I think there are good elements of both games. The pre-CU had great concepts, but the implementation was horrid. If SOE/LA are taking a look at what concepts can be integrated with the current system, then all the better. I would've have loved an open bounty system and the ability to use NPCs for events back in the day.

2 years ago I was in a pretty bad car accident. I got t-boned by a drunk driver and the impact pretty much shattered the left side of my body. I have steel rods in my leg, arm, a plate in my skull and had to have my jaw rebuilt . Funny thing about it is I stopped bitching and moaning about it more then a year ago. I still bitch on occasion when I have to fly because it take me 3 hours to get through security because of all the bloody metal in my body. Server population ratings mean absolutley nothing. Logging into the game and checking it out and making up your own mind is all that matters. What good is a heavy server if they're all afk and logged into MMORGP.com saying how much better their game is than ours was.

this thread is merely to show the population of the servers. I myself think there low but all I'm doing is showing people who may want to return from a lot of servers being heavy to what they would see.
I tried it out again a few months ago for a month sub and the populations are a joke. CLEARLY, and for you FanBois aka "Target Audience" NGE'ers, I repeat CLEARLY, once again, CLEARLY, SOE has adjusted the population indicators to make the populations seem larger than they are.
When the game launched, or day 2, a Heavy server had thousands upon thousands of players, it was easy to see.
I was on Bloodifn less than 2 weeks ago and I counted MAYBE 100 people, and I was on at night. I was at Mos Eisley (where most the people like to hang out these days) and there were maybe 50 or so.
There aren't 10,000 people still playing SWG, and it's obvious after walking around the galaxy for an hour or so that NO ONE plays it. I don't care what anyone that still plays the game says, as of 2 weeks ago the population was pretty non-existent. I made toons on Bria and Bloodfin, the 2 most populated servers, and it was hard to find people, and I went to all the hotspots.

No, I'm being quite serious. We found a population count taken that was posted for only minutes on the old Lithium board back in March of 2006, that showed the populations of each server. It was verified through IP neotracing each individual server. Sorry to say, the largest population was probably like 800, and that was only 6 months after the NGE hit. I don't see any influx of people on the SOE servers to show otherwise. I posted this very thing on the SOE boards months ago, IP's and all.
Besides all that, I played SWG the day it launched, I played it during the CU, and I have played it some during the NGE. I know whether or not there are people playing the game. I even tried to play the NGE with an open mind, I really did. I tried to find some groups. some players, anything worth doing. All I found was that there is nothing worth doing and no one to do it with.

Ok I play SWG and yes we need a server merger and soon there are only 3 to 4 servers that have any real amout of players on them the rest are allway light to very light with that being said this game is not dieing it just needs a new server merger and the game will be fine its starting to feel like a fun game again just need players to enjoy it with now more then ever since CH # ^ hits 2maro and we will need to group for elites and boss mobs peace out nuff said

The game's pretty much empty (Ahazi, my old server, still has medium though (yay.)). Why the hell haven't they rolled up the servers to save the flagging population yet? They need like a 5:1 roll-up.
I bet they don't have the tools to manipulate the database. If I remember correctly, their database was complete shit when the game started. Like stupid-bad. That is why they had to have daily downtime. (And I think they were the first to have daily downtime, at least that I played.)
Too bad they don't have a time display on that. It'd have been more telling (one way or the other) if that were on a weekend during prime hours.
It would seem a server roll up would be quite difficult because every item has a unique id, plus the game has been runing for so long, the database for one server must be gigantic.

Ddue, I played it again last month for the month. I played on Bria and Bloodfin. There are no players... I know when there are people playing a game. Regardless of what you say, which is obviously biased, I came back to give the NGE a fair shot, to find something to do, and to my shock it seemed there were actually LESS players now than in December 05.
I'm sure some people re-subbed for Chapter 6, and BM, but that won't last. Quit false-advertising to get people to waste their time playing.
