    Well I'll go now and let you believe that a bank gave them 20 mill to work on darkfall.

    No bank in the world gives a 4 year old video game dev company that has done NOTHING to date 20 million dollars.

    Multiverse was founded by a group of professionals from Netscape and were only able to get 4 million in funding and not from any bank or VC firm but spread across 10 different Angel investors.

    and of course like any "normal" company that actually gets the money  , they make a public press release about it.

    Well of course they made a presentation to try and impress the VIPs or whoever, and the VIPs decided it was worth their money. To say they did nothing and received money is just ignorant.

    On a side note, why does this concern you so much? They have their money and they're making their game, what does it matter whether it's a loan or not?

    Can't understand why some people are so damn negative, A game is under development, Why are that so bad ?

    Rule #1 - Don't like it, don't play it.

    Rule #2 - Don't argument if you don't know anything, Go ask your mom for some candy instead.

    For what effect? You still dont believe it when its right there in front of your eyes. Even if they made a press report about it you would still try to think of something to combat against it.

    4 thingies:



    A) The loan was from an Investment's bank. And YES a milti-billion bank like Marfin can "gamble" with 27 million US dollars, see bellow.

    B) Aventurine claimed an convertible bond. This mean that the investor (Marfin) can ask for shares instead of money. Think of it: Game comes out, in one month is has 3 million users. Marfin asks for shares worth 27 million (or whatever is left from the loan). If they get 51% of the shares, they control the company. Its almost Win-Win for Marfin, right?

    C) About the "WTB official report or it didn't happen"  argument, its an investement, not a loan. About the Mythic loan, i bet cookies against dollars that TA stated in the contract that they will both make statements like that for publicity reasons.

    I just don't get why people care so much about the many topics in regards to Darkfall that are all circumstantial either way. Unless some of you guys work for adventurine inc then you really can't say whether either argument is true and in the end does it really matter?

    If they make the game, we play it and enjoy it. If they don't, they don't, I won't shed any any tears and I doubt any of you guys will either. In the end the pointless arguments people have here are just that, pointless, and you guys arguing against the random trolls aren't any better. Seriously, who really cares what that guy thinks, you are justifying that his argument has basis by arguing against him. If you feel he has no basis for his argument then ignore him and he will be talking to himself which is probably what he does most of the time anyway.

    It doesnt matter what HE thinks but if someone who knows nothing about it reads it it might sway him from ever looking at the game.

    Exactly, they got to have showed the INVESTOR GROUP something that's really awesome since they were allowed to loan such a huge amount of money... maybe the BETA version? :) Now, I'm not a "darkboy" (or whatever you could call a Darkfall fanboy) but deep inside me I'm an optimist when it comes to this game... mostly since I want a sandbox game that doesn't include RL grind (EVE-online).

    Google: a multibillion $ company, listed in NASDAQ, which means it gets serious and vigorous public control, against
    Aventurine: a Privately held company with NO serious -if any- Investors, no company profile, NOT listed in ANY stock market in this world, which nobody can control. For a company like this, its CEO can say whatever he wants. He can claim that The Space shuttle is based on its own Designs, that there are Aliens on Mars, and that he can produce oil from water. In the same fashion he claims he has a game called Darkfall. It's your choice what is it that you want to believe, but please dont compare true companies with vapor companies

    My guess would be the lucrative military contracts they have with Greece. Everyone is just assuming that the full loan is going to DF. This company has built up it's capital on other software. I am sure at least a small chunk of that loan is going to the R&D of the military software they have been developing... after all it is the companies only source of income.

    The company is real... The game is real... the question is will the game be any good. Read my responses in the other threads for details... but historically the answer is a resounding no.

    The game will be released late next year over budget and with major issues. All the signs point to this... Blind faith does wonders for ignorance.

    Um, the only thing that was stated was that Google got $20 million after 1 year in exstance. Noone is comparing the comapnies beyond that.

    Google is Google. It's pointless to implicate the name of a company that somehow has done a miracle in less than 2 years. There are not that many examples, and there cant be that many examples like google, or youtube.

    What is an S.A? Does it matter?

    Vapocompany is one that sells vaporwares :p

    It is not exactly pointless. Facebook isn't very comlicated technologywise but somehow it was a marked where noone had guessed. Sandbox games may or may not use the same viral marketingmechanisms..   Internet make it possible IF the product is good enough.

    If you believe that this Company is going to make such a huge success, inventing new ways of marketing in the meantime, well what can I say? Too many molds to break, but good luck!

    This vapoware had its chances 10 years back, when everyone was looking to play with elves. World is changing and growing, the teener of the '90s '00s is now over 20-30. Lord of the rings is done, and Harry Potter is dead (I hear). The Lordis are already 3 years old, and I must say the last lucky ones to get a prize :d

    I understand you think fantasy is dead but for me this game is not about dragons, elves or wizards. Its about the freedoms a sandbox game can offer compared to a themepark game. Playing warriors, space marines or police officers wouldn't matter to me.

    No I dont need and I won't. On the other hand should you wish to learn about businesses, you can choose from an infinite wealth of courses of business administration. It will help you learn a lot for business legal forms, and you also might catch some very basic business ethics that were already been discussed on this thread

    Yes that might be true if there was a game, from a theoretical point of view. But here, everything works against that vaporware: its 10 years late. I have posts about this game in Greece, as early as 1998. Even if it manages to go retail at some point, it will still face problems, bugs whatever. And lastly, you dont really know if people love this kind of total freedom. And even if that was true and people were loving DF's gameplay, then a big company woulda spotted it, and develop a better one in 2 years... I mean if you guys had a game, which you don't

     The lasy year I have heard nothing but "we hate games with endgame".   I don't think freedom will be a problem and it is a huge market. And really, 2 years development for a better game ?

    The posts existed or still exist, but dont expect archives of 10 year old adverts. And certainly Im not gonna waste my time here trying to find proof to keep a stupid debate going. Your vaporware was conceived 10 years back. Since then its still in the making...


    I don't understand what exactly is it that you mean with the S.A definition. Be more specific and you might get an answer or not. I guess in any country in the world one can found an S.A company or ltd. Particularly in Greece this is even easier, once you pay fees for bureaucracy, which are not even much. My maid could raise an S.A here.

    Well, according to some definitions i found, you needed GRD 10 million to start a S.a. Now, that valuta doesn't exist anymore but that is about $40.000. Not very much I agree but my argument goes against you saying Aventurine wasn't registerd anywhere.

    Linked information is more valued here than not linked information. Sorry but I for one don't take your word for it.

    So please stop pulling "facts" out you a** and start to prove what you are talking about.
