So is Asheron's Call 2 a good MMORPG?

I still play SWG and AC2, so I am in no way bashing either game. I just enjoy playing AC2 more so than SWG. SWG is a great game even with its flaws, although the same can be said about AC2. The only reason I still play SWG is because it's got a great crafting system, and PVP is pretty enjoyable. I dont very much care for the cities in SWG being filled to the brim with NPCs. AC2 has a reason for there being few NPCs in cities, I still say there should be at least some kind of merchant, shop, or auction house of some kind. Say in Cragstone or another big city, but hey its still a great game to play. There's no reason to bash one game or the other, unless you're out to get revenge on a game because it wronged you.

At this point, I'd say AC2 has more longevity in it that SWG. It's more robust in many ways and still has better graphics.

djin dont be assless.....you are clearly one sided in your opinion....and not opening your mind too see the other persons opinion, even if u disagree is being ignorant... so lets please know the definitions of words before using them...and if u dont like the game dont play....i wouldnt say it is better than swg myself but it sure is close....a beter map system...mabey a wp system...a good crafting station and it would rock...and mabey 2 more playable races.....it would take me 2 more pages to list swg's flaws, but the main draw is star wars....star wars theme makes it fun....sony is assless just like you ... i think you work for them djin.......dont be sad because ur going to be jobless in 4 months..

I've played a lot of games and I just don't see how AC2 is any fun... And yes, SWG is good. Look at what it offers... it's the same as everything else, but it has a good crafting system, lots of things to do... I might be blinded since I just started to play it, but I know something's decent when I see one.

As for your little punk ass Dark78, I know I am heartless... doesn't bother me one bit. And I have a great job... I work with animals, so there's nothing wrong with that.

Two more pages for SWG flaws, I could write a bible on the flaws of AC2... my biggest problem is this with the game... Where's all the FUC*ing people?! No NPCs in town?! No shops.... NEAT!!

Game sucks... that's NOT my opinion... just read what OTHER people say about it. If you want to compare AC2 to a game, compare it to SB, both suck, both have zero content. At least SWG there's people, shops and things to go, see, do, kill, etc etc...

That's why I have a nice place to live at, nice car... I go OUT, have friends that are REAL and don't end in .JPG. I love animals... why, they don't talk shit... I don't work with pigs, I work with dogs, cats and other types, but no farm animals.

Haha, wow, this thread is amazing. I dont know why you hate ac2 so much Djin, maybe the developers kicked your puppy, but I think it's kinda funny how you can say that ac2 sucking is a fact, when it can't be anything but opinion outside your point of view. But honestly, anything you've said so far can't be taken seriously because of the way you said it. After reading your responces I can only draw the conclusion that your sudden bursts of outrage are due to someone insulting your precious SWG. I mean, why would anyone care if someone does or does not like a certain game? I personally think ac2 is a great game. I also tried SWG and didn't like it all that much. It seemed a little shallow to me. Does that mean that ac2 is the best out there? No. Does it mean that SWG sucks? No. Differences in opinions are going to always be around. It just isn't right to tell someone that they are wrong and stupid because they do not agree with what you think.

Also, though your arguements for SWG may be true (I can't argue one way or the other cause I only played it for a month), your arguments against ac2 aren't all that accurate. I'd have to say the only thing you were correct about was that there aren't shops set up in game at the moment. For the time being all shopping is done on a trading chat channel.

Unfortunately you can't be totally blamed for your negative outbursts and crude speech, since others have obviously been trying to push you buttons. ::::40::

I played AC2 for a few months... I will tell you why it sucks.

I remember I grouped with a level 45+ character while he was on a quest... me and a few buddies did NOTHING but sit around strum our insturments... then all of a sudden I gained over 5 levels like that. He did the quest which was super easy for him, but gave us UBER exp... has that been fixed? No!

I played the game where there was more then 800 people... then Micorsoft had this great idea to put all the servers together... still no more then 1200 people on at once...

I am only stating the facts here. If they would add content, add something different... another map, another something then maybe the game would still be good.

