Wanne throw in here, that "people with an old rig" to Vanguard are guys with a Ath64 3500+, 1 gig of RAM and a 6800 gfx-card. So basically people with an "old computer" are people that bought 1500$ rigs 12-18 months ago. "You should probably get a new computer anyways" is a darn slap in the face to normal people...

An OLD computer is a 3 year old 2.8 GHz Pentium IV with 1 gig and a GF5900 Card, THAT is old, and probably  not enough for a newly released game to play. STILL, popular games, like the new C&C, LotRO, WoW or Guildwars manage to get their games running on those systems.

So lets contribute to the yawn thread by stating that Brad McQuaid must be suffering from brain cancer if he thinks that anyone with a normal PC will join their NASA labs tech demo coding salad with cheese. This game has the poorest grafical design performancewise since DnL, and whow, this speaks volumes.

Where in my post did I say I loved the boat and house system? What I said was I loved the pvp and the crafting system, which I have experienced both. Then I said add in the fact of having boats and houses, which means they have them if you want them. The boat and house statement was more for the potential new players.

Both are great features, but not what I was looking for. They are just added incentives.

Oh and for the people that complain about the UI, it is easily customizable. There are already downloadable mods that change the interface just like WoW has. Click Here if you wish to check them out.

The begining is always good in most games, same here.  Wait a bit more, then you'll get the real taste of this game.  You'll be ok if you like bitter and staleness.

Hmm, intruiging input my friend. Mind sharing with us exactly how far into the game you played? Or did you XP zerg to the cap?

Everquest days are over? You might want to do some research into that before stating non-factual things. I know for a fact Everquest 2 is hardly dead. Need something to wash down those bickies?

I'm stating an opinion. Get over it, or talk to your mummy about it. I don't give a fuck about your facts.

Granted it takes a beast of a computer to run it smoothly. I cancelled my WoW subscription after about my 6th day on my VG trial. Yea so what the game still needs content, but what game doesn't? Even after the expansion for WoW I was bored to death about 2 months after. No game is going to keep you forever. You just have to enjoy your time with it, until your next great game comes along.
Vanguard has both of the things I have been looking for for so long. Pointless, fun, addicting FFA PvP, and an awesome indepth crafting system. Throw in boats that you control, and being able to build your own houses and this game is like a dream come true.
If you played VG before and had performance issues, lag, or CTD, go ahead and give it another shot. Most of the performance issues are gone, the only problems you should have now is if you have an old computer. Which if that is the case maybe you should get a new one anyways?
The only thing that irks me is the population. But that isn't because the game is bad, it is because of those people who played it for 5 minutes, had lag because they are running on a 5 year old computer, then ran to the forum boards and complained about how bad the game is. So many people are unwilling to even try the game because of these people. Just give VG a shot. Who knows maybe you will fall in love like I did. If anyone is really willing to give it a shot, let me know. I have a buddy pass that I am willing to give away to that one person who will put it to good use. Be prepared though, there will be a test to pass before you get the pass. Based on what mmorpgs you have played, and what you liked.
For all those VG haters, WoW fanboys, or whatever you wanna call yourselves; don't bother flaming me. I love VG and no amount of he said she said is going to change a thing. My only reason for this post is to inform all those people thinking about trying VG and needing that extra push, that this game is worth it.

The population is there....it's just really spread out. The world of Telon is absolutely massive AND it has been scaled down ALOT in attempts to launch the game as quickly as possible. It's scary to think how huge it will be when the start adding new land masses ..and they will...likely with the first expansion

For the same reasons...find a group can be difficult at times for the same reasons...people are so spread out. Join a good guild with at least 50 active ..or one that intends to grow to at least 50 active and you should be ok in that department. There are numerous..seemingly fine guilds on each server with 50+ active....many with 100+ active and a few with 300+ active. ( that's too big imo...but if it's working...its all good )

Welcome to the game that sucks less than the rest !

i quit vg because of the bugs. rest of the game seemed ok.  so when bugs are fixed i will return. thats because compared to most other mmos the whole gameplay feels more non casual and non linear to a hardcore gamer.

LotRO IS a decent game, and I've played (and enjoyed) many...

Yea suuure, they print system requirements on the boxes, well oh, I'm even over the recommended settings and OH, it doesn't run nicely, not even close to nicely. In fact this game is code-cancer performancewise, but that's not the actual problem, the actual problem are the lies, the big fat piling lies that The McQuad Crew spread while hyping the game, like third generation, for everybody, without tedium, third geenration innovations... Simple, plain lies...

While other games announced and delivered exactly what was expected...

I am playing LotRO because my old rig died and my new rig has a crappy geforce 6100 onboard and I can't afford a new card until after I get married. So I literally can't play Vanguard, but LotRO is free for another 5 days so I'm playing it. As soon as I can afford my new card I'll be back in Vanguard.

Seeing as you don't like Vanguard or LotRO, what DO you like?

Lotr is a good game..no doubt....enjoy the experience and we will see you back in the world of Telon when you get a good rig going again !

Actually, I agree with him.  Brown is so common in the graphics that it overwhelms everything else.  On top of that, anything that is green or any other color is understated and pale increasing the bland world feeling.  Not so sure why Sigil is so afraid of colors that aren't brown.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

Glad your enjoying VG and I hope it lasts, just don't rush to 50th as its a solid grind, take your time and enjoy the game, there is a ton of stuff to see and do which many rush past in the pursuit of max level.

I am in no rush for 50th, 39th currently and loving every minute.

Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve
