I think its hilarious that us WAR fans lose our number one spot... make a thread how it doesn't matter and that the AoC zomgfanbois are just creating more accounts to knock us out. Then conveniently AoC drops the mark it gained and warhammer rises back over them. (in the period of hours)

Name one thing unique about it other than it's set in the world of Conan. Other than the unique fact it's the first "mmo" to need Vista/DX10 it's not unique. Positional targeting is already in FPS games and has been for years.
I liked the conan books but I have almost 0 interest in a MMO of said world. I am sure it will be a interesting game for some and Funcom does has some good idea but lets be honest, it's just like every other game.

AoC is promising a lot of things the MMO genre has never seen. The combat system being the biggest example, AoC does deserve larger hype. But again, that doesn't mean it will deliver and be a great game. Also, Vista and DX10 are not required--there is a DX9c version of the game.
1. MMorpg is generally filled with people that predate wow in gaming expieriance making this site slightly elitest.
2. Anyone recall Vangaurds Hype? I do...it was 7.2....for a while....and it BOMBED.
3.Hype meters are easily exploited, and they are also not voted on by everyone, I dont bother to even check them.
So really...who cares?
The number one thing to remember about MMOs is that they all die eventually, and you will move onto another one, its just a matter of how long? I thought EQ was going to be on my bill forever, and the PoK released and the game went to hell. So even if the game is awesome at release, its always a battle to remain consistent within its population and keep its ideals and mission the same.
I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, The dreams in which I'm dieing are the best I've ever had.

As I said the combat is nothing but FPS style in a MMO. It's not innovative.
And yeah you can run the game under XP but it's written for DX10. That's fine and dandy and the only real thing this mmo brings to the the market.
AO brought new things to the MMO market, instancing being one of them. Funcom got anything like that coming? If not it's just another fantasy MMO and requires a supped up system and connection because of the FPS style combat.

Reasons why Hype doesnt matter:
1. MMorpg is generally filled with people that predate wow in gaming expieriance making this site slightly elitest.

It makes me laugh how AoC fan's always ranting about how "mature" of a community they'll have.
