Indeed you would be. The problem is I am not in any way offended on any level. It would take some sort of massive mind control mechanism over the internet to offend me.

I was simply stating that you are entirely confused if you think that the only type of person that plays LOTRO is like the guy dressed up like Gandalf that tried to pester the geeks standing in line at the Star Wars premiere in New York. And by no means are either of us anything like Triumph the insult comic dog in this situation. We are just lesser fanbois. (And only one of us has a triple digit IQ)

Yes, I posted a critical and sarcastic review on LOTRO, convinced everyone would agree with me.

This was not a review, as 1, product is not even released so it could only be a preview (it's not)  2, you started with a (false) subjective judgment....

I have low IQ and mental disorders? Is that all you've got? Tear my original post to pieces digitally instead of pathetically attempting to hurt my feelings. What does it take to get an honest answer from someone with an actual set of balls?

The OP posted HIS opinion of the game. You don't have to agree with him, becasue well....its his view. I agree with almost all of the points that the OP said. Dont bash someone for stating their opinion of a game.

His original thoughts weren't nearly as pitiful as his broad generalizations of the people who actually enjoy the game.

And I'm sure you've never generalized a group of people before.....

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

Oh I most certainly have. I just tend to try not to do it in front of the very same people I am talking about(and again, I generally would be making a more informed and intelligent assessment).

Eh... I am not going to track down examples. If you are that concerned, search the forums I frequent.

And wow I really messed up my statement about not doing it in front of people originally and look like a doofus :)

(Editing my original post, but this quote and Sramota's will show my idiocy! :))

    You beat me to it.

And officially in my defense, I'd say it is less about being a coward and more about being considerate(as well as not wanting to fight a losing battle that only pisses people off or makes me look stupid((ie.. what you have done here)))

Remember: trolling can be almost unintentional, borderline sub-consciuos :)

A troll is like Germany at the end of WW2 - their intention is not to win anymore, but to keep the fighting on as long as possible :)

I'm personally having a blast. "Internet Troll" is an excellent description of me as I am from Scandinavia and my comments HAVE gradually become more hostile ("fearsome"). I wrote the original post in Notepad (to prevent the text from getting accidentally deleted, as text often do in web browsers), but by the time I copy & pasted it back into my web browser the text turned into some sarcastic monstrosity of a negative review of LOTRO. "Point of no return," I thought, "so I might as well post it." What have I done?

Yes we all enjoy perpetuating troll warfare :)

In fact, I'd very much like to walk away from this without having to despise you from here on out. The only thing that would hold me back is that this was your very first post here, and quite likely to be your only post

See? Like I said: trolling can be unintentional :)

Leaving all the specifics aside, I agree with the OP's sentiment. LOTRO very much feels like a 'stop-gap' game to me.

While it is different to WoW, it isn't different enough.

The similarities don't make it less enjoyable as such, but they will (for me, at least) hurt the game's lifespan. I played a year of wow, now I'm looking for something which really feels different. (In the same way that wow feels very different from Ryzom, the game I played previously)

LOTRO's problem won't be that their game isn't good enough (it is), or enjoyable enough (it is). The game's problem will be that a good portion of it's population will be made up of those people who "got bored of wow". If the game doesn't differentiate itself more as it develops, these people will grow bored relatively quickly, because the way the game plays feels very similar right now.

As I said, I am enjoying the game, and I will be playing it for a couple of months, but I'll be jumping ship as soon as the next game comes along, unless LOTRO has a big direction change in the meantime.

Game mechanics wise true there is little revolutionary but then what game is? Its all done before.

I cant see anything wrong with LOTR, so its a bit like WoW, what game isnt? Since WoW was based on a lot of games, the cycle continues.

This is just a ridiculous attempt to say "my game is better", when clearly its a matter of opinion for children.

Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve
