Then today I get a card in the mail from sony. It says the following:
"Thank you for playing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.
Our records reflect you have cancelled your account. We are hard at work addressing the community's feedback and requests and in the meantime thought you may enjoy another one of Sony Online Entertainment's flagship MMOs.
SOE would like to offer you a FREE digital copy of EverQuest II, including the first three expansions and the first three adventure packs (up to a $60 value in total) and an opportunity to enjoy this established and very fun MMO on us! To take advantage of this special offer, log into your Station Account now and play for free untill 11:59PM PT September 15th, 2007"
Goes on to talk about how good EQ2 has become etc etc.
Not sure about you folks... but looks like SOE just tried to get all the former VG players who cancelled and might be waiting to play another game... instead of trying to assure us that VG is fine and well... and we are working on it.
If I were a VG player Id be rather pissed... and afraid.

    Nice conspiracy theory... nice try.

Please do not flame each other. If anyone deserves flaming it's Microsoft, as they were too shortsighted to the see amazing gameplay and potential of VANGUARD, which I might add, is the best MMORPG I've ever played, and has the best graphics I've ever seen. Anyone still subscribing to Vanguard is in for some big surprises soon, Im sure! I can't wait for the new developments that Sony have in store for us, for as we well know, Sony means quality!

WoW the Vanbois are out in force trying to put out this fire, but it won't work.

Anyone with any sense can understand the subtle message of this offer. SOE is gonna do as much for Vanguard as they have for Matrix Online. I laughed at the former statement of Sony equaling quality, that's a good one.

I'm sorry but which big company that you know of doesn't just care about profits? Microsoft? Blizzard?

oh take off the tin foil hats FFS. Anyone who actaully read the history of Sigil and the management of this game knows Sigil dug the hole this game is in not SOE.  SOE probably picked this game up for a insane low price which gives them the budget to operate in some quasi alpha production stage.

Offering VG players the opportunity to play a polished game while they actually write a scripting engine for VG etc etc is just smart.  WTF do you guys want from SOE? They pissed us off a few years ago and now you're going to lambaist them for everything they do?

I think some people just want to bitch for the sake of bitching.  The experienced and moderate gamer who actually wants to play fun games should rant about the bad and praise about the good a bit more.

How is issuing free subs to a working game when everyone and their dog knows VG is unfinished possibly a bad thing?

I played EQ 2 a while back again....dam good game .....but a wasteland in the low levels from my perspective.

Off topic, but you might find it a lot better now. SOE added 2 new races and two new start areas, they also have ANOTHER new race coming in a few months with another new start area.

Its true that Vanguard has improved but it still has issues according to some of my friends who have tried the game. The game has potential. They just need the right people to work on the game. If they can fix the game before there fanbase goes to unhealthy levels then they can make a comeback.

I have said from day 1 of the SOE purchase that they should just dump VG, give ALL purchasers a full up to date free copy of EQ2 with a free 1 month sub, and a exclusive /claim item or two to help them get a start in the game. All those extra devs that are beavering away to hammer something useful out of the wreck of VG would be much much better used on SOE's existing, and not fundementally broken, projects.

VG is just a money pit that will never fill no matter how much is thrown down it. I think SOE is just starting to realise that.

SOE are working hard to make this Game better and it is showning. There were a number of issues at start but a lot of those have been sorted now and it runs very smooth for me. They are keeping the VG community updated on what is happening and they are listen to our cries. They have a server merge planned and a great amount of high end content is being added with the next major update (not patch).

As for playing it. I find it to me one of the best mmo's out there. With fantastic graphics, amazing animations that you just DO NOT get in other games (you know who you are) and some of the Dungeons, say Trengal Keep - Just awesome.

Is there anything being said about this game that hasn't been said a thousand times before?

What they are saying here is: We understand you not wanting to play this tittle and we are NOT going to bother to convince you otherwise. ( like give you some FREE time with it until we can fix it)

Instead we are offering you a Free copy of a better game as a tolken of thanks for beta testing VG.
Goes on to talk about how good EQ2 has become etc etc.
Basically it goes on about how good EQ2 is now since they fixed that train wreck. (game is good now but was a VG flop when released)

I would be happy that SOE is trying to make up for a bad product. Afraid!? of what? We've allready played VG. Believe me most of us were scared when they gave the go ahead to go live with it.

Thought I would help out here. SOE knows VG is bad or they would'nt be working on it so much. They would like to keep your money so they are giving you another product to play. Smart move really. In fact it's so logical I can't believe they came up with it.
