How did this jump a full 10th of a percent overnight?

    It's been at 7.3 as long as I can remember, and so has AoC.



    Warhammer has been at the top for almost the entirety, sure every now and again AoC gets ahead stays there a little while but its never held on to it.



    So when this game reached 7.4 I either think MMORPG has removed some accounts that were created to troll WAR (Vanguard fan bois, WoW Fan Bois, AoC Fani Bois etc) or its just had a natural amount of players eventualy rate with high enough stats to get there by its own accord.



    It hasn't jumped a huge 10th of a perccent over night, its built up to it over the course of time.

    Maybe because people realize that you dont need DX10 to take full advantage of the graphics?

    why? cos it looks better... and tbh, AoC is more finished than WAR with AoC coming out in like 4 months and WAR in about 9months.

    SO! the people at EA Mythic have more time to work thier game (and looking at AoC it wont be out till the same time that WAR is aiming for)

    I look at AoC, then WAR, look at Videos, Interviews with Paul Barnett, dev diaries etc., and wonder how anyone could POSSIBLY Hype WAR lower than 10.

    AoC will surely be a revolution, but it could fail miserably as well.



    WAR will be a guaranteed success and lead the MMORPG RvR to a whole next level, but through evolution.

    While the AoC videos are great, Paul Barnett's WAR videos are insane...or at least he is.  Just seeing his enthusiasm makes me want to play the game.  If you haven't seen at least one of his blog videos, go check one out.



    Both games have equal 'hype' in my opinion.

    its a hype-meter who gives a crap, maybe several people are really hyped and rated it a 10. go worry about something else like those homeless people sleeping in your local park. some people will find anything to complain about

    The game is just that good for many who have been fans of warhammer since the time of the tabletop game in the 80's. A true gamer takes time to realize that not only has warhammer been around before all of the others were created, warhammer may have been there creative beta. As a person who has played tabletop to video-games based on the series and have only been truly happy with the tabletop game and 40k game on pc. But as a fan of the genre I can honestly say I am looking forward to it and to all those game bias out there your not real gamers, you only play one game, until you broaden your horizons you can't be taken seriously.

    I too wonder how WAR is so high in the hyped ratings. Methinks people mistook WAR for 'WOW' when voting for the game and voted 10 by mistake. Although....I don't blame them.  I think WAR is just a 95% WOW clone so far,only worse.

    But meh,I guess people think of WAR and think of DaoC and the Warhammer franchise,and expect good things. Whatever floats your MMORPG boat.

    The WAR videos wouldn't make it look like a 10 in the hype... maybe a 6. Reading about it makes it sound more promising but they could really use a good gameplay video. Right now AoC is looking better.

    Errr well, WARs closed Beta hasn't even started yet

    The current Videos are all without the Light Engine. It's just standard brightness currently.



    But Graphics mean nothing anyway, Vanguard failed miserably, UO is still very successful.

    All that counts is Gameplay, and while I agree in that AoC can become the most fun MMORPG ever created, it could also be so broken, unbalanced and bugged that it becomes a second Vanguard. That's why my Hype currently is VERY limited, I'll wait and see the first weeks of playing, or use a free trial or beta or whatever...won't pay anything before I haven't played it.

    With WAR, you can also see and feel how much fun the game will be, so I have no doubts it will be a great success.

    Please stop with the whole "WAR is just another WoW clone!" thing it's just getting old now.

    I disagree with the claim of WAR being a WoW clone, as they're completely different types of game, WAR being a RvR experience and WoW a mostly PvE game with PvP added after the start. Certainly more differences can be found, but the different game type, in my opinion, clearly  separates the games.



    On topic:

    I'd say that the hype rating has risen by having more people acquainted with WAR over time, perhaps due to some other dissatisfying titles. More information, leading to more interest, resulting in hype increase :D

    If that was the case WAR wouldn't even be on the top 7, much like WoW is missing from the top 7 of this site - if, in fact, people confused them

    The warcraft universe is a 99.999999999% warhammer clone. All the way down to the characters... illidans looks and story were "borrowed" from warhammer lore. WoW is pretty original as well, being that its a glorified, watered down, 7 year old player friendly EQ clone.



    With that out of the way, WAR is big because DAoC fans know whats coming shall be amazing. It is the most brutal fantasy franchise. The great creators of DAoC. I always say it, and now for those of you that just cant comprehend mmos pre WoW



    Most brutal fantasy franchise + creators of the best player vs player MMO = An amazing PvP based mmo in the most brutal fantasy universe

    Suitepee.. lol WoW ripped off Warhammer art that's been around for years and years.. ever play the table top game or read a gamming magazine.. you know real gaming before their was online gamming??



    and war gameplay is just RvR from DAOC on crack.. WoW ripped off everquest for raid format, the GUI is ripped off of what??? that's right asheron's call 2 (hense why people say LOTR ripped off WoW, except, wow ripped off the makers of LOTR (turbine) and asheron's call 2.. Which are both made with the turbine 2 engine...



    The mistake is easily understood, as WoW is most people's first mmo..



    Just thought i'd give a little history lession.



    P.S. and asheron's call 1 is still the best mmo ever created for my dollar.. i hope turbine brings back AC2 cause i didn't get to really try it..
