The kind and amount of changes SOE will make depends on what their business plan is for the game.
Are they just planning on keeping it floating to suck the last few bucks out of the people who are left or are they going to actively try to market the game.
If it's just to get whatever income is left out of it.. I'd think the only major changes will be to start consolidating servers.
On the other hand, if they want to actually re-market it and try to expand the subscriber base.. they're obviously going to have to do a whole lot of reworking the core of the game. And yes, these changes will no doubt be considered "NGE" by the horde of SOE haters out there.
