You know. That this game is actually one of the better things happening to the books.

I can mention 2 things here that didn't be so good. BUT I liked them I just don't remember them being recieved so well.

    *  Old halfcartoon movie.

    *  Old computer game made originally for Amiga 500.

    So others have failed before.

LOTR:O is just considering those two well done. Just because they was playing it safe doesn't mean they failed.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

aw man i love and own the animated movies from the 70's. In fact the Hobbit was quite popular, and i do not think they thought it failed at all.

I think after Peter Jacksons movies, the standards have been raised even more, demanding quality.

Unfortunately its not, unless they changed something I do not know about. I remember they were charging $10 a month for those "founders", or $200 life time fee (basically 2 years worth, meaning they dont expect people to play it for more than 2 years), and i believe the regular fee now is around $15 a month i think.

While its good someone can enjoy it, to be honest the game in my opinion is pretty bad, especially for being linked to LOTR which is known for block buster like quality. I would have to say the only good thing i found in the game after playing it for 15 days was the instanced "drama" or story scenes. Everything else from mobs to characters and their classes, were bad. From a game design perspective, its just like the rest of turbines products, half-assed. They made a game to sell off of its name not the actual game. Name before game is bad.

But at least you are enjoying it.

Blockbuster quality? In whose opinion? Yours ?

Have you ever seen the original Lotr cartoons? Rubbish if you ask me.

And did you know what tolkiens son thought of the movies? Well lets just say he'd rather have that they weren't made.

Both Dungeons and Dragons, and now LOTR. How does a company, that produces non-blockbuster quality games, get their hands on these franchises? It just amazes me. They do not put a lot into the budget or the game, because they know the name will sell their product, not the actually quality of it. And it shows. The LOTR franchise and the D&D franchise should have been given to a group of developers that were willing to go beyond and take advantage of what each franchise offers. The first thing turbine did wrong is using that damn engine again. There are so many more talented developers and producers out there, its a shame they are not found at Turbine.

I have to agree with you completely. I was myself taken in by the idea of using the LOTR IP, but the engine just...is...is terrible. I hate that engine, especially the way avatars look disconnected from the world in that very strange way.

There is so much they could have done with this, and their ideas really are nice. Good crafting system I think, interesting classes that I think live up to the lore, and the naming thing which I did not expect, but it actually very nice. I think that alone will catch alot of the IDIOTS that there always are who want to be Legolas spelled incorrectly. It happens in any game with a bowman class of any kind. I can't count the Night Elves I have seen with some derivation of that name. But I digress.

It is obvious that they didn't put alot of work into it. The world itself is insipid, and the dialogue shows it. There is nothing interesting in the towns, or the terrain. It seems almost afraid to do anything that might upset LOTR fans like myself. and I am not upset that it betrays the IP. It doesn't. It's just a super-boring place to be, and thus is no fun to play.

=) i am not here to argue. You said that I should have pointed out that my opinions are false. Which is ironic thing to tell someone who mentioned what their opinion was. Does that make sense? I have stated many times that its my opinion, why do i need to keep saying that for your gratification? why should i point out that my opinion is false? that doesnt make sense. Do you really want to debate this?

Erm. Tolkien didn't write scripts of how exactly to make an MMO for LOTR did he? Besides this is a MMO mate, the devs can chuck in all the content that couldn't be added in the films not any of the other LOTR games.

Known for blockbuster like quality.  Ever see the Bakshi animated movies?  Hardly blockbuster.

In film terms, LOTRO doesn't reach Jackson-like perfection of his movies, but they are a damn sight better than a Bakshi movie.

I cringed when I saw Turbine was making this game and after DDO, I had pretty much given up all hope.

Guess what though, it's an excellent game. I'm sorry you are so blinded by what ever personal vendetta you possess to see that.

    Debate over

By that logic, i can safely say that the nazi's opinion of all other people is correct, or that any rascist bigot is correct in discriminating because its his opinion.

Haha, he goes for the Godwinn, and scores! Regardless of the correctness of your opinion, the fact that you stooped to involving nazis mean you lose any current argument, end of discussion. Real classy move their champ.

You take WoW, add a new template, change the theme a bit, and you have LOTR online. I do, however, give credit to the research gone into the developement. Making your character names have to follow Tolkiens guidelines was a good attempt to create a solid roleplaying environment. However, for a game that seems to be aimed at the WoW community, this is completely uneeded. Sorry devs, the fellowship has been broken
You know. That this game is actually one of the better things happening to the books.

I can mention 2 things here that didn't be so good. BUT I liked them I just don't remember them being recieved so well.

    *  Old halfcartoon movie.

    *  Old computer game made originally for Amiga 500.

    So others have failed before.

LOTR:O is just considering those two well done. Just because they was playing it safe doesn't mean they failed. The old movies were great, and you cannot compare LOTRO with a game for Amiga 500....I mean seriously are y ou kidding with that?

    Read again.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Unfortunately its not, unless they changed something I do not know about. I remember they were charging $10 a month for those "founders", or $200 life time fee (basically 2 years worth, meaning they dont expect people to play it for more than 2 years), and i believe the regular fee now is around $15 a month i think. You still didnt answer where i said that you denied your opinion

" You forgot to mention that your opinion isnt true either"

=) i am not here to argue. You said that I should have pointed out that my opinions are false. Which is ironic thing to tell someone who mentioned what their opinion was. Does that make sense? I have stated many times that its my opinion, why do i need to keep saying that for your gratification? why should i point out that my opinion is false? that doesnt make sense. Do you really want to debate this?"You said that I should have pointed out that my opinions are false."

Well, you told someone their opinions were false, why shouldnt you say yours are also false? :P

"Which is ironic thing to tell someone who mentioned what their opinion was. Does that make sense?" Yes, yes it does make sense :3

"I have stated many times that its my opinion, why do i need to keep saying that for your gratification? It will please me :D"

"why should i point out that my opinion is false?  that doesnt make sense." 1. Because it is.

    2. Why should you point out that other peoples opinions are false?

    3. Yes it does.

"Do you really want to debate this?"

    I already did

Noone's opinion is false...it's just THEIRS.
