WOW Open Beta!

I read on the most recent Blizzard WOW FAQ that they were planning to have an open beta, of course they didn't say when!  I don't suppose anyone know's anything more on this! A WOW open beta would be really sweet, so I can do more then stare at screenshots of the game!

I think WOW will be the best MMORPG to date! While EQ2 and GW look really good, WOW is where it's at!

    And they probably will, just keep checking the blizzard site often, they said int he WoW website that they'll keep you updated from the blizzard site... so check it everyday :)

    Would someone please tell me why WOW is going to be soooo much better than ANYTHING ANYONE can come up with/.... whats with all the hype?

    it may not be better than anything ever but it seems to be pretty sweet i mean who doesn't love warcraft image.  Just imagine massive online warcraft..... amazing, not as good as eq tho nothing will ever equal or surpass the eq world. I can't wait for eq 2.... and WOW gota have WOW.

    ok... well i love EQ too, and personally, i don't think warcraft is anywhere near the other RTS out there examples: Age of Empires, Starcraft.. many others. So if anyone that is actually in the beta has an opinion that would be cool

    mmm in MY opinion WOW is way overhyped. The game's graphics are not so good, it looks like a 90's game. WOW will be great for all warcraft fans, but for ther rest of RPGers it will just be another imitation of EQ.

    The 24 hours game clock is really screwing things up, its always night everytime I play, so I never get to see the freaking sun anymore. AND the forced rest system is really annoying as well...

    The game is fun nevertheless its just not as fun or good as many people make it seem. I guess it all depends how much u like WC. I have pretty much stopped playing it... would give my account but its against rules :P

    Open beta for MMORPGs is basicaly a vast marketing tool available to companies, especially ones like WoW, id go into the research figures but I need to go make some breakfast, but alomost 74% of all open beta testers end up purchasing and playing the game for at least 2 months...

    And you can imagine how many will be in WoW open beta? at least 300k... thats $7770000 ($35 for CD and first month) made back in the first month covering over half a years costs in the first week! :)

    Can someone please tell me what the big deal with WoW is please ? I'm not being sarcastic, I really want to know cause I'm wondering what game to play this fall. I'm not impressed with the screenshots, seem more like something I'd see on a PS2 rather than a PC. Also is this gonna be anything like Warcraft 3 was cause that game sucked ? I just don't understand how that game was allegedly "Game of the Year" It looked like a really bad cheap older version of Command & Conquer minus the tanks. It had old diablo 2 type graphics with the overhead view. I just don't get the appeal of it at all.

    Not a big fan of WoW either, played the alpha wasnt impressed really with that, but its going to be a very popular game, maybe as popular was SWG was when it first launched, the WoW style of graphics certainly isnt for everyone, and the game its self comes across as very carebeary

    They have not yet decided, Klondike.  But give it time.  They'll eventully delete everyone's characters before WoW goes gold.  That's just the way most MMORPGs go.image

    Open Beta for World of Warcraft, they obviously don't know about the private servers, where all the other people play the Beta, and they can too.image Let me show you some proof, buddy boys.

    So give your account to a friend you know.

    There are many people who enjoy what WoW offers. And I'm betting somethings outside of just the game itself appeal to people.

    1. Blizzard has a reputation for high quality enjoyable games.
    2. Blizzard has a reputation for good customer service.


    Whether or not these remain to be seen is certainly an open question and can only be answered on release. Compared to SOE's record on those two subjects, I'm looking forward to WoW myself.

    This is an opinion.  I, myself, have never even been interested in buying a Blizzard game.  They all look so dumb to me.

    Umm no, it's not an opinion, it is what the media expresses in their reviews of blizzards games. The fact that these games don't appeal to you has no bearing on the reputation Blizzard has with the news media.

    Bad graphics? hmm.. did it never accure to you they did it for more players? like CS many plays it because their computer can run the game (and not UT2k4, Q3- atleast at the time being it came out)
    So... lets take EQ2 as an example.. I'm sure you'll need a monster computer to run the game decent, and if my computer is slow I'd probably choose WOW because it's in my eyes the most promising besides EQ2.

    I gleefully await the day that the unattainable hopes of the WoW fanbois are dashed to little pieces on the sharp, jagged rocks of reality. That's not to say WoW won't be a good game, as all indications so far is that it's fun, but it's not going to be the Second Coming of Jesus that some seem to think it is.

    As for EQ2, it will tank, and tank hard, if it even makes it out the door. It's nothing more than EQ with hideous mannequins in place of the current models. Oh, but the NPCs talk! Yeah, that'll be cool, for 3.2 seconds, til you turn off all the sound in a desperate attempt to achieve 1 frame per second.

    i look forward to the open beta, if only to get a chance to try and play the game a bit and see what its' like to help me decide whether or not to buy the game.
