Okay, not to derail this topic, but, can you show me, via PM, when/where/how Sigil went "belly up". Perhaps a quarterly profits statement, or a bankruptcy announcement, or even a post where Brad McQuaid said they had to shut it down if they didn't sign. Maybe I missed one of those....as I recall, Brad was still talking about the game doing well when "negotiations" started between him and SOE. Unless you can PM me that, I'd say you're untruthfully spouting a party line.
Yeah, because it was so obvious that Sigil was such a strong company with such a bright future! LMAO!
And, for the other poster....I didn't say Sigil was in good shape....simply that they never went "belly up". SOE started negotiations while V:SOH were still working on surviving. SOE didn't prevent server shut down.

The took it over when it was at it's weakest.
What would you call what happened to Sigil then? Hmm, company releases an unfinished game saying that they ran out of money, and then 6 months later lays off all of their employees and sells the game? I backed Sigil up until they sold Vanguard, but there's no way that you can perceive that other than them "going belly-up."
Let's stay on topic rather than complain about Sony. If someone doesn't want to buy the game because they hate sony that's their choice as they worked for their own money and no one but them can make that decision. Is it a shallow one? Probably. Is it the right one? For them it is so let it be. I have faith FLS will do what they think is best for this game and I will be buying this game no matter who distributes this game.
This company has already proven to me that they care about this game and aren't in it just for the quick cash. (maybe they are but that isn't the impression I get) They answer our questions on other forums than their own. They are able to say "Look we could launch this now or we could tweak it a bit to make sure it is perfect for the gamer." and chose the latter because of YOU! The gamer is the reason they push back launch. If they didn't care what we thought we wouldn't have Avatar combat and we would be playing something probably fun but too much like EVE. They are trying to do this right please give them the chance to make a truly fresh game in a world of stagnant MMOs. For a game like this I would pay $100 and $30 a month.
I would ask that for those who don't know exactly what this game is trying to accomplish, if you would please visit the following link to gain a brief overview of the huge undertaking that is PoBS.
I disagree with you Ascendantrai this company does not care for its gamers or it would have given sooner notice for not launching 1 june just as i have listened to Rusty giving his reasons to guilds now for the last two years as to why game keeps getting delayed. Somethings not right about this game what that is i do not know but the reasons for delaying it are getting old as is not letting in more beta. Just an opion and until I see a server or retaile box im gonna go with a 2008 launch date. As for distrbution I could care less, 5yrs is enough time for the current generation of games.

The company doesn't even need to update us on anything if they don't want to. I think that we are getting too much info to begin with. I don't know of a company that is more open with an unreleased product. I don't care if they aren't telling the whole story cause they have there reasons. I will try this game whenever it comes out. No hurry.
Elsabolt it's ppl like you that make me sick. You get angry at a Dev for not releasing a game just because you want it to be released? That is selfish as hell. It isn't just about you if what they add in makes this game makes it better why are you complaining? I don't want to have to go through what I did with WoW and all their technical problems with Servers crashing and the just unpolished state of SWG at launch. I want to see this game at its best because I want it to do great no hear a someone whine like a kid who didn't get what they want at christmas. If the game is cancelled then please feel free to complain all you want, hell I'll join in with you, but as it stands this game IS going to come out. Also just so you know the don't HAVE to ever release this game.
I'm not sure what elsa is on but I have always been amazed at the high level of communication the FLS devs have had with the community. The 'delays' to the release of this game have always been accompanied by good news, as in, they are adding new features to the game that we didnt expect the game to have before... Which is just amazing, something that I've never seen from a game before, and I've followed a lot of games. MMOs especially tend to remove features from release as well as putting up delays... PotBS has had delays true, but instead of removing features they are adding them!
They are adding people to the beta as well. You dont hear about people being in the beta because there is still an NDA up that prevents them from telling anyone they are in the beta. If anything, you should consider the lack of people breaking the NDA as a good indication, because players are more likely to break the NDA if they are not scared of losing their beta account, and they are more likely to be not scared of losing their account if the game is not enjoyable.
I agree Worm. They do tend to break the 'bad news' with some really awesome development additions. Not to mention, the developers are openly telling how the game is to be played (which is essentially allowing their pre-player base to get a feel and opinion of the mechanics even before beta) at every possible turn. Of course, until the product is on a shelf (or DLable) it can become a WHOLE new game..
As far as the NDA's go.. anyone can speak of their involvement with beta testing.. just without any sort of prejudice or information. Meaning: If (and i'm not even though i wish i was) I were to be in beta testing I could tell people I'm a beta tester, just NOTHING at all about the game play or MY personal opinion of the game. This is an essential part to development because it doesn't attract the wrong crowd (by having dev's drop certain attributes of the game for extraneous reasons) and having opinion out on the market, and it doesn't hype up the game with amazing features that never make it to the final product. Of course.. their NDA can be drawn up to state anything they want.. As in, RULE #1 of PoTBS beta-testing, NO TELLING PEOPLE YOU"RE BETA TESTING! (lol).
However, in my humble opinion, I feel the very select few are too enamored with the game to come out and speak of it anyway! (As i'm sure I would be too)
In the past, I've been a tester for an MMO where it specifically stated in the NDA that you were not permitted to divulge the fact that you were a tester.

I'm pretty sure you arent allowed to tell people if you've been accepted into a beta test.
A non-disclosure agreement (NDA), also called a confidential disclosure agreement (CDA), confidentiality agreement or secrecy agreement, is a legalcontract between at least two parties which outlines confidential materials or knowledge the parties wish to share with one another for certain purposes, but wish to restrict from generalized use. In other words, it is a contract through which the parties agree not to disclose information covered by the agreement. In rare cases, the contract may state that the existence of the NDA itself cannot be disclosed.[citation needed] An NDA creates a confidential relationship between the parties to protect any type of trade secret. As such, an NDA can protect non-public business information.
Well Well Ascendantrai looks like your wish to get this game lanched in 2007 have been answered now that S.O.E. is involved. I hope your hate for me now lessens cause Mr. Rustys game here may just get gobbled up now.
