Hello Fellow Gamers,
I'm curious to know what everyone prefers playing when they adopt their online persona's. Personally, I am eternally a Warrior, fighter, mercenary. Its simple, the armor graphics are usually cool, and I don't have to think too much. Let us know what and why you enjoy playing that class or persona.

hi, i like to be a mage spell slinger, but i prefer crafting before fighting, i think being able to make a great weapon or armor for someone is tops. i dont care for PVP so crafting fits up my alley. seems most ppl here forget about the crafting skill when they make a poll. but once in a game its one of the first ppl they look for is someone to make them something. check any game out and pages for weapons armor and such never stops. i made about 200k a day in UO selling my wears from my vendors at my house. and since i had every craft Job GMed it was a one stop shop for anything that could be made in the game. to me thats fun and exciting to be able to do that. yes as a break i would lvl my mage/tamer/thunter up and was a gm in that also, so i could enjoy both sides of the game.
im hoping EQ2 or Odessey X or Vanguard will have a great crafting system to have fun learning.
rogue/scout for me
I've always loved to explore and as a rogue you have freedom to go places that noone else can match. Also I LOVE stealth and being sneaky for example in Shadowbane I played a scout. I would be standing around a enemy group just watching them and they wouldn't have any idea I was there and that I was calling my guilds army to come destroy them. Scouts rock!!!
my next most played class is the healer. I enjoy helping people, having the life of every person of my group in my hands is a thrill for me!

I generally prefer a rogue/scout or thief class, but i like how UXO is doing their classes. In UXO you have a path and a discipline, for example there is the path of the blade, or the path of nature, and in each path there are three disciplines. So in the nature path there is the ranger, druid and shephard. The ranger is your typical archer, the druid is the nature mage, and the shephard is like an animal tamer/shapeshifter. So once you pick your path and a discipline you are allowed to pick skills from any of the other disciplines. So you can have a ranger as your main discipline and then add abilities from the druid, since each discipline has 18 abilites thats a possible 54 abilities. It also isnt set up in a skill tree system where you need one skill to unlock another, instead its in a tier based system where every so many level the next tier opens up to you and you are allowed to choose from new skills. Lastly the skills are setup so that each skill is unique, so there isnt like a firebolt then fireball then explosion, it is setup so that even when you reach your maximum level the first skill you ever got is still useful.
Add in virtue abilities and the possibilties are almos endless. That would just take too long to write about so ill just say that if this sounds interesting check out

Personally I have a multiple preference:
Warrior class - because personally I actually enjoy getting beat the snot out of by a monster, anyone who knows me in-game knows that I would gladly be willing to take on for the team, which is why warrior classes suit me, if they are needed, then I can be one. I enjoy doing melee damage as well, and warriors can get some cool skills sometimes.
Wizard - Well, I don't always want to be a warrior class, so sometimes I enjoy playing the wizard type, quite fun to play with all the spells you are given in MMORPG, as well as de-buffing with them is fun as well. Overall, it's a nice break from warrior when I am sick of that class.
Other (de-buffer class)- personally, I enjoy playing the de-buffer class as well time to time. Those classes help a great deal in combat, and like I said, I'm willing to take one for the team so to speak, if that's needed, I'd gladly be one. I was a necromancer (de-buffer) during GW demo, and I enjoyed every minute of de-buffing.

I personally like long range classes so a Ranger/Archer would be one I would like cuase of the bow use and the fastness of them. I also enjoy spellcasters long range and i get to use alot of different fun ablilities.
p.s. good topic

Well I psionics most as one may can see by my name
But most games don't have this...
Thus said in Pen and Paper I always Mages or shaolin style Monks if there are no psionic of cuz hehe.
I MMORPGs I mostly end up with Melee since I they mostly seem to give me best immersion feel in CRPG style enviorments.

Everyone loves ghosts and goblins
It's mage 90% of the time for me, there's nothing quite like mezzing a mob and sending in some pet or beast you've tamed/created to go finish the job off for you ) Although in the good ole' AD&D days I was always playing clerics, anything which let you control undead was ace
I've never really been into PvP, as a support class unless you've got a good team of tanks + clerics around to protect you then there's no point even trying PvP so i've tended to stay away from it really.

I voted for fighter class, because thats the closest to my preferred class.
I love being a paladin and going round cleansing the world of the scourge of evil .
What i would really love to do however is play a proper thief class, where you can actually steal stuff and your ability to unlock doors and traps is actually of some use.
It would be nice to place some traps and ambush a plate clad fighter knowing that your traps actually let you stand a chance in the combat. Or assasinating someone by sneaking up behind and slitting his throat.
However no games take this class seriously enough to make it work. And it just ends up as a weak fighter or a ranged class.

Personally I prefer healers. I have 2 very good reasons.
1. People always need you. You get tomeet lots of interesting folk as a healer. True you have to deal with the occasional heal-me-then-i-dont-give-a-!##%-about-you-anymore kind of person, not to mention the heal-me-or-i'll-flip-the-bird-on-you type, but everybody is always happy to see you. They're great for RP-ing.
2. As a healer you dont have to worry about spending money for potions. In the games I play You can just wait till you charge up sufficiently and boom you can heal yourself and move on to the next battle.
The only real drawback to healers is they arent that strong as far as hit points are concerned, but man are they sturdy.

I usually go spell caster or the Martial Artist if they have one, like the Monk in EQ.
And out of the spell caster classes, I usually use a Pet class. I like to solo a lot, and the pet classes are usually fairly adept at solo'ing.

I can have fun in most any class. To date my favorite is still the Wizard. I like the raw power wizards wield in most MMORPGs. They are focused on a small amount of talents that serves them and their groups well.

In games that have them i enjoy playing a necromancer because they are evil and can summon undead stuff. Otherwise I enjoy playing a ranger or something that has a bow.
