That's actually one of the best representations of Conan I've seen, while allowing for the fact that he had to look a bit like a bodybuilder to please the 'Ahnold' fans.
Guys. Read Howard's source material. Those awful, awful movies are NOT Conan. In fact, the villain is taken straight from a completely different story, and one that was butchered just as badly when taken to the big screen.
Yes, the villain from Conan the Barbarian was actually from Howard's stories of Kull, King of Atlantis... who you movie people probably know as Kevin Sorbo (nice guy, but BAD casting) from Kull the Conqueror.

It's interesting what image someone conjures up when thinking about Conan, isn't it?
Me, I first got to know Conan via the Marvel comics in the late 70s... As a preteen / early teen I absolutely loved them (there goes the M for mature, heh). And even though I got to reading Robert E. Howard's stories later, and of course watching the dreadful Hollywood movies, even to this day when someone talks about Conan, the images that flash into my mind are those from the comics.
In contrast, my younger brother who was more of an 80s kid would immediately think of Arnold when you speak of Conan...
And then there are those who read the Howard stories first, and it's probable they all have their own, original image of Conan in their mind...
The Conan in the cinematics seems about right to me. Not exactly John Buscema but feels true. Yet I have to agree the teaser itself is not exactly intriguing...
But still, what we're doing here is more like discussing a short film, of course - all of this will have nothing to do with the game itself

Sorry to disappoint you on your brilliant retort; no primal fury here. All in good fun.
Still, you have no idea how happy it makes me to hear that you were being sarcastic. I did take you seriously, however, I'm not nearly rabid enough to be primally furious about anything, really. It's just sad that so many peoples' image of such a brilliantly written character is that of the 80's films; Howard deserved better than that.
Perhaps I helped some other poor soul who knows nothing more of Conan than Arnold's films to say "Hey... what's this guy talking about? I better go find out!"
One can only hope.

I love that vid also. I own the game and unfortunatly, it's the only cinematic. The cut scenes use the game graphics which are not as dramatic. The game itself is only okay. Something to pass the time.
your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't
A lot of these cinematic trailers are nice to watch and I enjoy them. A lot of them, however, don't really give me much of a feel for the game itself. Like this one. Fun to watch but it really didn't tell me much. Luckily, most companies today also put out trailers that include a look at features and game play. Those are the sort that may help with the decision making.
I am playing this game because the WoW teens will not be able to buy it.

I recently made a post talking about how WoW is the Anti-Christ of MMORPGS because it allows children and bots to play, and it just is crushing on a mature and healthful community.
I never want to play a game with the WoW community again. Ever. It is now ruled by botters and Asians and teens that leeeeet speak or whatever they do. Perhaps AoC will be the fun and mature fantasy MMORPG so many of us want!

I thought it was okay. I'm not a WoW fan, but man... they have the best gaming trailer I've seen.
As long as this game doesn't have orcs, elves or shit of the sort... It'll be great!
