I really enjoy EQ 2. I like how I can solo. I have not been prevented from soloing yet, although I have not done a Heroic Quest yet.
EQ 2 growth, I am not an SOE employee or privy to real numbers, must be significant. Since I started playing, the community has really grown, at least on Antonin Bayle, in a very strong way. Nevertheless, the community atmosphere, the discussion in the level 1-9 channel is getting really immature. In fact, people sound very ... well, arrogant and stupid simultaneously. It is simply starting to sound like WoW.
Are any veteran EQ 2 players noticing this? Do any have a thought on this?

i thought bayle was the RP server, really must be going to crap or just idiots on there trying to get the RP'ers all riled up!
I had the exact opposite happen to me - WoW chat was never that bad yet in EQ II I found more of the players immature. The supposed "older and mature crowd" that forums bragged about in EQ II was no where to be found in my experience, and after a few months I uninstalled EQ II.
Glad I left that game for greener pastures..........
< shrug >
I haven't found that on Permafrost, still a very mature and helpful bunch there.
I might start a character on there. A community has such a ... impact on one's enjoyment of a game.

There's a chat channel?
"Granted thinking for yourself could be considered a timesink of shorter or longer duration depending on how smart..or how dumb you are."
Unrest has a great community on it though.
leave 1-9 and 10-19, think of it like this. EVERYONE can chat in these channels, so instead of having to listen to just the people in the area, you have to listen to the same 10-20 idiots, blasting over chat.
Get a nice guild, team with people, make some friends, you will be fine without the spam chans, If your playing on antonia bayle i have my characters there

I tried EQ2 after 2 years in WoW. Leveled paladin to 30+ level and found that I didnt get any fun. Quit EQ2 and returned to WoW (then quit WoW and went to EVE which is a blast)
Yes because every 1 who plays EQ2 are mature? get over yourself, just because people play WoW does not make them immature, why do some people think they are better than others because of a game they play? Nothing against EQ2 as a game but if this is the kind of person who plays EQ2 then please stay there.
Communities in all games are greatly exaggerated, 1 bad experience negates 10 good experiences. For example you join 10 groups in wow and have a good time, join 1 and have a bad time and those previous 10 good times just disappear. And all you remember is that bad time.
Just like your broadband, it works great for 5 months then for 1 week you get connection problems and all of a sudden you consider your ISP as the worst on the planet.
LMAO. EQ2 tends to get a big influx of players on each new expansion release, some stay, many leave. But to say EQ2 is getting alot of WoW players, can you honestly say how many players have not played WoW at all? I think near enough everyone has at some point bought and played this game.
Yes EQ2 i think has come leaps and bounds from its initial release (and a very bad update #19), last time i was in i had some fun in the game, i am thinking of purchasing the new expansion, however i do not want to pay half the original price, why, well i will be losing the free month that comes with the purchase so to cover that i want to get it at half price (knowing that i would also have to pay another £9.50 ($19-$20) to enable my account.
This is why i hate expansion packs/full game packs. New players get the free month, existing players don't, even though they still get charged the same (as i always think that the initial month is in the retail price as well anyways).
Well, let's hope the WoW players joining EQ 2 return to WoW soon! After the free month.
They are really bad, and very nasty. I will not provide an example, because what they say to people when new players ask questions is very immature and disrespectful. When I played WoW after I quit Vanguard, I was able to confirm: WoW! The community is this bad, I thought. I was always skeptical when people talked about the WoW community. But it was horrid, and it was constantly horrid.
I just do not want the WoW community joining EQ 2. Let them stay in WoW and join WAR when it is released.

Ever thought its the EQ2 players that have the attitude? after all you get this so called "abuse" while playing EQ2 thus this is coming from some 1 playing EQ2 thus you are being abused by EQ2 players not WoW players. Unless you .wishiper all who send this random abuse to you and ask them to complete a quick survey.
Sounds like your just a very boring fella will no sense of humor and no comprehension of sarcasm, and the tinniest thing people say in jest you take as a personal insult... Mod Edit
And I dont believe for one second you even played WoW.
WoW. (Notice it is WoW and not WOW! LOL) First, you call me a "boring fella" with "no sense of humor." Then, you get further, "no comprehension of sarcasm." Goodness.
Then I am told to "take the pole out of" my "ass" to "ease up."
Then he says, "I dont believe for one second you even played WoW." TRUST ME. I KNOW YOU ARE A WoW PLAYER!!
I know them when I see them. PLEASE do not do, like you did in your post above, inside of our EQ 2 game. PLEASE leave us alone and just play WoW until WAR is released. I promise I will not play WoW --ever-- again. LEAVE US BE!

EQ2 PLAYERS! you are doing the EQ2 community no favors.
I have no problem people commenting on WoW in a negative way if they have played the game and formed their own opinions.

Want me to go and make up a post about me being GM of EQ2 or maybe a developer of EvE?
i've spend 1 year in eq2 and 2 years playing wow and theres no difference in the people who play. the low levels in every game always has a few idiots running around nothing new. are there more idiots in wow? of course there are theres 8.5 million player compared to eq2 100k or 200k players so of course you get a few more undesirables in wow than you would eq2 but you also get a helluva lot more mature people as well.
ah if i'd seen that link before i posted i wouldn't have even bothered. its clear its just another hater and for someone who complains about immaturity you sure reek of it. grow up and get over yourself. you ruined any chance of looking legit after you linked your old thread there buddy
"WOW" people are not a virus, and not everyone follows a stereotype. I met and played with many fine PUG's, guilds and mature folks in my time there, and while there were some clowns of course, for the most part the players were great and i got along fine with them.
Perhaps the OP could turn the sensitivity nob down a bit, maybe ignore open chat (which I frequently do) and be grateful that you are seeing lots more paying customers to level up with.... it has to be good for the game, regardless whether a few bad apples come along.

I really appreciate WoW. It rejuvenated my love of computer games and some of the early moments were classics Ill remember a long time.
I also appreciate it as it will expand this genre. I hope a boatload of people come to EQ2 from WoW. The games are not the same. I prefer EQ2 right now, and Id like to know its business model is strong enough (by keeping a subscription base large enough) to keep growing.
EQ2 is awesome and has something for everyone. Come visit.
I think people associate immaturity with WoW is because of the sheer amount of players there. You notice certain types of people when theres more of them. EQ2 has immature little toe rags like any game, but because theres fewer of them we dont really notice where as with WoW theres more of them so its noticable.
I would ironically say the most mature community is the free and private EQ 1 server that is semi-Classic. One of the reasons, I think, is you have a lot of "older" EQ 1 vets and active GMs. If you get out of line on the server, if you are a troll in OOC, you get permanently banned. One of the biggest (some say THE largest) financial contributors to the server received a permanent ban for an immature outburst because he tried to camp some one's mob or something like that. I guess he trolled the OOC server and then received a permanent ban. He is pleading to get back. Immaturity and things like that are just not tolerated.
The Antonin Bayle server has been outstanding. One of the reasons I did not bother to play today is because I am just not in the mood for the level 1 to 9 chat. I could leave it, but I sometimes need it for information, raising questions, etc.

I have to tell you, I am a little shocked by how empty some servers are and how well populated Antonia Bayle is.
I tested a few servers, including Permafrost, and they have less than a fourth of the population in the starting area as Antonia Bayle.
I appreciate the suggestions, but I will stick with Antonia Bayle. I am happy here. We are getting a large influx of new players, many of whom are from WoW, and you know my opinion on WoW "uber" players. LOL.
Edit: LOL. It is "Antonia Bayle" not "Antonin" Bayle.
