Nice way to allow RMT in a game without saying you are allowing RMT in a game. This way at least Blizz gets a slice of the pie.

Great game at first. Terrible company running it.

As long as it's vanity items, I care this > < much
Most of those who receve loot cards play the card game anyways,
and let's not go bashing the card game, then we might as well accuse the creators of MTG to be filthy moneyhungry bastards...

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

Blizzard crossed it a long time before this.

I knew a guy who sold basically all his non-mmo games to gamestop to buy packs of this to get some loot cards. I don't recall if he did, but lets just say I hope he likes the card game.

And your forced to buy the trading card game? also blizzard just sold the licence to upper deck to make TCG so its not blizzard soaking up your money.

I suppose Games workshop are soaking up the money after giving the licence to mythic to make WAR, after all they already got a TCG, board games, several other computer games, figures and comics... nothing but money grabing low-lifes eh?

So much hate for blizzard because ppl want to buy their products.  Sure no 1 likes the top dog, but blizzard worked their way to the top over the last 17 years, they didn't get get there over night, they didin't buy a well know and established IP, they made their own (unless ya a WH fan ofc, as we all know WH invented air and the color blue along with elves and orks) and now they are enjoying the rewards.

But its fanshional to bash blizzard right now, so I can see why ppl do it, makes you look big and clever on the forums.

Bad idea... trading card game is different of on-line games, now all on-line players have to buy trading cards to be nice and have a chance to access all itens for the game???

It is a bad thing for Blizzard reputation... go burn in hell lol

Oh don't even get me started on GW. I think they are money grubbing scum because they constantly reinvint the rules forcing you to buy whole new units, raise prices every other week and generally refuse to allow fans ANY input into their investment. I don't care about the card game.

Blizz however, if they make this card game's loot give any advantage to the players who BOUGHT their stuff, then yes, they are in a since FORCING you to buy their game if you want to stay competitive.

For the record, I now play tabletop war games and not WoW any more. Great game at first, but its changed to much for me to like any more, and none of the other games out there caught my fancy.

A lot of people arn't realizing that all items from the card game are just vanity items.  They give you no benefit in-game, they are just for fun.  No one is gimped by not buying the card game so I don't see what the problem is.  Blizzard is not forcing anyone to buy it and the people who are buying/selling the loot cards for $500 on ebay, Blizzard isn't getting a slice of that anyway.

About GW: That's why the call it a hobby.  it's meant to soak up money.

About the comparison between Blizzard and GW.

GW games don't cross-over.  You don't benefit in the TT game by getting the cards, and you won't benefit in WAR by buying either the TT miniature or the Trading Cards.

However with Blizzard, you'll benefit in WoW from buying the Trading Cards since they're directly linked through in-game items.

i think a lot of the rule changes in the GW TT game are because of fan feedback.  At least that's what long-time fans have told me.  And you can always use the old minis.  You don't "have" to buy the new ones. ;)

What are you rambling about? The cards/"loot" mean absolutely nothing in-game. It's just some vanity crap, like a useless mini-pet or a turtle mount (which adds 0% movement speed).

This isn't like EVE where they are allowing people to purchase time codes and sell them in-game. Maybe you should do some research before throwing around RMT accusations.

I like the picnic set, at last something really fitting for WoW's style.  I can imagine the BE twink-o-dooms setting this up at the blacksmith in Arathi Basin fairly often if they are allowed it there at all   Seriously though, I love that Blizzard is doing so well at trading and franchising off an MMORPG: often an MMO is an add-on to something else, like a movie franchise, but WoW is doing so well that it is taking on a real life of its own and building the genre.  Love it or hate it, it's hard to deny that WoW has an awesome marketing reach now, and if they keep building the way they have it will simply get better and better.

The more money WoW makes, ultimately the more money other people will be willing to invest in MMORPGS to try to achieve the same level of success.  Ultimately that means more games, more choice, and (yes optomist tonight) better quality as competition kicks in.  Seriousy, I want to see the WoW TV animated TV cartoon series next!

I think it's funny how people are only just noticing the TCG now, it's been going since.. well .. a while.. As said the 'items' offered within the TCG are nothing but cosmetic (like Murky) thats wht it's always intended of being, although there has been mentioned that any 'epix' (ie weaponary/armor) if they were to be included would be a very unque and extremely hard item to obtain (ie you have to win the world champs or somthing)..

For those 'it's a gimmik for money' comments, the boardgame for example I would agree with, but  the TCG is in fact a very good extention to the Warcraft franchise, I stopped playing WoW itself a while ago but still continue with the TCG it's actally a good reflectiion of the 'fun' thats in WoW without the narkiness.

    Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!

Idiot, u cant buy armour or epic loot or pots or anything, its just stuff like lttle pets or a tabard, get ur facts correct b4 syaing anything.  Alot of people that play the card game may also be playing wow, so its just a nice gift for some people.  It dosnt affect anyones in game standings or their armour or weapons or anything.

Dude Blizzard blatantly stole 2 ideas from Games workshop the first being Warhammer fantasy and the second being warhammer 40k. The fact is WH did invent orcs and elves as we know them today (getting inspiration from the great Tolkein himself) and for a company like Blizzard to take that idea and not even pay royalties is just plain out of order.
