Yup I started a similar thread and the same thing happened to me there. Was trying to point out one thing that seems to be going in the right direction for Vanguard amidst all the negative and bam the slamming began. I found there to be a significant performance improvement for me with the 7/5 patch. Since the 6th I have been playing Vanguard and find it to be a playable game with ton's of potential. Game is a long way from where it should be but this performance improvemnet is a step in the right direction. I would say for me it has been a 10 to 15 fps increase and at times more.
Hmm, interesting. Might be worth me installing the patch to see how she runs now. Re-installing XP upped my FPS a lot, but it still seemed to chug when I was in a group. Maybe this has eased a little.
Because to many of us fanboys are annoying and do a disservice to other MMORPG gamers
If you continue to buy and support products of the appalling quality that Vanguard was at launch, companies will continue to push out unfinished games and there will probably always be enough people stupid enough to pay a monthly fee to beta test new products for them
One hour of "beta" testing was enough for most of us to know VG was 12 months away from release at the time not to mention the fact that the developers themselves announced this fact just before launch!
How many clues do you people need? There are quality MMORGs out there to play (including the world beater never mentioned on this site!) so go play.

Uhm ok, where are this support for vanguard.
Is it because of the many subs it has?
Is it because it sold out instantly, was a smash hit, on release?
So no there actually is not that much of a support that would make a developer see VG as an incentative to relase something as you incline it to be. If it was not for SOE buying the game Sigil would have failed with this tactic and probably the next small time dev house that would do the same.
So obviously in contradiction to what your saying, using your arguments, Vanguard is already a good excample to use as an example for not to release to early because it won't receive the support to make it, again looking at Sigil buyout.
Now SOE is picking up the trail and that is not a bad thing, supporting that and finding it good when they show things getting done is rather good.

Unless this is the first time you've ever been to an anonymous forum on the internet you would already know the answer to that question.
can you walk through Khal or NT without hitching, you know where the game goes all stuttery and you end up running into the walls or the ocean?

Haven't been there yet to see myself.
I can say that before this patch I couldn't run through Renton Keep. I had to stop and wait a bit for it to load everything. Add a few players PvPing or questing and you could be dead before you even saw it happen. It was pretty bad.
I can run through there now with no real problems. It hitches for a couple of seconds as it loads all the character models and geometry and then it good.
Some of the hitching in the wild is completely gone for me. Usually after crossing a chunk it would hit just a bit, no more then a couple of seconds, and then it would be fine. Seems that now when I cross a chunk I just get the second of lag from the crossing and no hitching emediatly after.
My PC also sits on the upper end were the performance increase is less noticable.

Here's the deal Fantom1.... This post isn't directed at you in particular, but rather to all the people in general who are posting things similar to your response.
I already bought Vanguard and it's gathering dust on my shelf, because I canceled it a couple months after purchase. Now that SOE is in charge, I hear that they're making improvements to the game. If this is true, I'm interested in hearing about it because it means I might not have wasted my $50 bucks. Now, I'd like to hear about how the game is today without having to hear all the crap from the people who seem to have nothing better to do with their lives than to come here and post the same childish nonsense over and over.
The people posting that they're only doing this to protect the other consumers out there need to give it a rest. It's really none of your business what companies and/or games that we decide to support. How many clues do you need to understand that?
I'm not trying to sound snarky in this response, but damn...it is getting old. The horse is dead and buried....
can you walk through Khal or NT without hitching, you know where the game goes all stuttery and you end up running into the walls or the ocean?
Towns still a little hitchy because they haven`t totally enhanced the NPC. Their plan is to have the NPC eats less ressources. But overall, there is less hitching.
In Vol Tuniel with a group of 5, i was running at 20+ in the dungeon... I increased my gfx since the last patch so 20+ in that dungeon is pretty good IMO.

