Sure they will draw people outta a lot of MMO's. WOW will take a hit at the beginning.... then WOW's next expansion hits and people who were WOW fans will come back to check out the new content/challenges.... for a bit a least . Then the new MMO's come out an.... well, lets just say its a viciouse cycle
WoW been out for quite some time now, many have left the game or starting to get bored with it from my impression. And wonder what you guys think, will many ppl leave when the other big mmo's come out?
Yea. A good %70-%80 of the people who play WoW only play it because they love mmorpgs but few if any good ones actually exists.
im having big hopes for WAR myself, seems very promising. But so did WoW also before you started playing and noticed that 50% of what blizzard promised was nowhere to be seen.
WoW will lose more customers to the X-Box 360 and PS3 net play services then it will to any MMO. Most WoW fans were not MMO fans to begin with and they will go back to not playing MMO’s when they are done with WoW. Some of the MMO veterans currently playing WoW will jump ship to WAR and AoC but these make up a small minority of WoW players.
what is WAR????????????? and i doubt many of the people who play WOW have ever played warcraft it is a very amzing tactical game try it out sometime and if yo8u haven't you just hopped on at WOW i don't think that should be allowed you should get somecode from beating warchraft 3 or somthing to play wow
I think a lot of people don't appreciate the magnitude of WoW. They have 8.5 million subscribers. Let's put that into perspective (All statistivs taken from http://www.mmogchart.com/ ): Lineage, by far the closest game, peaked out around 3.25 million. Lineage 2 go jut over 2 million. Next is RuneScape: Yes, a crappy game. But you know what? It's free and popular. And that, by July 2006, didn't even have a million subs. Yes, thosenumbers rae a year old. But judging by teh patterns, the only one of those that would have had any popularity increase is runescape. And do you really think that will take over WoW? Don't get me wrong. I completely agree that WoW gets boring after a while. Heck I got bored getting to 60, and then the expansion just bored me to death. And I've cancelled my subscription. But the point is: Even if a thousand of us here all got 100 different people each to quit, it would put less than a 1.2% dent in their subscribers. Most of their subscribers are overseas, and they look at their games differently than we do. The games will not ruin WoW. When they COULD do is put WoW at a spot where, for the first time, they are on a negative slope for subscribers. More people are leaving than joining. But even if that happened, Blizzard has a lot of trump cards to pull to get subs back. But they are a cause for Blizzard to worry: Some people indeed will leave, and WoW has generally always had a positive slope of subscribers. They don't want ot lose that record. WoW will die eventually, but it's not going ot happen with 1 or 2 game releases.

STOP POKING ME!! God I loved Warcraft 1-2, never really got into Warcraft 3 tho. And I do not know much about the lore, some discussions in guildchat about lores, the bosses we fight and so on is just way over my head.
same here but i went though it anyways just so i could finish the trilogy i especilly liked how they introduced the blood elves it made a grand new twist ot the allieance campain oh ya btw can anyone plz tell me what war is
WoW will lose between 10% and 70% of it player base upon the release of AoC and WAR in the month following the release of the second title.
It will prolly be around 20%, unless WAR manages to appeal to both, PvPers and PvEers, in which case it could be disaster for WoW. AoC is going to do a good job on the PvP players and WAR will finish it, what make me wonder is the PvE appeals. ATM, WAR is not going to appeal to PvEers seriously. They did a LOT, but they didn't give PvE a purpose...if they do, they may very well steal the blunt of WoW playerbase right away.
ATM, I wouldn't be too afraid to lose more then 20% subscribtions, but it mostly depend on Mythic and their ability to give a reason, a focus, a goal, a purpose, to PvE players...the WAR efforts mean nothing positive, nor negative, to PvE players...been subpar in WoW because of raiding or been subpar in WAR because of PvP isn't going to work...soo...do they plan more then what they advertise now?
PS: Some PvP players will stick to WoW unless WAR can also appeal their PvE friends...but PvP servers will be merged regardless (or become ghost towns). What I wonder about is, the ability for WAR to actually bring the PvE players...AoC can't...WAR could, if the devs stop thinking they can't. PvE players doesn't require that much to be drawn, but they do require a goal, an objective, a focus...and the WAR isn't giving them this focus.

I will say this I swore up and down that I would never try wow. But very bored with vanguard right now and waiting for aoc to come out so.... suprise I gave it a shot. I must say I find it fun lol. Playing a human warlock and got her to 12 on the Korialstrasz server. And of course there were the usally kids and smart ass's around but over all i'm finding a very helpful community. So I'm being very pleasantly suprised.
I made a troll shaman with bright pink hair lol name of hoodoo thought the name fit. And lots of help with quests as well on the hord side. So heh belive it or not I'm enjoying WoW and figure it will keep me entertained until aoc comes out. Oh my warlock's name is Autumnflame if you want to say hi.
WoW is jst a normal mmorpg and all good online games get boring even wow and i used to play guild wars and i'm thinking of giving up wow for it again like seriously i could never play a game for like 2 years it would get so boring i need new things to do in a game but that just me if you insist to play a game until you die or you run out of monthly cash that your problem
WoW been out for quite some time now, many have left the game or starting to get bored with it from my impression. And wonder what you guys think, will many ppl leave when the other big mmo's come out?
No, because most MMOs, past and present, are really bad compared to WoW.

