The game looks awesome so far, its great that their thinking about what the players will want first and that they want the best game possible, so another 8 months is a great idea, its going to be well worth the wait :D

I'm surprised to see this kind of delay with a game that has EA on it, in my experience with EA they're all rush rush rush, and the product is very poor when first released.

So I'm glad to see that Mythic have been given the time to do this properly, and this is yet another reason I've put trust in the development of this game. Good call by EA Mythic, if they need more time then there's no point in crying about it.

It doesn't seem to have delayed the beta testing, which obviously means they're making sure this game is very neat and tidy on release.

So, who's signing their Guild up for beta? ^^

Ok this is a great thing.  more companies should attempt to do it right the first time instead of just releasing as fast as possible, and causing their customers undue stress and disappointment.  Besides more time to play PotBS.

mythic has the best of the best working on warhammer right now, anyone with eyes can see that EA mythic would be a blast to work at so that where the best graphic animators and programers want to work.  With that said the workers at EA mythic want to work with all the new toys they got that they were talking about that EA bought for them.

Personally that excites me, WAR should have all the newest and greatest tools and toys in it now that they r being funded by EA.

also one quick note about how much of a neat freak mythic is about there games, Imperator Online won i think i was runner up in best in show at E3 a few years ago and they canceled/delayed for a few years the production of the game because it wasnt up to Mythics standard of quality.  If runner up isnt good enough for mythic, they will stop at nothing to make WAR the highest quality game ever made.

it's not a "Great" thing.  It is a "OK" thing to happen.  any delay though shouldn't just be awesome.  i think they could really benefit bringing it out in fall to grab people over winter season.  more people have time to play MMO's during winter months then others.

I can wait. The thing with WAR is like they said, they don't want this game to be just evolutionary, they want it to be revolutionary in every way. The eye on the prize target is Blizzards World of Warcraft subscriber base. Blizzard is great at PVE storylines but they have always lacked PVP implementation. PVP is still pointless and horrible in WOW. This game *WAR* is targetting the PVP crowd and EA/Mythic want this to be much more then just another clone MMO imo.

When this game is released there is going to be a HUGE bail out from WOW and some other games that have PVP. Somebody mentioned Vanguard in comparision? All i can do is laugh at that flop of a game. DAOC was the biggest thing when it came out and so will Wahammer Online be when its finally released.

Like I have always said any communication is better than none from the developers so its good that we are at least informed that the wait will be longer. That being said the game never had a concreate release date to begin with so all this really is a comfirmation of we will take as much time as we feel is needed. The fact is look what polish has done for games like World of Warcraft and Lord Of The Rings: Online as opposed to rushed games like Everquest II and Vanguard.

Sure its bad that we will have to wait longer but we never knew exactly how long we had to wait anyway so I think this isnt so bad not to mention with games like Age Of Conan and The Burning Crusade comming out I think WAR will launch during a relatively quite period which will give it a good launch (and innitial user base). A post Christmas launch did not hurt games like World of Warcraft so I dont think it will hurt WAR.

WoW was polished visually but it wasnt' anymore steady of a game than EQ2 when it launched, it just happened to be made to work on older computers while EQ2 wasn't.    Vanguard though..*shiver* bad....just.....bad.

I love the fact that Mythic gave the fanbase word of the delay first and not the press. Too bad my WAR monthly hasn't arrived yet somehow.

Ha ha no wonder EA is giving them time after seeing the Vanguard Berezina. Yep, I have this vision of some EA Marketingdroid demanding an early release of WAR and Mark just pointing at the smoking ruin that is Vanguard while the Marketingdroid quietly slips away. It's nice to see Vanguard doing some good. :)

I am going to just have to agree with everyone else here on the push back on the release date.

MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.

Stop making excuses for the failings of yet another bunch of unprofessional tossers in the MMORG world!

It's pushed back because the clowns working on it are not talented enough  to get it out on time.  This game was supposed to be released before last  Xmas not after next Xmas! No decent company should be that far out with a forecast.

If they can't deliver - don't buy their product.  Just ignore them and they will eventually go away.

So if I just ignore you, you'll go away? Excellent.

This isn't really a shocker for me, I expected it to get released around Q1-Q2. I'm glad they decided to put more time into the game and not at the last minute.

Not surprised, glad they're doing it.  I'm sick of buying half completed games loaded with bugs and unpolished.  I am glad to know that Mythic cares enough about this game to take a hit in the pocketbooks to make it that much better...that is a degree of devotion that we rarely see in the computer gaming market these days.

Don't be rediculous.  They will still push out the game half-finished when the bean counters decide it's time to recoup costs.

The developers of Vanguard came out with the same old tosh for 4 years before releasing a load of rubbish!  Let's face it, if you can't put together a stupid game in 4 years, you are in the wrong job. Looks like these Mythic monkeys are going the same way.

So uh, with this I'd say you have absolutely no clue about where this game has been. When Climax had it, yes it should have been out by last Christmas. Games Workshop wasn't happy with where the game was so they pulled out. Mythic took over in May of 2005. They decided not to keep any of the existing material and start fresh. That puts us as just shy of 2 years development. Last Christmas was a year and a half of total development time. Name me one MMO that was ever released on just 1 and a half years of total development time. Not even DAoC brought it in under 2 years.

You obviously have absolutely no idea of the amount of work it takes to create a game, especially an MMO!

WAR hasn't been in development for very long, and if it wasn't for the fact that they're using an existing engine (one that they wrote I believe), then WAR would have been in development for a lot longer. It's the same with every game, and every developer.

Do some research on recent games, and you'll soon learn that most of them will have been in development a lot longer than you would have thought.

The fact is, they're all eating burgers!

    And other assorted junk foods!

For two and a half years that's all they've done!

    ... and play pac man.

I know it, because I AM ALL SEEING. NOW I DEMAND YOU SING A SONG.

Your mistaken. This isn't SOE its EA/Mythic. SOE has a habit of releasing Alpha quality games. Things have changed as first impressions now make or break game successes.

if it was me i would do a base version of the game (all content) then go back and fiddle.  that way i have an easier time changing things and if i wanted to i could test it in beta...but thats just me

i am willing to wait for a better game.  LOTRO could have held off for a few more months to ad in that new expansion but they wanted to rush it.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