Vanguard is much..much improved.
We don't need any more self appointed consumer watchdogs..tyvm
It's ignorant to post opinions about current events in a game that one doesn't play.
It's great to hear the latest patch has helped make a great game..even greater !!
I can't comment personaly on the patch as my gaming rig crashed last week so I am without my happy place till I can get it up and running again. Not being able to play ...forced to play Guild Wars to get my mmo fix......has made me really appreciate Vanguard and what that world has to offer! I can't wait to get back in the game !
can you walk through Khal or NT without hitching, you know where the game goes all stuttery and you end up running into the walls or the ocean?
For Khal its a Yes. We came in with a sloop and i just hopped off at the dock and left the city. A few little spikes, but not like walk two steps, wait, walk two steps, wait.... I went of the wrong side of the docks and had to run to the other side. Its easy and nice to play. I have been with 4 others in the dungeon near upper garrison and we hunted for zombie flesh. I couldnt team before patch. Now its fun with green fps.
I gained about 5 fps overall. Yup, so you can see that desktop that much faster!
My hitching is SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. I like how I get hitched to the desktop!
My CTD is unchanged, but it was rare anyway. Rare, but it happens!
Chunk times seem a little faster. You mean you get chunked to your desktop faster right?
Dream on. I had 0, zero, nada crashes since patch. I mean it. Zero.
Well, i am playing on a clean win2k with 2 year old drivers. Clean means i have a hd with an os and a hd with the game. There is a firefox, nothing else since this is my gaming rig
"OMG VG HAS IMPROVED!" Wow, no shit? Considering it was two ranks below a steaming turd how could it not? And just because its improved from what it was doesn't make it a AAA game, it doesn't even make it out of beta... lack of content or broken content ala dungeons/quests/crafting/diplomacy/everything from 35 up means that its still a kernel in SOE crapfest... You'd think they'd diversify those terrible "same body, different pez-head" character models at least before putting nothing but useless gedunk like flying mount...
DO you read anything the mods post on thses boards! Take your discontent with the game to one of the many other threads, this thread is to discuss the patch and how it has affected peoples gameplay!
With the patch and specifically setting the bUseEfficientTextures to True has stopped all my CTD and has reduced my memory usage by 20% (per my G15 Performance monitor). I have seen an increase of only 5 to 10 FPS but that was to be expected (I was already getting between 25-35 FPS). Users with 2 gigs of RAM will see less of an improvement than users with older systems that only have 1 gig of RAM. This was a very good first step and reading the milestone posts it will continue.
As for the detracting posts.. Even WoW was released in a Beta state if you think about it as have almost every other MMO out there. In the beginning you paid for constant server crashes, hour long log in queues and horribly balanced classes. After two years those issues (well most of those issues) do not exist any longer. Of all the MMOs I have played Horizons had one of the smoothest launches out there (unfortunately it went downhill from there).
Vanguard is a fun and playable game. This patch has greatly improved stability and for those without a high end rig, playability. For the neighsayers who played at launch I recommend giving it another try or wait until the newbie island demo comes out and I beleive you will see some major improvements. If not then go play a game you do like or wait for the next one to come out and not meet your expectations.
In the 2 days ive played so far,ive had 1 CTD and a few issues of content loading, but thats it. Not seen any major cities so far,so Im not sure how the performance will be there.
Only other stuff is a few glitches with my crafting armor and hair style, some NPCs facing the wrong way when you talk to them and an NPC floating in mid air.Sometimes an enemy will fight me backwards and ill not be able to hit it.
nothing too gamebreaking yet,I have another month free to go so time will tell.

Just curious, but how much smoother? Is the "chunking" still there when you cross an invisible line?

I crossed a chunk yesterday and almost crapped myself. It hitched for less then a second, if I had blinked I would have missed it.
Then I crossed another and it took about a second. It improved a lot for me, but it's still there. Just considerably less annoying now.
Wish Darkfall would release.

I am so good, I backstabbed your face!
Please stay on topic about Vanguard's patch. There are dozens of other topics to show your discontent with the game in.
Ok I have only been playing for the last few days.. but I have not had any major issues with this game..
Sure it lags a tiny bit when entering cities and sometiems new areas.. but no worse than other games I have played..
The game still has a long way to go but it is enjoyable
Its a shame this game was released so soon.. i think we all agree on that.

Once I made the change to the file on the client.ini I stopped having hitching to a point I would say it is 98% improved. This is just great.
Note: havn't seen so many deleted post in the thread in forever on any forums I have been too.
A MMO is like life. It is something to cherish and enjoy upon in it journey. So why race to the end of it. In life at the end you die.
