WoW is designed for a different sort of player I have never become used to. I still do not like this type of player. My background? I played WoW on the first day of its release. I formed a guild with several years-long friends of mine from EQ 1. Our guild ultimately collapsed in a short amount of time. I was an Officer. I then formed a guild on my own, with EQ 1 friends and some people on our server. It would become the second most powerful and effective raiding guild on our server. I would abdicate in 7 months or so to study abroad, but I remained an Officer. Upon return to the states, I decided to resign my Officership, quit WoW, and sold my account. I played EQ 1 again and then Vanguard. I quit Vanguard, due to performance issues, and returned to WoW. Edit: I got my old account that I sold back. The WoW community had become even worse. The drama of the me, me, me WoW player was widespread and not limited to guilds but throughout the entire chat channel.
It is for an immature player: the challenge of the game. Its graphics. Its humor. ALL of it makes it obvious = it was made for kiddies. And now the "uber" kiddies rule the game!
It is for a sort of zerger type of "ownage" or "uber" wannabe. You know these types? The people that join huge zerg guilds and get raid items and call themselves "uber."
Think about Leeroy Jenkins. In EQ 1, if some one did that, we would not laugh. We would ridicule. Instead, something as stupid as that is the best of the best of their humor. NOT my type of people or game!
There are no Quests; they are all tasks. The questing system is not elaborate. It is not a journey. Children are literally able to do them and bots.
I have seen the evidence on youtube. The game is soooooooo easy and mindless BOTS can play it! You do not even have to play the game; it is literally that simple. You can create programs to play for you! LMFAO.
It is an Asian game. I am not sure of the exact numbers, but when I returned hardly anyone could speak English on my server. It is really sad. Hehe.
The class system is basic and unbalanced. Way out of balance.
The community. It is not a community. You cannot communicate with the Asians. You cannot communicate with the bots. And you do not want to communicate with the "leet" and "uber" and "pwnage" teens. Any fairly well-educated adult is appalled with WoW.
Leveling up is so easy you have 11 year olds bossing people around.
Raiding is zerging. No strategy, although they try to make it look like there is strategy. LOL
These and other elements has convinced me that the Asian masses and their bots have ruined MMORPG gaming. Let's hope that with AoC the WoW people will stick with WoW and join WAR. I will not, I cannot, and I will never -ever- pay a 1.00 a month or more to play with the WoW community. It is immature. It is hostile. It is bitter. And they all think they are "uber." LOL.

This thread is going places.
Yeah ,maybe you should have chosen the RIGHT client not the Korean Client lol
I was on the right client. We both know that. Asians, Koreans, Thais, Chinese are everywhere.
The NY Times even exposed the Chinese gold farmers that run WoW:

Welcome to the Land of Hasty Generalizations.

I never care trying to explain what is wrong in WoW.
The devs are deaf and listening to the "know-it-all" Furor. They have an awesome starts...but they turn wrong...
See, WoW is kinda like the Titanic of MMOs. Trying to put sense into these devs is pointless. Don't even bother. They have the right ideas, and they discard them progressively for the wrong ones. I blame Furor. What more is there to say?

So yet again we have someone who doesn't like something and so simply resorts to being insulting because they have nothing else to say ..... EVERY game has its good and bad players, it just depends who you associate with whilest playing. I don't like WOW but I would never stoop so low as to start throwing insults .... I merely spend my time elsewhere.

All videos show bots grinding mobs using Glider bot, I can post vidoes of bots doing the same in EQ1/2, Vanguard, OU, DAoC etc these bots do not run around accept quests complete them get reward, go farm mats for professions then go do some PvP then go buy some stuff on aH.. i.e they dont paly the game they run around a a bunch of waypoints killing mobs.
No they are not EVERYWHERE...you just had a bad experience and possibly bad luck gettin gin the right 'community/server'.
I've been playing WoW from closed beta. Took a short break after TBC was released.
Maybe you are just too serious about the whole thing in the first place. It's obvious from your initial post that you where very into it. Now that here are more uber guilds and players you have more competition and can't handle it.
As far as the Gold farmers and bots and juveniles go, well yeah they are there but I don't 'give' them anything. It would appear you allow them to get over on you and that just fuels YOUR frustration and makes them stronger. I ignore them and move on. Being the casual player that I am is probably the difference.
I think you made a good choice for YOU, but that doesn't have to be the absolute for everyone beyond the TEEN menace group.
Best regard finding something that will replace your desire without the frustration you describe in this thread.
I ignore them as well. But I am afraid that these WoW people are joining other games, because they are like all level 70 and have to faction-grind the same instances over and over and over and over again in World of Warcraft.
I created this because I noticed, with the significant jumps in new players on EQ 2, many of these people have very arrogant and nasty attitudes. It is ruining the community.
DEAL: WoW players stick to WoW until WAR is released. We will not play your game. You do not play ours. If you insist on joining our games, then behave yourselves in EQ 2, Vanguard, AoC, etc.

