I was having problems with my isp on swg, and through the hours of going back and forth with soe and my isp sony made me reinstall the game..of course I had the same problem (but i have a cable modem) where the patches would not dl for me, finally a sony customer svc rep just emailed the files to me..problem solved..

The community leader was right about one thing. You should not be getting d/c after 2 hours. Get a new dialup isp because its not normal. I played with a friend in DAoC in england who was on dialup and we played for many hours at a time and he never got d/c like that. And the same as me, I never got d/c consistenly in 2 hour intervals even 3 years ago with my dialup. I would lose my connection every once in awhile(maybe every 7-8 hours or so with some random d/c sometimes).
I dont see how being disconencted every 2 hours can be considered standard practice when I never heard of that before from an ISP.
I used to play "Planetside." It is a Sony Online Entertainment game and believe me, I was NOT impressed by the customer service, mainly because it was non-existent. You would email them about a cheater or hacker or bugs in the game, and they wouldnt even send you an auto-response or a message back. Horrible.
I'll have none of that! SWG has 500K users, it's the greatest most prefect game to ever bless us.
If SOE has done it, it was the correct thing to do.
No one else has ever made such perfectly balance games, with such flawless expansion packs time and time again, their game design is nothing short of extronary, and the "time-investment" game theory is exsactly what it takes to make a game everyone loves.
People that hate only do so becuase they dumb, we need to make laws to lock up those people. Something really should be done about them.

Coraith, unfortunately my wife likes playing the game so it's installed on my comp. If i can burn the patch files to a cd I will try and ship them your way. However, you may just want to cancel. If you are on dial up you will more than likely not be playing much anyways, you'll spend most of your time rubberbanding back and forth or lagging in place. I am cable and we still get horrible lag. Honestly, the game isn't worth the trouble you are having. If you want a good SW game get Knights of the Old Republic (and btw peeps, KOtOR II is near!) or Jedi Knight Academy.

Actually SWG has gone thru so many patches espically since the early mad days that 3 days patching on a 56k sounds about right.On a 2mb connection it took me nearly 2 hours to patch SWG from scratch.Since this is over 40 times faster then 56k thats 80 hours on a 56k which is over 3 days.Considering he might have a version of CD newer then mine yes 70 hours sounds on the dot. I think mmorpg that have had so many patches as SWG has had should offer the option to buy all the patches for the price of the CD and p&p.More of a courtesy thing rather then to make money.

It wasnt bad when i played it back in the day. Could you send me an email, maybe you could upload the files onto my host so i can dload tehm through a dload manager. Chaos_mtb@hotmail.com
I know BT anytime used to do that with me, thats one of many reasons I went Broadband.
You could use a free "pay as you go" account for patchs as I don't think there is a cut off time and use your "anytime" account for playing. I could be wrong, so do a bit of research first.
I really think you should look around and see if you can get a better deal with another ISP.
And yeah SOE's Support is pretty bad....I mean unless your a paying customer whats the point of downloading the patchs? They should have a FTP site.
recently i just bought everquest ( so what im a little late) just because it and a bunch of expansions was only 20 dollars. i installede it and that went fine, but then i went to patch it and couldnt get the patches. then i tried to go to everquest.com and the whole damn site wasnt working. i took it back the day afetr and bought lineage 2. i e-mailed sony and got a humongous e-mail telling me to fix my router and fire wall. forget that.

Funny he keeps asking for EA and notice how he took the time to get out his camera and take a picture of the screen rather than just hit the print screen button or however you take screenshots in FFXI.

I was having lag in game, I told him it might be video lag.
so ofcourse he asks if I have a hub.
Then he wants me to contact my ISP about some ports.
So I told him again, then he told me to call my ISP.
So I told him that I already did.
Then he says this
