Anyhoo, is anyone on....Flamehammer, I believe its called?  I have a few server specific questions I kinda want hammered out, but mostly I want to start making friends.  It sounds cheesy I know, but the game is going to be much easier for me if I have a good social base.

Reor, level 8 (Desert human?  I start near Khal) Monk.

P.S. And haters, stay out of the thread please.  I enjoy the game immensely, and I wish to discuss it with other who do as well.  Thanks.

I am very happy for you ...because you have found a game to enjoy playing AND because that game happens to be my favorite game too !

If you ever find yourself on the Thunderaxe server....or can't get settled on your server...look our guild up. The Legendary Heroes. You can find a list of our member and other stuff at the Vanguard website or feel free to visit our forums... www.lhguild.com/forums.

Wherever you end up...remember to have fun. If you join a guild and it sucks...find one that doesn't suck..or sucks less than the rest and your game will be much better for it. When / if you can ...but some cheap ram off ebay ...I put in 3gb and it made a huge difference on how my game performed. I too have a low end machine...and lots of ram smoothed alot of things out. I bought my pc3200, 400 DDR2 ram for $60 a gig off ebay and it works fine.

Welcome to the game that sucks less than the rest !

Grats and just ignore any flamers.

You are the biggest walking billboard I have EVER seen in any game. Seriously. Your signature picture looks like it was all polished up, like all Sony products.. But I'll give you credit  - and the rest of you - we better watch out, the minority of fanboys will kill the majority of angry gamers who are sick of being screwed out of their money just so some executive can buy a more expensive tie.

Thats nobodys fault but your own so dont take it out  on us, if you bought it and dont like it to bad  guess you will have to find another hobby. Every game i ever bought needed patched so you go ahead have fun waiting for that perfect game to come along  its not going to happen in your lifetime

I never said I wanted a game that was perfect, and I never said games were released perfect. But - every game I've ever bought that was patched was eventually polished. There have been over a dozen Vanguard patches and still, the game sucks. Don't ever challenge me again.

I really don't understand why people feel its their calling in life to rain on other people's parade when, god forbid, they find a game thats FUN.  Why do you find it necessary to come to a positive thread only to cause dissention?  Have you sunk that low in life that you get your kicks by trying to sway people to your opinion just because you believe its the end all be all truth?  Are you that much of a failure in life?

Anyway, my laptop is actually fairly low end.  2.0 Ghz Pentium M, 256 MB GeForce 6800 Go, 2 gigs of RAM.  Before, it just flat out refused to run, but I lack the funds to buy a new laptop (desktop is out of the question for different reasons) so I just had to patiently wait it out till they fixed the server side performance issues, and thank god they finally did.  I can now run it on balanced at around 30 FPS in high density areas such as Khal.  Hope to see some of yall in game.

Too bad I won't buy this game to check if you are telling the truth.  Too bad of a taste in my mouth from beta.

Maybe one day when they do a free trial.

I'll challenge you ...Do you still play VG? ...if not....when did you play last? You don't like the game..so don't post on the games threads. What are you doing here anyways?

Ya..I pump up the game I like to play. Just like sooooo many have dumped on it because they don't like it. Which one is worse? Which one is part of the solution...and which one is part of the problem ?

I'll be part of the solution...the solution to make a good game...great ...a classic even. Part of that  solution is promoting a postive vibe, telling people that I am enjoying Vanguard , and calling people on obvious bullshit.

It is easier to be destructive than constructive.  Finding flaws and criticising something is very easy, I could jump into any mmorpg and find flaws and criticise the hell out of it.  No matter what game.  In addition people are like sheep, they would rather join the herd than stand up for something.  If its IN to bash something, they will.

We are standing up for something, we don't want future developers to do the same thing Sigil did. Some people enjoy the game. Me? I don't see the point in leaving my current games which are hardly different and paying for a game being developed on release. To the people that enjoy it, good for you, as long as your having fun.

Finding flaws is easy when you have a game full of them. Finding positives is hard when you have a game full of flaws.

I like this game, I dislike most of the developers dicisions. I do not like this game enough to re-subscribe however, not when the game takes the genre and trys to improve certain aspects of it then fails instead of innovating like it claimed to be before release. WoW already did this and succeeded. Underneath all that, there are performance issues, minor to some (like me), and major to others. All the more reason for me not to leave my current games, which run near perfect.

So that begs the question. Will VG be like them in time? Maybe so, maybe not, but there is no point in us paying for that to happen, not when there are games on the horizon. Games that also want our money, but they seem to have alot better chance of becoming something, since a few of them are being made by developers that have been there and done that. The experiance is already under their belts and mistakes have already been learnt.

If anyone is to be named a sheep, it should be the people that follow a shepherd.

If you guys don't want criticism, then your just limiting yourselves and the game you play. Even if it's small. Tell me now. How many of you currently subscribed to VG are willing to stick with it, will you all stick with VG when the sheep are playing AoC or WAR? Do you not think those games have potential? I always hear the argument that VG has potential. Yes it does. It and every other mmorpg that has ever released and is still breathing. They all have potential.

If you have bad breath and didn't know it, would you want someone to tell you? Of course you would. Unfortunately the same can't be said for Brad because he thought releasing under the public's expectations and failing to relise where his own game was heading was the right thing to do. He did it anyway, because he relised how much money and time had been wasted, he needed profit. He wasn't forced to release, he knew he had danced around for too long. Sure he was pressured to release, but not forced.

