was made a long time ago. I joined the VG forums early 2006 and it was old news then. Im not happy about the decision - I think the community needs a base to solidify it - but it isnt my decision to make, and I have no idea how much work would be involved for the company to have one or not. You'd have to ask the man in charge exactly why he decided to not have forums but there was nothing conspiratol about the decision.
Oh, and while we have become used to them as an industry standard I have been informed, in my own whines about their absence, that this is not the case and plenty of other P2P MMOs never had "Official Forums" either.

I have to commend you on the way you carry yourself. I have never been able to quite put together such a masterpiece as yours. The gravitas and seeming emotionless professionalism with which you write, even as you insinuate that I am a liar.
Ok, lets break it down. If there are any potential customers here, let me speak to you directly with the facts. I have a 3GHZ CPU, GEForce 7900 CO, 2 GIG Ram (admittedly not DDR2). The game is choppy, the world is not 'zoneless' as was claimed, they just renamed zones as 'chunks' and the transition is not seamless. I could get reasonable frame rates on my system until I came into contact with a couple groups worth of other players at which point FPS dropped to 5-10 with severe hitching. If you have a similar system or one worse do you think you will be able to raid? PVP?
Exploits are rampant and seem to pop up with every patch, in other words they will fix a bug with a patch, at the same time introducing a new bug (at least one) that needs to be fixed at the next patch, at which time the cycle repeats. Exploiters are not banned, up to the point at which I terminated my account, there had been no rollbacks, even for serious bugs which allowed players to gain multiple levels in a few hours. Macro botting afk crafters are rampant with repeated reports by multiple players to GM's ignored, when a cry was raised on 'affiliate' forums, suddenly the threads were locked and moved or deleted. Now I will leave it up to you to figure out why, but I am sure that Sigil keeps these websites on a short leash.
Sigil has no 'official' forums, the developers post from time to time on 'affliate' websites, which again they MAY or MAY not lean on to censor press about the game. The tech support forum referred to by our eloquent poster above is the SOE tech support site for VG, and if you do a little searching you can see just how effective it is.
If you find yourself in my situation you will have no need to visit the tech support center, the game runs, but is obviously in no state to enjoy properly, this is due to the high poly count used in VG graphics. IT WILL NOT CHANGE. No amount of tweaking is going to be able to fix this, if you do some research you will find that Sigil personnel have indicated that it is up to the customer to upgrade their computer and that VG was designed for the computers of the future.
The game is in a beta state, you will find vast areas of the world empty of mobs or quests, new dungeons are being itemized as time goes on, but again see points about bugs above. The world is massive and feels very empty, even more so with the bleeding playerbase.
Do not buy this game for PVP, aside from the game mechanics allowing you to attack other players, there is no PVP 'system' of any sort to speak of. FFA servers may be better, but there is currently no purpose to team pvp aside from ganking people.
There are tons of people desperate to get you into this game, those with interests of some sort, and some who are just players like the poster above, alone and without anyone to group with, they need you in this game. If you absolutely must play this game, please get a free trial or buddy key, wait for the free trial which is sure to come, or check the bargain bin in your local electronics store in the coming weeks. If you listen to someone online who tells you how great something is and you get burned, don't make the same mistake twice.
Also if you are desperate to play a game, any game, remember that LOTRO open beta is free until the 24th. It is not as much of a game as VG aspired to but at least it is smooth and stable and there are lots of people playing it.
I love how its ok for 'fans', and I use the term loosely to promote a bug-ridden, unfinished, beta-quality, exploiters paradise to the consumers of this website, but let someone say an ill word about the game, direct people to another game, or challenge your statements and all of a sudden there is a problem.
Well then here you go. There's a problem with the alpha channels, where things further away seem to bleed through things closer. You'll notice it on beards, horse manes, etc when next to grass or something like that.
There seems to be a problem with the lighting, for example, in some tents the interior won't light up when I turn my torch on, on others it will, but not the roof or something.
I wish they'd add reflections to the water, but that's just preference.
They really need to add helmets.
Wish they had AA, it would really help in a lot of cases.
But I still play and enjoy the game, even though there's tons of obvious things like this, all of which I'm pretty sure everyone enjoying VG is aware of anyway.

Seriously dude, if you are honestly enjoying the game and its running smooth for you then more power to ya. I didn't have fun with my experience, right now I got the fun back with LOTRO, even though its not going to be long term for me. I'm not trying to tear you down or get people to stop playing, my concern is with people who haven't got into the game yet. It is a BETA quality game, yes it has potential, but people should know upfront what they are getting for their money, and for most of the gamers out there, it will not be a smooth, playable game.
If you care so much about directing people to the right game, then why don't you go found a magazine reviewing all the games you like and don't like, actually get something done, and be productive rather than butt in on fans and players of the game discussing the game in a forums specifically made for discussing the game? I didn't like LOTRO, something about it didn't click with me but I'm not going to discourage people who may enjoy it from playing it. There's things I would change about every game ever made (maybe except pong or something, not much to change there). I don't like those little online games on Yahoo or whatever, and I think they're a waste of time and that you could spend your time in a better way, but people enjoy them so I'm not going to tell them not to.
Really man, it's fine if you want to inform people about the problems of the game. But when you start saying people are viral marketers, conspiring with the devs, out to get you and your kids in the middle of the night, that's a problem.

