Autotarget is for carebears? LoL, then MMORPGs in all are for carebears; scifi MMOs dont have to be more FPS style than others. You are mistaken yourself with that, lad.
I don't think any are great. It's more like pick the best of the worst. Potbs-low realism naval sim is too basic AoC-no hands on reviews of its main content, steep learning curve, high system requirements Tcos-pve only? tabula rasa-looks like with new deal with sony this is gonna be geared for ps3,auto-target,auto aim in a fps type game.no pvp. Gods and heros-solid engine, seems to be doing a somewhat modular release(otw) for NvN combat and some other features, moderate system requirements.
You might want to research a little on each game before you spew out stuff you have no idea what your talking about.
1) Tabula Rasa is going to have PVP
2) Every MMO has auto-targeting, it all depends on the die rolls you get, their not all a FPS. In the case of TR, they have said many times that the game is NOT a FPS.
3) I haven't heard of any PS3 deal with TR and I follow all info on the game and haven't seen any thing on a PS3 port deal. Which if there was what would it matter, its a PC game too.
Any way, back to OP, Tabula Rasa is going to be my pick for this year and next year I'll be trying out Stagate Worlds.
sony just made a deal with ncsoft to get more games on the ps3.
TR pvp was an add on after thought and spotty at best. There claiming more otw.
Auto targeting in a sci-fi game is retarded imo. You dont have to spot enemies you just spam next enemy button.
most upcoming sci-fi,post apocalyptic,or modern mmos have evoled to at least faction vs faction real time spotting, aiming, firing. Auto-Targeting in those genres is just a care-bare stroller at this point in time.
so... you calling SWG, KOTOR, KOTOR 2, FALLOUT retarded?
Well, they all had auto targeting.
You can't say what the pvp in tabula rasa is.... to me it sounds they from the start had planned to have it right where it is. Don't forget UO had plenty of pvp and it was made by Lord British (now General British).
and why do you care if it comes to ps3 or not? AoC is coming to xbox 360 but I do not see you crying for that?
lol, fallout was from the 90's and single player,so were two of the other titles, and swg was like when 04'.I'm talking present day.Personally I thought SWG was lame, but at that time it wasn't for auto targeting. It was 1 toon per server, floating camps, the patch of the day, maxing a toon in 30 days. ect. The problem when they start porting a game from the ps3 or to a ps3, is computers advance over the cycle of a game .so graphics can be improved.Consoles are fixed so expansions don't improve, just add.The best example is the expansion for oblivion that was console and pc.
I am not sure if any of those will actually make it to release in 2007. Age of Conan has gone through, according to one interview, somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 total revamps which is why we are hearing about it so much currently. Spellweaving is still pretty much unknown and how pvp will work, border kingdoms, guild keeps etc... with all of the balancing and whatnot that is still needed I wouldn't be surprised if it slipped to q1 2008.
Pirates of the Burning Sea is looking like it is coming along nicely. Apparently another wave of beta invites are getting ready to go out which probably means they are ramping up considerably. Whether it makes it out in 2007... i dunno. Flying Labs has delayed the game before because it wasn't just right, and if SOE really is only handling putting out boxes and marketing with FLS handling all servers, support, and development then it won't be on SOE's timetable. If they keep to their own timetable then it will be ready when it's ready.
Gods And Heroes, meh I dunno... things do not really look all that intriguing at the moment but anything can happen. Again I think a lot of the success or failure of GNH will depend on SOE's involvement. SOE is probably being pressured by the folks at Sony Pictures to start showing profitability and long term stability this pressure can have a detrimental effect on the games. Already SOE is realizing that they have a problem where software development is concerned hence their inking the deal with NCSoft.
ToS? or is this TCoS? Not being snarky, just haven't heard of a game going by ToS yet. If it's TCoS there are some parts that seem halfway intriguing but I personally am not looking to play another EQ2, WoW or any derivative of the old model. The mmo-rpg just isn't cutting it for me because they aren't rpgs, they are mmogs with some of the trappings of the rpg genre without the fun.
Tabula Rasa. Well, this one seems to be the largest disappointment of the bunch at least to me. I am a long time fan of Starr Long and Richard Garriott, however TR just seems like a huge departure. It's like if Wes Craven started making romantic comedies. Sure, they are artists and as such need to explore and grow, but I know what I enjoy... if I want a Romantic Comedy i'll go with someone like Reiner. If I want suspense, thriller, horror then I'll turn to Craven. TR seems like a game that would best be suited to one of the item mall type games but that's just my opinion, and opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one

If SoE hooked up with pirates then that is defiantly off my list.

