This thread is just asking for flames..... So here's one.... Veteran players will not come back not because SOE are supposedly bringing the old features back, but because they have been lied to, cheated out of their money and had all their progress taken away from them with no compensation for the time that they spent getting that progress. The reason I say they, is because I spent most of my time roleplaying and socializing in pre-cu SWG so I did not feel the full brunt of the patches that were introduced, but for all that, I had the community I really liked taken away from me and I had friends there that I now probably will never meet online again because I didn't have a chance to get their contacts out of game, the loss of the pre-cu SWG wasn't just a nerf, it was an entire community an entire several years worth of development and gameplay.
If you're honestly looking for compensation, you should look at the SOE EULA, and realize "Hey, this is a game, my compensation was the time I spent playing the game." I can understand your loss, but do not blame it on the NGE, some people quit because they get bored of the same thing, which is why I left SWG even before the CU, hell, I never even PLAYED the CU, I dropped some skills to take up master doc and just logged off one day and didn't come back until NGE and found I was level 69, I was pissed, sure, but I got over it and kept playing. (But this was after a heated argument with a CSR). I don't even see why they have to be as blind as to not put up "Classic" servers, which would essentially triple their current monthly income. But hey, they want to make a dumb decision such as that, so let them have their way and find something else to play.
Nah..April 05 was the time when SWG started to lose me, just went down from there..There has been to many things changed that doesnt appeal to me..But SOE may try CU3 third times a charm it needs it..Actually if i think if they took the best parts of the last 2 systems, and improved them polished it,.Then post asking for more players to come back wouldnt be needed..
Whats this about a free trial? How do I play why old characters on a free trial? If thats possible I'd like to TRY it out again....only if its FREE though.
does combat change from point and click to somethink usefull? do we have our 32 profs back ?
are there different types of XP possible other then combat xp ? Is Jedi hard to obtain ? is Jedi Ranking back in place ? do they get rid of classes and levels ? is visible combat que in place ? and ...and ...endless list and the most imporatnt question , is another company in charge for to maintain game and servers other then $OE ?

Combat before was spam the strongest attack over an over on your buffed up fotm proffession.
31 out of the 32 professions were all broken, I played a Ranger and liked to use grenades that would hurt me more than the enemies. You are right though that alteast one of those profs would work, and that would be our token fotm.
Yes the game was great when jedi were hard to obtain, i loved seeing all the AFK hologrinders.
The game always had some classes and levels just you couldn't see them.
My suggestion to everyone, if you want to come back to the game bring a real life friend who never played pre-cu. They will give you a much more objective opinion on the game as it stands now. And it will be funner.

honestly, you need to come back and give it a try after chapter 6 hits. I can tell there is nothing out there right now that compares with the current SWG. Do the free trial....open your mind....give it an honest effort....what could be lost by giving it a try?
Show me another game that is just like SWG pre-CU and I will jump in a heartbeat. The thing of it is....every game that is in development, is nothing like our old game. I hope to see a game like the once we loved...but it simply is not likley. The industry is not GOING TO BUILD A GAME LIKE THAT....EVER AGAIN! It goes against every trend in the current market.

If you have the game installed still, login to Launchpad with your old account info andif you have the trial marked on your account, you'll login as if you were subscribed
I came back. I started over from lvl 1 under the legacy quests system. Under the NGE it works very well. I do miss the Pre CU era but I am actually having a good time. WTF happened? It used to be worse than Trunk Federations 2nd CD after the little guy quit. In fact I messed with Beast Master in Test Center and it was really good. I have to admit the expertise system works. I still miss the skill system. The loot system works although I feel crafters are shafted. But there seems to be a new change in the air. I quit doing PVP so I can embrace PVE- which was a good decision.

I tried it shortly after they came out with talents...err...expertise. I'll admit it was better than when I left in Dec. 2005 but it was still garbage compared to what it was. So no thanks, I won't be coming back.

