Also I dislike the little gloating display of the first poster, but it doesn't change that fact that although I do not post here much, since I have joined this site I have been here regularly (almost daily) and use it as a tool to glean information about MMO's frequently. I don't think that because I decline to post in most cases, I should be a lesser consideration than some of the people who do post useless crap in these forums.
Post count should be irrelevant, but possibly length of membership should be a factor. I would be in total agreement of that.
EXAXTLY, Post count is irrelavent, excepting if you have 0 posts then it just looks like you registered to win a contest. So make the contestants all be registered 1 month prior to the contest starting. Its simple.

I wouldnt be much of a guess to assume the posts are NOT rated by a human, In the way your thinking "rating for a star".
But hey im human so i could be wrong...I personaly would guess that the STAR rating comes from some software program that rates frequency of posts not quantity..or a combo of both

We dont pay for this service, they are depending on marketing revenues to keep it up. Limiting the contests to say 3 stars+ would make us all homeless.

The real problem is that SOE would only part with 10 beta accounts.
Having 10 people posting here "and other places" is NOT as good as 100+.

The point is that my staff would not be able to keep up with 10,000 bs posts... Again, I have already seen the "more posts helps you win" contest fail hardcore on another site and trash their boards...I don't care to do it here

I agree it is amazing that they could only part with 10 accounts for one of the largest fully mmorpg related sites on the net, and by far the best. Like they wanted to eat the cookie and still keep it, they only turn out cheap.
Also, if they had like a month minimum as a member to enter these contests and the contest runs for 3 weeks, the contest would bring very few new members to this site as well. I just dont see how the current contest rules can be changed to fit all purposes. IE rewarding the oldschool as well as attracting new people.
Very few will register on the basis, "Wooa thats a cool competition, I cant join this one but if I register now I can join the next". people are just to lazy for that.

First rama we been thru this issue before.After a lot of debate it been at least accepted by most of us regular posters that this way of competition is as fair as its gonna get without affecting new accounts influx into this site.
We regulars love the site and are happy to see it grow.If there was no competition then the site will lose a vast majority of its accounts.So while it would be nice to see long term/regular posters get a better chance it will only cause many new and less frequent posters to lose intrest in this site and cause a drop in traffic.
So i as a regular poster(and guess most of us) accpet this is as fair as it can get for competitions so gratz to the winners.
Ok now natas.Before you come here calling people no lifes and such first realise most of the regulra here only visit this site and love it.We keep this forums alive(even back when it had much less traffic) and this forums are probably the most important thing of the site apart from maybe what makes it unique the competitions.Yes probably even more then the news because from here a lot of news and information is extracted.
So please before you go round insulting the regulars here think.
As for no life.Well since some of you barely visit the forums before insulting us and hardly go to the chatroom (if ever) you don't know much about us.
I even visit the site when at work because of the "downtime" i have when waiting for samples.Many of us here are employed and educated.Not even going to mention my education level as those regulars/active users know already.I have a 4 bedroom house ,payments,car and all the usual junk i have to pay for.If we take time off our busy schedule to post here its a credit to our loyality to the site
