Info on AVENTURINE S.A.

I think they're a Defense contractor. It seems that way, they were listed as one of the Companies that attended the2006 exhibition in Athens Greece on Conventional Systems for National Defense on Land Sea and Air.

What do you guys think? WHy would a Defense Contractor be involved in a MMORPG? I wonder who's backing them financially.

Also this sort of thing to my understanding is an invite only, exhibition is held and representatives from countries are allowed to enter and view the exhibition and the products involved. You gottabe be doing some serious Defense work to get an invite, Aventurine S.A was there and to most people on these boards think there's supposedly a company that's making a vaporwere MMORPG. Thy're gotta have some serious backing to make a game based around soley PVP, maybe it's a tad bit more then just the next game they're might be using that same technology to market it as simulation based war games.
Also found this interesting quote from one of the Developers.

Ok it all makes sense now, Aventurine S.A is a Defense Contractor that's using their past experiance in game simulation technologies to make Darkfall.

The Darkfall project is privately funded by people who are obviously interested in keeping their identities and contributions somewhat under the radar.
No but seriously let's think about this for a sec, who's got the money to keep a project like Darkfall under development for so many years?

lol who own this company that's what I wanna know, they maybe a subsidieary or a spinoff of another company but other then that I havent got a clue.
The quote is pretty new but the information is old. Really old. I thought everyone knew. I've even told it a few times on these forums myself.

You're kidding right?
Could ask why would a Defense Contractor be involved with a FPS game.
Then, along comes 'America's Army'.
MMORPG is the obviious next step in Recruiting and Propoganda for the military.
Not sure I would see this as a recruiting tool. It looks like a company that has done work with wargame software so they would be in a good positiion to make a combat heavy video game with their knowledge. They are not the military afterall, they are just a contractor out to make money, why not use your knowledge to make money in another market.
Who ever really knows though, just my feelings on it.
You should know, if a game like Darkfall does actually come out with all the slated features, it would be a HUGE research magnet for several universities. The social and economic aspects of having a game where anything goes according to the will of each individual player is amazing.
There's already been research into sociology using MMORPGs, I'd be glad to dig the links up, interesting stuff. I'm not saying this has anything to do with Adventerine being a Defense contractor. But they are in no way the military like some of you seem to be inferring....

being devil's advocate here; but lets say it's just another company with the same name. It happens (i know of a few carpet cleaning companies called Stanley Steamers :P)

We have been told before by the DF devs that they are using a new AI. Its the same AI that many armys use for military simulations
This AI is the reason they say PvE is as hardcore as PvP is DF.
I like that point, it does give credability to the OP and perhaps the reason why development has taken so long (so it's done right the first time round).

The aventurine.gr website is hosted on the same servers as razorwax and darkfallonline is in Texas at Theplanet.com.
Aventurine DOESN'T EXIST as a seperate entity and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to go have their heads examined.
RAZORWAX = AVENTURINE. Just a bunch of shmucks that got together thinking they could pull off a mmorpg and are failing miserably.
Err ok Tex, and your proof that Aventurine does not exist is where? I posted more then enough of facts here so that people can make up their own minds. You on the other hand have posted zero of facts and are copy pasting the same crap that has been disposed of quite a while ago.

I spoke with a WoW player today. It was like mastrubating with a pair of scissors, fun in the beginning...then mostly pain.
He could not understand why anyone would have player freedom to do quest. Then i told him there isnt a quest MMO. Thats was impossible for him to understand. Then the conservation went out of hand.
So... aventurine is using this awsome full pvp game to find best strategists for its future campaign to take the world by remotely controled robots? LOL
Or anyone think their defence contracts aren't working out so well, so they wanna make a little extra cash?
Or mabe they are tired of trying to design perfect human emulation npc's, so they made a full pvp game to train soldiers versus leet pvp junkies?
Or mabe it's a little late and I should be going to sleep instead of making up conspiracies...
*puts tin foil hat on* It all makes sense now... Darkfall is being developed by defense contractors... That can only mean one thing..... Since darkfall is about pvp the contractors plan to recruit the best in the game to use their experimental androids to conquer antartica... I Knew it.....
A defense contracter getting into games isn't exactly new. Once a long time ago there was a japanese defense contractor that created military simulations for American troops in Japan. They decided to get into gaming and renamed themselves from Service Games to Sega.
