Could somebody please explain to me what exactly it matters wether or not the person at the other end of your data streams is male or female?
I mean if they're friendly they'll still be if they're female. And if they're jerks they'll still be if they're male. What does it matter lol. I personally play games to have fun. Not to find my next date.
So really, what does it matter if 50% of the male population is currently plotting against the other 50% by claiming to be female? As long as they're friendly, show some level of intelligence and treat me with respect I couldn't care less. Neither would I care If I suddenly found out that the entire female population is plotting against me and that it suddenly turns out that only 5% of all games is in fact male.
So until dinners by candle light are suddenly handled digitally or "One-Night-Stand: Online" is released I simply don't see why it's so important to discuss the gender of players?

I have played MMO's for around 10 years, I got gotten to know alot of good people on these games... And alot of bad people... But what gets to me is all these 'FEMALE' characters running around claiming they are female in real life. And everytime these people are put to the test, they fail. And still to this day I am convinced that females do not play these games, or they do in such a minority the likely hood of ever coming in contact with one will be minimal. So the odds are, if one of these 'so called RL females' say they 'are' female they are more than likely decieving you. Pure deception... I suppose it's one of those things that can't be stopped. There are several real life fem players out there to be honest.
On L 2 you'd be quite surprised to find that almost 10% of all players on Gustin server are fem players.
My alliance on Gustin has 8 fem players, again, Ventrilo certified females!!!!

LOL, "One night stand: Onine" I think that game might pull in a lot of money.... I have my own version of the X rated MMO, but I'm not going to put my idea out there until I win the lottery and develop it myself.
I would almost agree, but somehow I don't think so. I've seen my fair share of just what you describe, but personally, I've known quite a few very good looking females (in RL of course, some of whom I actually first met in game) who play online MMO's. Most of the ones I know are dedicated to playing the game and not trying to get picked up on though.....and usually have a lot of sharp witted comments for anyone who tells them "asl"....LOL.
And be wary of female char's trying to pick up on you....they most likely are NOT female, LOL. A woman can stand on a street corner and eventually get approached (given that someone finds them attractive enough to approach) so why would they try to get picked up in a game, lol.

Because Im not trying to decieve you..i just want to play this freakin game. I dont need free stuff nor do I need help unless I request it. I prefer not to get on Vent/TS unless I'm raiding or group pvping. I want to be able to make a female toon and be able to play this game without being treated like im special or that I owe you something. My tone might seem harsh but I dont think im the only female who feel this way. For the record, most guys dont ask or dont harass me if they do know. Some of these guys I respect and call friends. I wont lie to you if you ask, but dont expect me to show pics or get on vent just to "prove" anything. Frankly...I want to be treated like any other gamer..girl or not.
I don't care much about guys playing female characters because they wanna check out their avatars arse, or a female character just fit the role better in the case of roleplayers, etc. I have a female character I have played in every game from EQ on, but you bet your bippy people know I'm a guy. Guys playing fem characters that try to pretend to be female are annoying. Mostly because 9/10ths of them are so god damned bad at it. Calling everyone hun, /hugging, /kissing, flirting constantly. Geh.
The only thing more annoying that them, is actual women that do the same damn thing. Ex guild leader used to do that, and I know she was A) actually female, and not like that normally from guild officer discussions in vent, and the like.
All MMO girls are not fat goth girls My girlfriend is under 110 and pretty tall. Once in a while a guy will be like "omg ur a gurl" and I always tell her to get some gold off him, if he's trying to hit on a girl through an online game to get some e-gina he deserves the gold loss.

We play these games but some of us stick to male toons to avoid Male harrassment. Granted its nice that you all seem so overly generous but you all can be highly annoying thinking you need to baby us. Hell some of my worst opponents have been other females in these games. We're here we just want to play the game most of us aren't looking for some gamer guy to hit on us, some of us are married and prefer not to have jealous husbands causing problems (which has happened to a few female gamers I know, hubby got all jealous they were 'meeting' someone else which wasn't true). Plus ever think the reason the people you've experienced saying they're a woman don't want to show their face or hide their voice is they don't like you enough to wanna share it? Or they don't trust that you're really a female.. *eyes your bio suspiciously* I'm just highly more supicious of people in games asking for RL stuff and i hate the she's so girly comments when I've used Vent. The point of the game is to take on a toon and play a game not get mac'd on. Who cares if the female toon is really a female toon unless you've been purposely lead on in some romantic fashion I think this post is highly ... well just come on who cares?

I agree with the rest of the posters. You sound like a perv. Why would any woman need to convince you she's a real female by sending you pics or voice chat? What business is it of yours what someone's "real" gender is in a game? IRC has plenty of cybersex if that's what you're looking for, in which case it might actually matter what someone's gender was in real life. In a game I could care less if you're a guy or girl behind your avatar, cause I'm not there to have sex with anyone, i'm there to play the game.

I don't particularly care male or female.. I just assume everyone is a bro, unless they vent with me... I normally have a group of about 10 or so people that are on often enough to play games with that I have been friends with for a while and 2 are gals from New Zealand.... So, I can say for sure that females do play these games but if you are actively looking for one - you won't find them... Only reason, I knew them at all was from being in a Quake Team Fortress clan with them back in the day...
Pretty much both of them despise getting hit on which is about 99% of what online gamers do... Despite the fact they both pack a box'd lunch.