I have to agree that there's never a better time to come back to SWG and SOE games in general! Especially with Station Access! $30 for 6 great MMOs! Wow. That's a value IMHO! I'm never bored now looking for a MMO to play. Teamed up with Ventrilo and all my friends on that, we never have a lack of fun things to do now!
SWG is awesome now Post-NGE (that's what we call it now with the new Expertise system and Legacy quest series)! I'm enjoying it honestly better than pre-CU! The old system frankly sucked. Everyone knew it. Those of you that are anti-SOE just won't admit it now after NGE released. Alot of good things came of NGE, but admittedly I hated it when it first came out. But after 18 months on...hey. I can live with NGE now! It's become a terrific thing for SWG!!!
So anyways. Me and my friends (most of us have stayed with it through the bad and worst parts of the last 18 months, but now, we're glad we stayed! It's been a LONG-term payoff, with much fun had along the way.
After all...isnt that why we play video games? To have fun and not worry about what someone is doing in San Antonio, TX? I sure don't think about Devs when I play video games. It's about me hanging out with my friends and all of us having a good time!

I can go to Mos Eisley, Theed, Lok, Coronet City, Bespin, Moenia even (just to name a FEW) and find people during primetime hours (after 6 PM Eastern, weekdays or just about anytime on weekends) and find PLENTY of people on Bria! I might add I have found consistently MORE and more people as time goes by as well.
Have they cleared out all those god game houses yet i actualy got lost for like an hour surrounded by like a thousand homes scattered around the place it made me quit il give the new trial a shot im bored
Well funny thing is I would have come back a long time ago if they would not have persisted with the NGE's stupid ass interface and First Person like targeting system which feels clunky and uncomfortable to play. Hell you cannot even have the same camera control you once had you stare at your backside the entire time.I would have been fine with alot of the changes this is the change I cannot stand. I hated the CU when it came out but I got used to it and eventually liked it and was having fun again this never happened with NGE the more I played it the more I hated it and I for the life of me cannot see how you or the current playerbase are enjoying playing this piece of crap the way it is now. I came back for a week on my alt toon to see if he had packed up all his stuff like my main did when I quit and it still stinks Vets do not let these pathetic gamers try to lure you back to the game we once loved because until SWG gets rid of the NGE you will hate it even if there us no other mmo like it steer clear and play Battlefront or something to get your Star Wars Fix. A few things. You CAN change your view to center view pre-NGE! The Expertise system allows you to customize your character so you're not a carbon-mold of every other person in your profession. I know many players of the same classes and no two have the same abilities or powers!
Obviously you are unaware of the changes, so please educate yourself before misinforming or trying to mislead that nothing has changed. MANY people are joining this game, and if it's not veterans returning...it's new people! So that's all I have to say on the matter.
Just go listen to the galaxy report if you want to hear how boring the game still is. A free trial might bring back some smarkly memmories of fun times, but this is the same old broken game with no content.
Yay they added back some one piece of content their major patch took out 1.5 years ago! How can you get excited about that, really are your expetations really set that low?

All in all I'd say this is NOT too bad of a sample for 8:00 AM! Heck, half my friends are not even awake til 10:00 AM or so! lol Mind also that I am a pretty slow writer and spent half of the 15 minutes just writing. I know there were people I missed, so...I guess not bad Bria Server!
A few things. You CAN change your view to center view pre-NGE! The Expertise system allows you to customize your character so you're not a carbon-mold of every other person in your profession. I know many players of the same classes and no two have the same abilities or powers!
Obviously you are unaware of the changes, so please educate yourself before misinforming or trying to mislead that nothing has changed. MANY people are joining this game, and if it's not veterans returning...it's new people! So that's all I have to say on the matter.

Just go listen to the galaxy report if you want to hear how boring the game still is. A free trial might bring back some smarkly memmories of fun times, but this is the same old broken game with no content.
Yay they added back some one piece of content their major patch took out 1.5 years ago! How can you get excited about that, really are your expetations really set that low?

Well done, you're more dedicated then me lol. I generally try to avoid reading big blocks of text that aren't broken up
