I would get extremely excited if someone were to design an MMO based on the collective works of:

Robert E. Howard: King Kull, Solomon Kane, Conan, Bran Mak Morn, etc. image

Edgar Rice Burroughs: John Carter of Mars series, Pelucidar, Tarzan image

Michael Moorcock: Eternal Champions (Elric of Melnibone, Corum of the Silver Hand, etc.) image

Ursula K. LeGuin: A Wizard of Earthsea image

These are the old masters of the sword and sorcery genre, the tale weavers of high adventure. God I miss their ilk.

    Hmm..

Perhaps a MMORPG set in a Vampire Hunter D-Dostoevskyian setting (kind of like a classic Jack The Ripper setting with a fantasy/sci-fi flare), where players can choose from an array of races, including: undead (vampires, ghouls etc.), mutant/cursed (werewolves, freaks), humans.

Classes would be distributed in a classic EQ fashion: Racial constraints etc.

Vampires would be intrinsically more powerful, and could climb on walls etc.

(Imagine leaping from roof-top to roof-top, as a vampire or werewolf, in an Industrial-Age setting in London!)

That would be my first choice...

My second, less creative, choice would be some sort of MMORPG based off of THE ORIGINAL Zelda for the NES (Legend of Zelda I believe? My parents sold all of my stuff before I even left for college... the bastards)

It has, irrefutably, the best theme music of any action rpg/ rpg to date.....

There could be various factions that were present in the first few games: Hyruleans, The Moblins, Undead Guardians and of course: gannon's followers.

Same EQ style job constraints would really allow for some nice rping (at least for this sort of theme).

"Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say 'ni' at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred."
    MP

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

I thought Deus Ex was a great single player RPG. I would love to see it as a MMOG.

A team PvP and PvE MMoRPG based on one of the greatest movies ever made "The Road Warrior" would be awesome if done correct.image

Another to add would be CyberPunk done willian gibson style - Neuromancer anyone.  Maybe even Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash or even Something like bladerunner for that noir style of cyberpunk.  If you really want a dark MMORPG go K.W. Jeter with a Dr. Adder style game.

Bah, Road Warrior, Fallout. Both post-apocalyptic. But fallout already has an established history. You would have to piece together the small bits and pieces from Road Warrior.

Very good take on a fantasy horror genre mmorpg. Several of us here and in a couple of other post would really like to see a company or group of individuals attempt a horror type mmorpg. Some of us have suggested maybe modeling after the White Wolf paper & pen games. Your take on it is very interesting.

To all that have suggested Fallout, imageimageimageimageimage. Thats equivalent to 5 stars btw.

I saw this thread a while ago with people saying how they'd love a White Wolf MMPORG e.g. Vampire the Masquerade and thought "I'm sure the website for that's been up a few months now, someone'll say" but it looks like no-one has:

    http://www.vampirebloodlines.com

It links of the White Wolf website so I assume it's koscher (sp). Don't know if it'll ever see the light of day (ahahahahahahah- Sorry) but it's there. The site's quite swish as well.

Give me a mmorpg based on the game SHOGO mobile armor infantry and something like Robotech. In shogo you could walk around in a mech and also you went out of your mech to go shoot inside buildings. I would not like it to BE robotech, but have the possibility to go into space and huge asteroids or battle it out on planets. Would of course have to be fps.

Petroslav it could be a hybrid mmog/mmorpg. Where you go up in rank and in lvl based upon xp from combat. You would have different skills that you could develop that would allow you to access better attacks and /or defenses and quicker target id and lock on. As you progressed in rank and lvl, you would be granted access to better mechs and battle armors, newer techs and so forth that you could purchase. Lots of possibilities with clans and groups based on the shows. Yes, it definitely would have to fps, but it would be fun. Would have to be done better that MechWarrior though even though it was a good game in it's own right and time.imageimage

YESYES!!! and swarm missiles. Lots of them. That would have made my day.

I am not sure if it has been said. Mechwarrior would translate into an MMORPG rather well. There already is a well established story and the game is already in 3D. Only hard part is making the skill sets match the world.

Ok, I have spent my time reading the whole thread, and I am excited that noone mentioned this idea!!

Fahrenheit 451 MMORPG!!!!  How great would that be.  Secret meetings of knowledge the classic GvE.  Plenty of pvp and guild battles!

I truly like the idea of having a week entity, a hidden people who do things in secret.  Under the streets in dark buildings.  Slow preparing for an attack.  Who wouldnt want to be that?  And then the other side, the strong force, gets all of the pillages, walks the streets.  Truly the strong entity.  Has the easy ability to all the great weapons.  Who wouldnt want to be that?

    FAHRENHEIT 451!

    Thats my take...

Starship troopers? I'd play it but man... it'd be kinda crazy in a way... it seems like it would work better as a multiplayer games with maybe a network of persistent lobbies (see Phantasy Star Online for details...)

Now I need someone to shoot me...

I want a Harry Potter MMO-- Hogwarts Online...

I want to be able to create a young wizard and take him through classes, yes, lessons in crafting, combat and puzzle solving that are fun to take part in and advance your character, play quidditch of course, and basically build up your spells, potions and other disciplines as you advance through your schooling.  Explore the increasingly dangerous areas surrounding Hogwarts, and for that matter, the dungeouns within the gates, take part in various storylines, discover and create magical items, acquire animals/mounts,

Okay, you can shoot me now... I just tried to make school fun...

    Naruto MMORPG.

The Progressively changing world revolving around different nations of elemental propertys. Everyone has ninjutsu, and each is very much specific to your area or blood.

You could specialize in melee only or an all round player. Or go all Jutsu and have low power. Specialize in Shuriken throwing of all genre's, or be a puppeteer.

Massive Character customization, and I would prefer it to be Cell shaded like the Naruto 2 game for gamecube JP.

For missions you would be given them by the -Kage of the villiage depending on your Level (gennin, chounin, junnin, ANBU).

Have it like SWG, where after playing for a while you can unlock a character slot with a bloodline limit. Pick which house you'd want it from and you could learn special jutsu only available to that house ontop of every other possible jutsu.

To gain new Jutsu you would have to either get training from various people throughout the world who are the ONLY ones who could teach it to you (quest) or develope it independently based on different spects of it (ex. Martial Arts + Shodow Replication + shuriken throwing = melee combo with multiple shadows->kick into air -> shuriken to stomache)

All my ideas are basically IMPOSSIBLE FOR AN MMORPG and wouldn't happen due to copyright issues. Unless it's made by the company who makes the Anime
