The kid is obviously trying to escape his life (and his mom). Addictions like these are ALWAYS a symptom of something more. Personally, I'd rather have kids like that turn into game addicts than drug addicts that end up holding me up at knifepoint for some cash. Don't you?
What makes me sick is the fact they call it 'an illness'. It's not an illness! Ask any doctor if there are any physiological symptoms caused by the game.

Looks like he has no father or something or he didn't want to be seen. I think parents now days are way to lenient with their kids, they baby them and give them everything and this is the end result. No rank 10 gear, I mean what kind of pally runs around trying to wack things with his aurastone hammer and not healing his buddies? not only does this kid play a whopping "16 hours" but he sucks at the game. How can you do something for 112 hours a week and still be that bad at it.
mgarcia85 you probably had strict parents so please don't make assumptions on leniancy. My parents were VERY lenient with me and my sister because we wouldn't have responded to hostility. Not every child is the same and that's for the parents to figure out what works or not. Some kids can become screwed up in a strict environment just as well as in a leniant one. There's no proven technique

QFT. The kid is playing 16 hours/day and only running around in crappy Lightforge? I guarantee those holes he put in the wall were from wipes on Van Cleef. This kid needs a new hobby, I don't think MMO's are his cup of tea.
This kinda reminds me on a Counter Strike debate, after a kid in germany bought a gun and shot half of his school. Noone cared aout his private life, wether he had any friends or WHERE THE HELL DID HE GET THAT GUN FROM. I belive the only thing that came up in TV and papers was "KILLER-SPIELE*"! I mean WTF? Do the medias realy hunger for sensation that much that tey would sell the people any crap just to increase their popularity??

I agree but whatever she was doing was not working if its been going on this long she needs to cut off the internet, its that simple make him get a job. And in a way it is an illness for one thing the kid claims he is not addicted and can quit anytime he wants yet he sits there for hours on end did you notice his eyes? Did you notice how skinny he was? It is very vital to his health and he does not want to recongnize this.
And yes psychologically he is having issues because psychologically and emotionally he is addicted.

im going to do some research or the human chain work in factories see if its the repetitiveness that causes that or its simply the lack of brain cells