If you don't want 'haters' in the forums, don't post on a public forum where everyone is free to say pretty much whatever they like.

Critic is important and a key for advancement. Critic combined with an intelligent well-thoughtout suggestion how to make things better is the right way to go.  Yet many posts lack this.  Maybe its a thing of education, no idea.

Come here, criticise and suggest how to make things better, state your point and stand to it but then if you do not like the game, why do people continue to post (or even better write a letter do the developers!) ?

Another point is, the degree of emotionality which people post here, such as you, is just unreasonable and disproportional, this is just a game. If I would build a house and find flaws such as cracks in the wall or water and heating system not working right, then perhaps I would behave a little more emtional.  But, people seriously, relax a little and just let others enjoy what ever they like, no need to force your perspective onto them.

No one forces you to read the posts, no one forces you to be here.

So what exactly is your reason for posting here?

I understand the few people that post their opinions and state little reason why they hate the game. There is also a few people that do the same when they state they love it.

Lovers and haters they all in the same boat.

The same can be said for you, just relax and ignore the haters, play your game and forget what they say.

The day they release a free trial for this game will be the day that Sigil actually has the confidence to show off their product.

I decided not to play Vanguard after seeing the state of it in beta days prior to release.

There is so much potential and if they can ever realize the 'vision' then Vanguard will be worth playing. Unfortunately I think that will be too late and the damage has already been done.

By the time this game is ready to play players will have become settled in other games such as LotRO or some of the titles due to be released in Q4 this year.

I am here for my enjoyment and like to have an overview of all the mmorpgs and whats happening on the market.  I do not think in a binary way, ie haters and fanboys, I prefer to think in abstract shades and play multiple mmorpgs in my (rare free time) (at the moment Vanguard, LOTRO, Roma Victor, ie I only play 1-2h per day spread over these three games) Which all have

their strength and weeknesses.  Anyway, you are absolutly right, lovers and haters are in the same boat, they are only two different "extreme" opposite perspectives neglecting the "inbetween".

You are absolutely correct. Not only is it easier...but people do it because it makes the feel better. By putting something..anything down..puts one in a position of judgement...this is a position of power..least in ones own mind. I know this..because I do the same thing...it's human nature to some extent. To judge anything is to say....I know better than most folks and here is what I think.

That is just one of many ingredients that make people post....

I have noticed that a vast majority of critics  love to critisize BUT never offer any kind of solution....and deffinetly have not acted on a solution. They are just flapping their jaws ( or typeing in this case ) to work an agenda or to feel superior or to try and get people to join them in their misery. People often critisize stuff because it makes them feel smart. They think that if they can see the problem then they must have some kind of special ability..or be real smart. The real smart folks also come up with a solution to the problem that they are critisizing..however...or state that they don't have a solution but are looking for one. The SUPER smart people see a problem...make it known..find a solution and ACT on it !...and keep acting on it till it's fixed or it's realized that it can not be fixed..at which point..most move on.

    Misery loves company..ya know.....

Praise be ... I'm cured!  Such insight and emotional intelligence, you must be a psychiatrist? Thank you so much... for doing this and not even charging us money...

    [gets up from couch]

So let's recap the events here:

    - User A claims that performance has increased over the last 2 months in the title of a post in a general public forum.

    - User B calls it hearsay and says such claims are meaningless without proof. And points out HOW sigil could prove it by releasing a trial and having said performance increase demonstrated live, i.e. the SOLUTION.

    - User C launches a full fledged ad hominum attack couched in psychological terminology.

And from the business perspective: VG subs gained - VG subs lost = near-zero.

    Please define "trolling".

I come here to see if VG has fixed their game (was in CB), to see if there are any hints/rumors of a free-trial coming out so I can check it out, to try and get a feel for whether or not the population is on the rise or on the decline. How is that 'trolling'?  Unless of course you know me better than I do myself, and think I'm lieing when I say that? If that's the case....well... i've already been banned once for pulling a cartman here, and having a limited numer of strikes available, I don't think you are worth wasting one for...

I thought trolling was making inflammatory posts without content? Is the observation that a "better game, a fixed game" could actually increase subscribers if a trial was released to prove that 'improvement' ... a "TROLL" ?  Or is trolling any form of negativty? If that's true, then 99% of all forum posts at this site are trolling posts.... and if that's against the AUP, the mmorpg.com would go broke because no one would ever be here.

Or maybe I should just saying like: "Nah, I think I will just hang around and piss on this worthless game and those that play it. You should go to a sigil OFFICIAL forum and hold hands with your fellow vanboy playmates and sing kumbayah to some midi background music. Thanks. Airhead "

(I've obviously got too much time on my hands writing this... waiting on a big download from work to finish... lol)

hehe... the name 'anarchyart' does ring a bell... maybe i've had a run-in with him before?

But seriously, a late purchase of VG by muwha is not out of the question. I remember eq2 release. I compared wow to eq2, and decided to play wow (friend chose wow... probably biggest reason). Played wow for 6 months, then checked out eq2 via trial again, TROLLED forums (in the sense of mulling around reading and talking), then bought eq2, played, maxed character, purchased all 3 xpacks over course of 2 years.

VG looked big, cool, lots of stuff, just ran like a dog in CB. So really, it's only the posts with titles like "performance improved! check it out" that I even read here, let alone reply to. Maybe they need a few more months before releasing a trial? If they can do it before AoC / WAR, then I'm definately checking it out... i.e. looking forward to it.
