The new E3 is mostly an invitation only event, with some 30-40 important (high roller) corporations invited only. I hate to say it, but Darkfall has no reason to be present at the high roller table.
The new E3 just started today (wednesday), you will see lots of info at gaming sites the next days. Only the biggest companies are represented though, so Darkfall is probably not there.
Yeah, not sure what the point of the new E3 really is.... the biggest companies sit around and show each other their game plans? Or are the media invited as well?

The media is invited, but it is a real invite only party. I write for Warcry and I know some of the main office is going but I personally did not receive an invite this year. Last year almost the entire staff that wanted to go could. I personally can see why they would want to give the media some more exclusive time, but I think this change is a mistake. With the new E 4 All starting up I believe we will end up with two low population events instead of one mega event.
...in the end there was no Good and Evil only living and dead...

It's like Darkfall lives within its own small world. I find we'll have to pray that this isolated bubble does not drown what would otherwise be (with high investment) a fantastic game.
That's true like update there yearly screen shot or two I hate to break it to you, but the chances of darkfall being released are slightly less likely as EA releasing UXO or UO2.

WOW, you really blow me out the water with that one, Darkfall may not come out! Who would have guessed? There's also hundreds of pics FYI.

sorry but 10 year old graphics, with alot of good ideas has been tried before, and it was called Dark and Light. I will personally eat rainworms if Darkfall turnes into a remotely success (200k concurremt subscribers) . Dont get me wrong, all the ideas darkfall is good, kinda sandbox with great pvp, which is excactly the kinda mmo i like, but when i se the sceenshots and the videoes, it see DnL all over agian..
I used to praise this game so much. I used to defend it from the Trolls, but now I have little faith that this game will ever make release, and if it does, I don't believe it will have any quality to it. AoC is the biggest reason this game won't get picked up by a bigger stuido. These two titles are competeing for a VERY similar player base. There are groups that like each of these two titles separtely, but ultimately the masses are torn between this and Conan. Conan has nearly unlimited resources, more money, more experience with MMO's, and much deeper pockets. Lets face it, no matter how much of an idealist you are, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken crap. I wouldn't expect you to be able to rebuild my Honda's engine with a toothbrush, and a can opener. Darkfall just doesn't have the tools to make this game a sucess right now, but hopefuly somebody like EA or Turbine or something will pick it up, but I doubt that any CEO would give it the OK, given how well AoC is going.
AoC is of course a much inferior game design then Darkfall, which I am sure we all agree on. If Darkfall delivers AoC might as never have gone into production. I am sure they are aware of this and scared shitless. Btw the 40k+ that follow Darkfall everyday is more people then are actually playing Vanguard. Also I have around 10 friends that will join me in Darkfall if it's good, they are just not believers like me. More gamers then you might think dream of Darkfall or a game like it and I have no doubts that it will see 500k players within the first year if it delivers.

You have friends that will join a game if it's good? I have friends like that too! What are the odds?
In all seriousness, I think it's ridiculous to say that AoC has an inferior game design to Darkfall. Conceptually, they share similar features, but Darkfall is completely sandbox while AoC seems to be taking a more structured approach. For one, I appreciate the fact that AoC has made it so your PvP town can't be destroyed by a guild at 7AM when no one is online.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea around Darkfall, but it's being produced by indie developers. AoC, on the other hand, is being produced by devs that have MMORPG experience dating back to 1995 and have been running a live MMORPG for 6 years now (Anarchy Online). You just can't teach experience.
To sum up, I would be extremely surprised if even ONE Funcom employee felt threatened by Darkfall. Even if Darkfall is a success, the mainstream doesn't like the hardcore sandbox PvP it features, while others appreciate a classic IP like Conan more than some random cliche fantasy world.

AoC game design is inferior to Darkfall; AoC has levels and leveling is something that should have died long ago from MMO's, AoC PvP is item based and we all know how well that works and finally AoC is first and foremost a PvE game (they don't even have friendly fire ffs).
Funcom has lot of experience and money, but then again, so did the people responsible for the latest trainwreck, Vanguard.
I'm certain world of Conan will get plenty of teens drooling with its uber-boobies and swetty males and it's true that AoC is more hyped, but they have more to worry about with WAR. WAR will have same kind of playstyle with AoC.
I will be playing AoC if there's no Darkfall by then, but choosing between these two games is a no brainer. AoC is a back-up game.
Funcom has the experience yes but it has been a bumpy road if I am to believe the former employees I have spoken to. AoC and DF in a way competed to get cash in the same market. Funcom got the funding to stay, Razorwax had to leave the country to get their funding. Both games has been in development since 2003 sot it is going to be kinda interesting how well the products will compare.
AoC is a traditional levelbased game with a lot of bling. DF is a little untraditional skillbased game with alot of feature for the hardcore gamer. AoC has cost a lot of cash and resources, DF has been cheaper. My guess is that if AoC gets 1 mill subs and DF gets 3-400k subs, DF are still going to make more money.
BTW according to warcry's DF journal, atleast some of the devs were busy with E3 this year.

ACtually, if you look on the E3 website, Darkfall did indeed show up, i wish they hadnt, I perfer that they keep the game out of mainstream so retards do not flood it, but none the less, they showed up
I read the article, well, briefly, i dont think they got too deep into the event, just a show of face, and i believe a minor demonstration, could be wrong on that part though, aventurine likes to be secretive
If this game comes out - it's going to sell itself. No advertising necessary.
you cant just make up a marketing strategy like that.. especially one that consists of "we wont do anything".. they will have to get the word out, or itll flop.. ya cant rely on word of mouth when games are costing as much as they do these days.. but if they keep going the way they are, everyone that was half interested will forget, or move on

DF is still pre-alpha, im not sure if conan is in closed beta yet or not, so nobody much of anything about the actual game design, so i dont know how you can think its so inferior.. game concepts is another story, and totally subjective... and can you link the source of that "40k daily followers" info?

you know, people have to find out about the game to be interested it, they cant just rely on you to tell them, unless you just want it all to yourself.
Seriously guys, what are the top 5 most sucessful MMORPGs to be released by indie devs with no experience and no big money publisher? look to that for your chances of sucess.

E3 got taken apart ages ago.... Erm... I really think the vaporware folks are having a hard time here
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
