Well, I think everyone will agree, it's best if the CoX UI had timers for the Task Force missions. BUT, with that said, they don't and it's the player's responsibility to track these things. The OP's situation didn't occur because a timer was wrong or a clock was reset, he just goofed. It happens to all of us and it is unfortunate, especially in a case like this, but there was no "sneakiness" involved in denying him his reward, there was no error in design and therefore no entitlement (imho : ' ) Sorry dude.
The game does have timers. You have a buttload of timed missions with timers all the time. Then you have the escape from the Volcano in the Hess TF which is on a timer.
If you can't tell time then you have no business playing a game where time is relative.
I still don't see why you feel you should be rewarded for messing up the time. Just because there is no timer doesn't mean you should get rewarded for not paying attention to the time.
I have over an hundred data written digilently on a piece of paper about when each character collect a reward. I made 1 mistake once. I don't find normal that I am shafted for that mistake. For all I know, maybe some friends online where sending me tells to switch asap to another character to help them and I comply, stopping to write what I was writting.
A sneaky way to remove my rightfull reward is wrong. Allowing me to click the ACCEPT REWARD on the SHO and then giving me a SO, is a sneaky backstab on the back. I did ACCEPT a SHO, not a SO. A buzz sound would have been fine, a different color, something. If I go at a store and they are out of what I want and offer me an alternative, I can also refuse the alternative and come back later. Here, I am stuck with the alternative after the seller told me it was my original order.
Question: Did you or did you not get a ton of infamy and probably 10-15 lvl 53 SOs? How can you say you got shafted. Give me a freakin break here. I know when I played a lvl 50 villain through the LRSF that not only did I walk away with a SHO (because I remembered when I did it) but I also banked 10-15 SOs and probably about 5 mil infamy.
If you were unaware of your surroundings then once again, I have no compassion. They said and made it abduntantly clear 1 reward per 24 hours. A SO is not a bad reward especially at lvl 53.
What I am more curious about is why throw a stink about this knowing full well that you can get one tomorrow and the next day?
This was and is one of my biggest problems with CoH/CoV - too damn many people crying when they get a nerf or get slapped down when they don't follow the rules of the game. You screwed yourself and no they did not screw you.

FYI, a 53 SO is nothing compared to a SHO. Not even remotely close. Not even worth mentioning you can get those things from just a little bounty in siren's

lmao
How do you figure. WIth ED - a level 53 SO is actually stronger in many ways than a lvl 50 SHO or HO. The only difference between the reward is that a SHO or HO is going to give you a double benefit...ala Nucleolus SHOs - Damage and Accuracy.
But unless you can get a lvl 53 SHO (which is possible by a bug currently but will be fixed in I9) the benefit of the SHO is not as great depending on the set.
For /Regen - Dull Pain - 3 lvl 53 SO will heal better than 3 lvl 50 SHOs. Granted the difference in minute but it is there. So yea...10-15 +3 SOs is a reward worth getting in my book otherwise - no one would have ran Katie Hannon umpteen million times for the 10 +3 SO trick now would they have?
The issue is solve now. The game was changed with I9, and you no longer lose a sho accidentally. I was shafted once, I will never again be shafted by that bug, which is solve now. The devs adds a new feature preventing such an occurence from happening. I will never know, maybe I lost a ribo...maybe...ohhh my precious ribo, where are you?
To DMT: A SHO level 50? Are you kidding me? Pre-I9, nobody would waste a sho and get it level 50, they are all level 52 pre-I9 (and HO are all level 53). As to your example saying a SO is remotedly close...err....you have no idea about what we are talking here; you obviously don't understand that having 3 ACC, 3 DMG and 3 RCH (recharge for best attacks, or endurance for your weak attacks) level 52 is better then having any cominaison of level 53 involving only 6. Or having a snipe attack with 3 acc, 3 mez or debuff, 3 dmg and 3 range, all at level 52...vs only 6? LOL.
Casuals toons are very strong, they do same damage, they have same accuracy, but they lose more endurance and have much worser recharge. Casuals are competing, a good casual player will outdo any hardcore that is clueless, but the toon fully SHO-equipped is a LOT stronger then SO equipped...As for the dull pain example, you are correct, yet a golgi level 52 instead of a heal SO level 53 might be nice for endurance saving if your invul or stone. But dull pain is pretty much the exception that confirm the rule. Build up for example would require only 3 slots instead of 6, so you can put 3 slots anywhere else and still have maxed benefit from Build up...and attacks are a LOT better with shos then with SOs. Recharge and endurance saving are useless in ideal situations involving a good group, but are you always in an ideal situation with nobody DCing ever?
Now with Invention, this balanced is all changed and I have to figure what is best, but prolly a mix of both. Best attacks with SHOs, weak attacks with sets. But that is merely a guess, I have to figure it out still.

yep Anofalye covered it well. just imagine the possibilities. Take an EM/ELA brute. give him access to 3 acc, 3 dmg, and 3 recharge. During BU you can get two Energy Transfers to happen. Now imagine the massacre that will ensue if somehow that brute gets full fury lol.
Yeah, 1 SHO > x number of 53 SOs. It's just not close or worth mentioning. 53 SOs are easy as pie to get in any case. jsut go walk into siren's call, join a team, go afk, and wait in the hospital lol. you can rake in 53 SOs that way. or even easier, roll a stalker and go gank some newbs in sirens you'll get all kinds of inspirations and 53 SOs doesnt take too long
A Hamidon enhancement requires real work to acquire because its wayyyyyyyyyyyy more powerful
I thought this game was really good when I first started playing it with a few friends... Then I started to notice that progression was a bit slow and repetitive but doable as long as you have good company..... Then I was noticing that I never "looked" different than when I started... Then I noticed that, no gear meant that in the end, there was no way to continue to progress.... Then I quit

Have you not been paying attention or is this just a "CoX IS THE SUX0RS!!!!!!" post. The invention system hit about a week ago. Try it out before you give your infallible opinion.

There's just no comparison.
In any case I'm glad the Devs fixed this issue!