I'm going to let your inflammatory comment roll this time, as things have settled down a bit and there is no point rehashing this thread. I made my points, I stand by them. You disagree and thats fine we will leave it there.
Eh, broke my own rule, gotta throw this in. I wish I had the time or resources to build a gaming mag, that would be a sweet gig. Thats why I respect this site so much, it is independent. MMORPG.COM dosen't have to worry about handouts from devs and is under no pressure to slant the news a certain way. They are the big dogs in town. I really enjoy a forum where both sides can fight it out without having interference from zealous mods anxious to quash negativity.
Darn, one more edit. I must say though that diplomacy was one of the brighter stars in the VG universe and I very much enjoyed your website Gerec. I did spend quite a bit of time there at one point. For anyone who does play the game, vgtact is a must have on your favorites list. Can't let it go without a complaint though, diplo had/has such potential if they do stay afloat I think it will set a standard for future games, I just wish they had made it challenging (slow leveling) yet not so monotonous, my god if I have to hear about Glorian or whatever the harvest goddess name was one more time..... And of course the broken quests, merchant faction, silly presence reqs etc didn't help but thats small potato stuff, overall it was pretty interesting.
Just a few things here that's interesting. There's an area in the game (cant remember what it's called) where you fight vampires, and if you get bitten you have a curse on you called "Curse of the Vampire". What this does is make you a vampire by night (with bonuses to stats and abilities), and then you're weakened during the daytime. This is of course until you can find a cure which there are a few ways (if you even want to be cured), but I've played with a few players that had been bitten, and it's pretty cool. Just thought I'd bring this up.
first i did not want to read through all the post and maybe someone has already mentions the quests about the vampire mansion but jsut posting to give ya'll a few more info...
the vampire mansion is called hilsbury manor...(LOTS of quests to do before you lead to this area UNLESS u skipped them all and head there w/o doing them) once you reach level 20 head to lakeview do all those quests then there will be a guy to tell you to go to misthaven do a few of his quests and he will send you up north to do a few more quests and finally the guy up north will tell you to go to a camp where there are vampire slayers who evidently needs your help and then the guy will tell you to head to hilsbury manor)
i finished the quest and what you have to do is kill 10 CURED villagers and come back the the quest giver (inside the mansion) and he says he found out a way for you to "get rid of it" and then you recieve a special ability which is being able to transform into a HUGE and i mean HUGE giant bat...can only be used at night you're so called "flying" but you have to go around rocks and bumps etc...so you're flying but not literally...awesome quest to do...also he has a few other quest for you if you go collecting books in the library (3 different sets (volume 1-3) so total would be 9 books...anyway the book called "talfyn" collect volume 1-3 and the reward is AC 40 25hp and 25 mana or 50mana and mana regen 1 for casters...those are mainly the 2 quests i really liked...oh yea i forgot to add...theres another quest where the vampire lord "kidnapped" a girl and she's sleeping in his room, the guy will tell you to find blood essence vial (drops from any vampire in the mansion) and he will give you a type of powder to awaken her UNFORTUNATELY you need to be level 45 and higher to finish the quest so i couldnt wake her up (currently level 30 btw ) but then again i only play once a week now due to the lack of people and just tired of playing ALL mmo's period...
And if it hasn't been said already, if you have the curse and log into the game at daytime you will not get the buffs from it even when it gets dark. I get tired of having to relog at night time just to get it, should be automatic on at night/ off during the day.

A sort of anti-resume, if you will
Man, you got me. 30>17. I bow to your leetness.
I enjoy myself posting here, you build a website for a dead game. /shrug
Calling a Vanguard fan who ISN'T affliated in some shape or form with Sigil,SOE,or an affiliated website here?

I knew the playerbase bleed was bad, but this is worse than I expected.

WTF does it mater to you? I don't play VG because it's not the game for me. If you don't like the game, you aren't gonna play it, but that doesn't mean he should be squelched from informing people who might be interested. Get a grip and stop being petty, grow up ect. The same thing could be said about you. Who do you work for and why does it matter?

Wanna know why? Because it's been there for months now and I never removed it, but MMORPG.com said no promoting sites here with sig banners ect. So rather than get a ban for it here, I pulled it.

And of course the broken quests, merchant faction, silly presence reqs etc didn't help but thats small potato stuff, overall it was pretty interesting.
first i did not want to read through all the post and maybe someone has already mentions the quests about the vampire mansion but jsut posting to give ya'll a few more info...
the vampire mansion is called hilsbury manor...(LOTS of quests to do before you lead to this area UNLESS u skipped them all and head there w/o doing them) once you reach level 20 head to lakeview do all those quests then there will be a guy to tell you to go to misthaven do a few of his quests and he will send you up north to do a few more quests and finally the guy up north will tell you to go to a camp where there are vampire slayers who evidently needs your help and then the guy will tell you to head to hilsbury manor)
i finished the quest and what you have to do is kill 10 CURED villagers and come back the the quest giver (inside the mansion) and he says he found out a way for you to "get rid of it" and then you recieve a special ability which is being able to transform into a HUGE and i mean HUGE giant bat...can only be used at night you're so called "flying" but you have to go around rocks and bumps etc...so you're flying but not literally...awesome quest to do...also he has a few other quest for you if you go collecting books in the library (3 different sets (volume 1-3) so total would be 9 books...anyway the book called "talfyn" collect volume 1-3 and the reward is AC 40 25hp and 25 mana or 50mana and mana regen 1 for casters...those are mainly the 2 quests i really liked...oh yea i forgot to add...theres another quest where the vampire lord "kidnapped" a girl and she's sleeping in his room, the guy will tell you to find blood essence vial (drops from any vampire in the mansion) and he will give you a type of powder to awaken her UNFORTUNATELY you need to be level 45 and higher to finish the quest so i couldnt wake her up (currently level 30 btw ) but then again i only play once a week now due to the lack of people and just tired of playing ALL mmo's period...
And if it hasn't been said already, if you have the curse and log into the game at daytime you will not get the buffs from it even when it gets dark. I get tired of having to relog at night time just to get it, should be automatic on at night/ off during the day.