I don't believe those who leave WoW will flock to other MMOGs either, most will just stop playing the genre, coming to the conclusion all the other ones are "wow clones" and "suck".
Have to see this seems xtremely likely right now. Over the past few months I've seen the number of active people in my friends list alone half as they leave for new games or through boredem, usually both. Myself I am definately going to leave for Age fo Conan, I have full Tier 5 I've done some of black temple and I've got all the blacksmithing recipes I could want, and the reputation too. There is really nothing left for me to do, even though there was tonnes at the start now its just not intresting, perhaps if blizzard had brought out propsed player housing this could have re-intrested some but with all the new features offered by the latest RPG's even with their empire Blizzard cannot keep up. Currently also I and some others are preparing to reform on Age of Conan as a guild and city, we already have 63 members after searching only a few days and there is surely more out there also considering it has been a good time there in WoW but all good things must end.
I began playing WoW a few months after it was released then (after ~1.5 years) I gave up on WoW. A month or two ago I used my friend's account to try out tBC and new stuff... but as much as I can say nothing has changed since then. It's still all about farming instances for some crappy epix to do what? to be satisfied ? only when you get your 1st or two epix, after that you get used to it. to pwn every1 on f*cking arena (world pvp (before BG's were implemented) was much more entertaining) ? nope, PvP in WoW is like a mini game in any other normal game, you dont feel like its part of WoW. PvP servers, PvE servers... is there any difference if you spend most of the time in instances and will get banned if you wipe other faction on outdoor bosses (mmm... sweet old 8-hour Kazzak wipes which led to server restart... ) So the only thing left are friends. IMHO its the only reason why so many ppl are still playing WoW, but eventually all of your friends get bored and stuff...
I dont like routine thats why I like PvP. And thats all you have when you get bored of that st00pid AI (you've learnt all its "moves"), and unlike AI, people improve as you do... thats why I want to play WAR so much. PvP, some PvE and WAAAGH. And IF you LIKE routine, then WoW isnt much better than La2...
p.s. lots of shit i've wrote here... but rly, i got bored of wow, and i have nothing else to do right now...
Why wouldnt they lose numbers? WoW is the older game. People want something fresh. I grew bored of WoW after 2 years and went to LOTR for the PvE. Enjoying it alot and the game can only grow larger. I am looking forward to Age of Conan for both PVE and PVP, but mainly PvE. I do not plan on playing WAR which I view as the cartoon, pvp, copy of WoW. I wish there was a sci fi game on the horizon that offered a great PvE game. I am sooo sick of the orc/elf lhemes.
While there are alot of good points made about WoW (And I still do play it, myself.) I am positive it will begin to lose alot of customers for the simple fact that the average MMO has a prime-time span of 4 years. WoW while being the most "Polished" MMO out...Is lacking a great deal in what the new games will have to offer...this is inevitable seeing as it is an older game, with older mechanics and older technology behind it. MMO's were not mainstream until WoW, and I believe the game did help pioneer the genre into where it is today. And while I am positive the numbers will decline, I'm sure it will remain higher than other games it's age, and on par, or even less than the new games..In particular "Age of Conan", and "Warhammer: Age of Reckening".
I think so. Don't get me wrong WoW is still a great game but you can only hook people for so long. Better graphics, new ideas, there's alot to be excited about imo. I don't think WoW will fall off the face of the earth but I think there's some good games coming out that will actually give Blizzard some competition. War and Conan both have large budgets and are catering to things blizzard lacks.
really wow get old too fast while i was waiting for wow to come out i played guild wars and i'm thinking of going back atleast they have expansions and a sexuel scedueled so i think thats the way to go
It is hard too say . Some players could leave WoW for it GRIND game , but other won't leave it till they die . Some players will come some will leave it . It is very hard too say because we dont know what special WAR , Age Of Conan and so on will have , will they be intresting for people and so on . We could say WoW will or won't lose many players to WAR , Age of Conan and so on , when they will be released about 5 months .
really wow get old too fast while i was waiting for wow to come out i played guild wars and i'm thinking of going back atleast they have expansions and a sexuel scedueled so i think thats the way to go
They have a "sexuel" scheduled, eh? Well, that's one reason to definitely check the game out.
What, um, does the, um, sexuel involve? Any... sexuy?

Blah, balh, balh... WoW will lose to this game, WoW will lose to that game. People WoW isn't going to lose to any game so get over it.
It's 8 million strong so put a cork in it already.
