As far as I can tell, Mystara is the initial setting, while the Hollow Worlds are inside Mystara Hollow Shell...Spelljammers is in space...then GreyHawk cames....
But yeah, any D&D setting would be droolicious. It would be easy to add Planescape as an expansion and link any other desired world at a later point.

I would kill for a tactics orge game, as long as they don't change the turn based style or make it cartoony, its a great story driven, tactical rpg game. Was orginally on the snes, under the name march of the black queen, then followed with let us cling together which is the best rpg game i have ever played, even better than elder scrolls
The only flaw with this game and an mmo is people not being able to attack during someone elses turn, but that can easily be solved with a time limit before it goes to the other guys turn.
Either that or The elder scrolls online, encouperating all of the lands depicted in the series As long as it was made by bethesda and not a 3rd party, and also if they take this game leveling with you crap and through out the nearest window
Either those or a mature version of the pokemon games, i find the go collect monstors and raise them gameplay great, its surprising no one has made a mature version of this game.

yeah i was just talking to my friend about that... Elder scrolls would be an excellent MMO, yeah they need to get rid of the mobs leveling sametime as you, but other then that they have an excellent story thats very original that could create a really fun game.
Funny, many of us lend criticism to games here on MMORPG.com and the most common complaint other than bad performance is that the games have a lack of imagination.. IE boring quests, linear stories, stilted plot lines... Then when someone asks about the MMO's we would like to see, everyone spews out titles of books, movies and table top games. (well there was the mobster idea) How can we be critical of the games we can play for lacking creativity and uniqueness if we can't think of anything more original?
Existing IP's should be avoided...People need to be able create, build and form something completely original. An example of some game design that is venturing in this direction is SPORE (Will Wrights new game in dev) Now I don’t mean to say a game can't be good when based on an IP... but how much leeway will the Devs have with the property? How much will the rights cost? How much "lore" is there to build upon? IE LOTR is really just four books... While a fan will certainly find enjoyment and emersion there... how can a sustained experience be maintained? Compare to the Conan property... over 80 books, and decades of comics. (The movies don’t count as they are derivative of the books) It would seem the Conan property has more "stuff" to sustain a long term game environment. I guess what I'm saying is... you may have liked this book or that series, but how does that translate to a long term game experience that is fulfilling
It's funny, I agree with you entirely.
MMOs should begin to be based on original IPs. What happened to all the 'creativity' you guys are looking for?
I'd like to see an original steampunk-styled setting for an MMO. That could be sweet. I'd take cyberpunk as well, but I think steampunk with magic thrown in could be an awesome game, especially if it was carried off well. Lots of Victorian-style architecture, heavily urban settings, revolvers and rapiers abound...
I'd even be happy with an original high-fantasy IP if the game was done well.

Ya know I would like to see more of a gory MMos, there are too many cartoony MMOs out there, and maybe have it like almost a scary kind of MMO and make your chracter fight ghosts, ghouls, vampires, etc or you can be one of the mosters and constantly ravage and turn people into to vampires, werewolves, ghosts, ghouls etc
This topic keeps coming up and I never tire of throwing some answers out there.
Games I'd like to see based on licences:
Dragonlance
Steven Erikson's Malazan (this world just begs to be made into a game)
Transformers
Licences aren't really a ticket to a good game though, as LOTRO has shown (some like it, I do not). Another thing I would love to see is a game where you can play a side or race that is truly evil, where the players can set up a black market, assassinate NPCs or players, burn and plunder villages and generally have the ability to perpetrate wicked deeds (and be rewarded for it).
I don't know how many people remember this or even played it but I would like to see an MMO based on the one player game of Magic the Gathering.
All it was was a dude with a magic deck walking around beating up on other dudes to get more cards in order to build his deck. Vanguard has tried to bring this into the MMO world but without taking it all the way to the PVP level or giving substantial credit to the idea that the most fun part about winning cards to build your deck was taking them from other players like pink slips.
Everyone knows that magic rules. What better game for a lot of people to play than a game that offers on the spot competition with an already existing and well known set of rules and which could be played using a graphical representation of ones wizard.
I'll take it one step farther into the Yugio franchise and say allow the players to actually see the effects of their cards in play. Not a lot of twitch but all strategy and fun for anyone who can get a basic understanding of how to play.
And the beauty part? The basic engine for it already exists. Just dig up an old copy of Magic the Gathering.
Here's a great idea. Imagine this - a world where you can build your own superhero, name him, and make him look however you want. You can get special superpowers based on your class, including travel powers like super speed or flying or even teleportation! Maybe there could be a sequel to make your own villains. Such a brilliant idea, I wonder how nobody has thought of it yet...

too bad its already been taken.... CoH/CoV was kind of a disappointment for me, it didnt really give me the feeling of being a super hero.
A MMORPG that has a helmet you that makes everything virtual. Your character attacks as you move him by control. You die, you feel a like spark. It's like that
Simple.
Your actions, your words, are said to everyone around you. Your life, is the life of the character. If your charcer die, OF COURSE you don't die, but you feel the little eletric shock
Something along the lines of this. Not the same game, but a different and unqiue game that hasn't been thought out yet. A virtual game that lets the gamers experience 200% of how it is suppose to feel like: nirvana

I have heard of the game, but i think your idea is kind of far into the future. The shock would be kind of unapealing, i think just the normal" damnt i died" would be enough, but other then that i think it is a good idea.

CoH/COV will not be the only show in town soon enough. And although I would never say a bad thing about COH/COV let's hope that Cryptics next release gives it's fanbase even more of what the superhero type is looking for.

Yeah i saw that a little while ago, I completly agree, however i still want to see some better hero attributes about it.

Greyhawk was not the first D&D world...
Without any effort I can name:
- Mystara (Thyatis, Alphatia, Karameikos, Darokin, Alfheim...etc)
- Hollow Worlds
- Spelljammers