Haven't you noticed that MS stopped full support for the game a long ass time ago then sold it back to Turbine... I'm really surprised this game hasn't hit the dumps yet.

I admit AC1 was good, but they took 2 and turned it into a pile of good looking crap.

Actually, a lot of what you are complaining about has changed. 5 lvls? Wow, the only thing I know that could do that was a quest that was exploited way back in the day. But that has been resolved.

It sounds like you may have tried the game in its infancy. No big surprise that you have a gripe with it then. The funny thing is that it seems Microsoft stopped full support of the game long before it was released. It seemed more like a testing ground for their now cancelled Mythica. (woohoo!) And you speak of Microsoft no longer being in the picture as a bad thing. Turbine buying the Asheron's Call franchise back from MS was the best thing for the game. They really screwed up the game in so many ways and Turbine has been doing an excellent job of turning it around. For instance, the one issue a lot of people quit for was the chat problems the game was having. The chat was down all the time so no one could talk to their allegiances or do general chats. Whose responsibilty was the chat? MS! Turbine had to redo the whole thing from scratch. So in my opinion, no more MS = happy days. Go LINUX! ::::31::

I'm sorry, but numbers just don't prove anything to me. Just because a lot of people love Star Wars doesn't mean I'm gonna change my opinion about the game. Maybe AC2 should be based off of a movie. That might bring up the numbers... ::::36:: But honestly, tons of people play EQ but I think that game is one of the most boring ones out there. But according to your "facts" I should love it just the same.

The only real problem with most of your arguments is that you are having the problem grasping the difference between fact and opinion.
Example: Micheal Crichton is a better author than Stephen King. -------> Opinion.
Birds can fly. ---------> Fact.

See where I am going with this? I could care less if you hate the game. I actually prefer you staying out of it since we would hear nothing but negativity from you. So stay in SWG. It is obviously the best game for you since you love it so much. But please try not to come on here and tell people how they should think. What do you care if they think SWG sucks? People coming to these boards aren't here to read up on SWG, they're here to ask quesitons about ac2.

Umm u dont even know what u are talking about. Asherons Call 2 is the best MMORPG if u were to ask me. I have played Lineage 2, EQ and SWG. And i would easily with NO DOUBT in my mind say Asherons Call 2 is a better game. Lineage 2, Terrible Combat System, No loot, no crafting. So what graphics are good but th at is all that is good. EQ, i quit the very week i did the trial. So sad lots of people play that game. SWG to many bugs, and i dont think combat system is good. Asherons Call 2, has its own problems but ill sure tell u its way better then any other. Combat System is the best ive seen. And i like you not having to buy things, because it alows higher level characters buy stuff for lower levels that doesnt work. And Dude crafting 2.0 is the bomb. And tell me another game that even has a crafting system? It takes at least 3 months to lvl to 50, there are ppl that say they could do it in a month, but i believe they dont know what they are talking about. This game has the most potential then any other game out there. I might be looking into WoW, and some others.. but other then that, no others have turned my head.

Djin is right about the lack of people on AC2. Although i like it, i wish there were more poeple playing. I've switched to a US server from a European one, but there were still only 600 max online at peak time in the US yesterday. A real shame.

I wonder why they don't just collapse all the servers into one, or even began with only one server like EVE. In fact, even SWG doesn't need so many servers, and CoH is always light to medium everyday and it's probably enjoying the biggest popularity at the moment.

If AC2 had only one server, there would be around 2,800 peeps online (the Euro servers are about 300 max).

Your saying it again, that its not opinion. But if its coming from peoples thoughts of the game you call that facts, LOL. Oh, and I would just like to say I enjoyed SWG very much. In fact I think I maxed out to the most total max. I got everything, I basicly dryed the game out, but there is one thing I must say about the game, it lacks CONTENT.

I did play the game when the chat servers where always down, exploits up the ass... let me retry the game when 2.0 comes out and then let me re-judge this.

If you have a toon <50 You have A LOT of things to do at the moment. The point where people are feeling that they need more is 60+ content and that is by no means the majority of the population.