If someone has problems with how some company handles You self as customer. Soon or later You find some other company what does better job. It's not narrow minded, it's been smart. No point to suffer by company what does bad job. You may think SOE does good job for You and many other people, but not for all people. Haven't You ever choosen some other company, because You got bad service from some company?
What is it with people, why can't they understand that not all companies does good job with all they customers. Why You think people starts hating some companies, just for fun of it? SOE has bad reputation, but example I have had personal bad experience with them.
PS: None of the comming games intrest me much anymore, they are too much same what we allready have. Pirates looks different, but SOE and PvP does drop it off from me too.
Age of Conan - Ive been bunnyhopping from MMO to MMO for quite sometime. Like most others, my first MMO that sucked me in (FFXI) sucked me in and ive never been able to get the "high" again. Ive actually considered quitting MMO's altogether lately, so maybe if its not up to snuff i'll drop this filthy habit.
Conan however, for once does seem quite different. The three parts that personally have hooked my interest, Mature rating and content, different style of combat fused with their idea of pvp, and finally the whole "Conan" universe which is a brutal more "matured" tone of course. I still love fantasy universes, but I don't find its very immersive when it has a cartoon feel to it.
GnH: Looks to be shaping up nicely, good combat, minion system is looking good, Rome, fun gameplay instead of a race to endgame, tons of potential with expansions, pvp and crafting can't fail if players tell the devs what they want.
what i would like to know is - how integral/important to the game can these big chunks of the game be if they aren't there at launch?
specially crafting - if it is something that will, at some point, maybe, be added later what is the point?
this was the only game this year i was truly interested in until i dug a little too deep and found out it was gonna be a chock-a-block release - haven't we had too much of this already
i'm not sure there is anything else i want to even try during any open beta - maybe EQ2 can do me for another year
If SoE hooked up with pirates then that is defiantly off my list.

Yup. What many don't seem to realize is that SOE has nothing to do with it other than marketing and billing... which is a very good thing. Development and service still stays in the hands of Flying Labs. People hear "Sony" and they are immediately turned off because they think "Vanguard" and "SWG".

Sony didn't have anything to do with Vanguard and it's flop. They just threw the head of Sigil ( Brad.M ) a life raft when he jumped ship off the HMS Vanguard.

Put one of my problem with SOE is the billing system.
How so? All the times of playing SWG, Planetside, and MxO... I never once had a billing issue. It was straight forward, easy to use, and efficient. Money is what Sony does best, remember. This move by Flying Labs with Pirates is only a good thing. It means more people will play, because more will hear about it... and it will get the launch it deserves.

I had problems with canceling EQ2 account subscribe, because they changed account system.I had closed that subscribe ones before without problems, but second time the system was changed. Example if You don't remember You secret question answer after few years, You only choise is make real phone call to US to cancel subscribe. Do You think that's needed to open subscribe? Nope Also I don't talk english, so do You think SOE's customer services did undestand my natural language. Nope
If i'm a lad to you I can see why you need auto targeting, lol.
I dont need autotargeting, this is only a wrong assumption in the world of MMO's, as in every form and shape MMO's do have an autotargeting or a lock-target system. Exception is WWIIO. So you know what to play if you want to avoid autotargeting and so on. C'mon!

You think Flying Labs would do any better on their own? If you do - you're wrong. It sounds like you simply had one bad experience that caused you to make a phone call, which is unfortunate due to the language barrier, but it happens. I'm not saying Sony is the greatest company in the world, but I would rather have them helming PotBS's marketing, billing, and such... as opposed to NCSoft or EA.

It is a question of fangs.
Age of Conan.
So the only non-carebear game is WWII... Wait a second... That game doesn't have any death consequences... So what is a non carebear game?
I'm personally looking forward to Pirates of the Burning Sea. That and Tabula Rasa.
I am waiting for Fallen Earth at the moment. I couldn't care less about any other game that is scheduled for release this year.
Well, my waiting list is in my sig, but if is limited to this year...
PoTBS
AoC
and whichever the f2p MMO that I'm waiting for is out (both in US or in Taiwan...)
Current MMO: FFXIV:ARR
Past MMO: Way too many (P2P and F2P)
Unreal Tournament 3
Age of Conan
Well i am watching 3 games right now so ill list them most anticapated first.

Example if You don't remember You secret question answer after few years, You only choise is make real phone call to US to cancel subscribe. Do You think that's needed to open subscribe? Nope Also I don't talk english, so do You think SOE's customer services did undestand my natural language. Nope