Just for laughs I made this post yesterday on the WoW is now $9.99 thread XD!!!
Dunno why but the price $9.99 (to bad i cant turn those faces upside down)makes me paranoid and delusional. XD!!
I'm no fan of the game, and I tend to hate its community on the whole, but the antichrist? hardly

Well, it sounds like you actually like WoW as a game overall or you wouldn't come off as passionate as you do in your post. I'm in total agreement with the belief that community plays a large roll in how much I enjoy a game. I think people who played early MMO's like EQ1, UO and AC (where you had to have social skills and manners to succeed) will share a similar viewpoint.
I like WoW as a game, but I share the same dislikes with the community. But I think it will improve as new games come out. Much of the WoW community will disperse to try the new offerings, the teens that stay will eventually grow up, and the community will hopefully evolve into something better as the game ages a bit. I remember EQ1, back when I used to play in 2000, had it's share of asshats as well.
On the flip-side, perhaps you're right. WoW is a little more cartoony and action oriented and solo skewed then it's earlier MMO influences. Maybe it really is designed for a younger hyped-up audience. Maybe it will always draw a certain type of player base.
I finally unsubscribed from WoW back in Feb after playing since beta. After over 2 years trying to find a section of community that was just a little more mature, and not being able to successfully locate it, I finally gave up. I found the forums useless and even downright nasty. The solo game lost its appeal and I had enough. I would probably resubscribe though if I knew where to find what I am looking for.
WoW is not the anti-christ of MMO's. With a whole different community it'd be a whole different game.
"Everyone should play the game like I play!"

1. This thread is a troll
2. The graphics match that of all the warcraft games
3. Raid items are good only for raiding
4. Leeroy Jenkins had people advertise the movie to make it popular
5. Nobody cares about quests, unless you are a roleplayer
6. You can bot in any game,
7. Do you have something against asia?
8. The classes are what they are, it is impossible to fully balance anything
9. Once again what do you have against asians?
10. Leveling is supposed to be easy, The game is gear based not level based
11. No. I've been in good raids and I've been in bad raids, knowing boss fights is the key to defeating certain bosses, the class combinations you use, what talent/gear you choose, your method of fighting is all part of raiding.
You can say what you want, but WoW is the clear #1 MMORPG by popularity. You can downrate it's score here all you want, but go on the game's website and tell me it isn't top quality/first rate.
I left WoW b/c of the community. I think the game is great (Rogues are very nice)..but I could not tolerate the community..
Sorry, my 2 cents
Roortagh
I have absolutely nothing against asians. One of my best friends is a South Korean.
I am just pointing out in addition to the loot speak of "uberness" from American teens you will also have communication problems as many of the Chinese, Thais, and Koreans that play do not speak English. You also cannot talk with bots.
You will also run into bots. TONS of them. Bots. Bots. Bots!

I don't know who you are talking to, but if you are playing WoW and dont do some research about the server you are on, you aren't going to have a pleasent experience. Check server population and don't go with recommended or low population servers. I would try only for high populations. Right now the best servers as far as pve progression goes are Korgath, Mal'Ganis, and Cho'gall. If your focus is pvp, check arena ratings. Arena ratings 1800 and up is what I would consider good. Don't listen to people who say they are good at pvp and have arena teams under 1600 rating. Do some research about WoW before playing it because I can tell you right now there is some complete trash that plays WoW. The good thing is you can now weed out the trash by checking armories.
