OK, so you just have to mail-order and hope for a timely delivery, just don't expect to grab it at your local mall store. As to the System specs, I am confused, , you build and publicize a product as a DX10 release, yet claim it is no more system intensive than Oblivion. Umm, okay, right... I play Oblivion with most of the options near High, yet Vanguard I could barely squeek out 20fps at Medium quality, and lets not speak about raid situations... The combat system, meh... 5 attacks, sure you can mix and match for special effects but DAoC did that years ago and had a hell of a lot more than 5 attacks. So what is so 'new and innovative'? The lack of targetting and auto-targets is all I can think of. Who cares about the different races, as long as char customization provides for near unique toons I could care less that they are Cimmerians and Aquilonians and not Orcs and Elves. Do I want AoC, oh YEAH! Go Stygian Ranja! But! Am I seeing an incipient Train wreck fast approaching? Sadly yes. And I have a fair amount of experience having beta'd Horizons, DDO and Vanguard. Crash and burns all.
AoC and M rating will be carried by EB/Gamestop.There is already an agreement to stock it and pre order sales are already available thru them, where you get a free mount and a bag. Best Buy ad Walmart as far as I know are N.American stores only, not much of an impact on global sales there. I saw a information on Bioshock rated M in both those stores over the weekend though.
Where are you getting 5 attacks from? Those are directional swings for melee and are precursors to combination attacks. FYI, its nothing like DAoC - read up a bit more. Your choice in Beta testing 3 games has no bearing on AoC and a train wreck, your lack of obvious information on the game also doesn't make you an expert and I would love to know how you cme to the train wreck conclusion based on what we have seen so far, and not the whole game, and also the fact you haven't played AoC yet.
I think its cool that you have an interest in AoC, but there is plenty of information about on the finer details of the game, you kinda speculated wrong in you post.

Why does EB Games have a preorder for Age of Conan set up if they aren't going to carry the game?
Why does Best Buy sell Oblivion? Why does Walmart sell Oblivion?
I think your limiting the stores by a bit much. As far as I can see there's no reason for any of those stores not to carry Age of Conan.
So the only downside from a marketing standpoint is that kids can't come in and buy it without an adult present.
And Vanguard probably couldn't squeak out more than 20 FPS due to coding issues, not due to graphical load.

The rating that major retailers will not carry in the U.S. is AO (Adult's Only, not Anarchy Online!)
M rating is carried is just about every major retailer, feel free to do a search on most sites, and you'll find "M" product.
Please don't talk like your somehow superior to 14 year olds... Your not.
Besides that, All the major retailers sell M rated games. Halo, Oblivion, GTA, you think that they got the majority of their sells online? And I also think that playing as only humans will be a feature. A feature that many games don't have. The realistic theme will also be a feature, although I think they should tone down the blood a little - or are these people extra prone to bleeding?

You kinda do have to laugh, even more so when age is concerned. What I said wasn't a knock down it was fact.
Blood visuals Im sure will be scable. If thats the average setting shown lately, I agree imo needs to be turned down a notch.
Things that MIGHT bring this game down... 1.) M Rated 2.) High graphics ( and people complained about VG) 3.) New , unused combat system 4.) 1 race 5.) Release near WAR( somewhat ) If you have anymore please do tell.
Not meant to be a flame
1.- Do you think that games like "grand thef auto" got problems cause its rating?
2.- There will be a day that everyone of us must change his computer... but, its true, perhaps it will be the greatest problem of this game, and, perhaps, you can set up it to get better perfomance insttead of quality and run ok in your comp.
3.- Lot of people talk about the combat system, someday we have to do something else than click and point combat, someday must be something different, someday the mmo market must stop doing clones and clones and clones and the same with different graphic engine and bring something new. Why people think that what is new is a problem. Also, Chronicles of Spellbron uses the same system.
4.- Really 3 races... but, dunno if this will be a problem, guildwars got only one race, not 3 like connan (perhaps there are not elf, dwarf etc... but there are 3 different "region races") and there is no problem in the customization. Also, wow got lot of races and almost all the chars looks the same, and got the same skills, you know, a warrior from one race and from another are almost the same in wow. But, think connan got Really good classes beyond races.
5.- Think they are two different games: In the beggining I was following war and put conan a side. But, conan got its own cons/pros, and its own design, perhaps, war remembers me too much too wow, the interface, the races... and found conan something with more innovations. But, they are 2 different games, we must wait to see how one is going, and how, the other one is going, besides, the blinded fanbois. Hope there is market for the two.
The best think will be that we all get a open beta, for this, for war, for chronicles etc... to see what it can offer, to know if we can run on our computer, and, so besides fanbois, that already know everything of everygame , all the other will wait to see the final game, hope is good, and hope this bad feeling is only this, also, hope war is good enought too, so I have a problem deciding wich one to play, and, the two companies must compete and give us better game, quality and price.

Well im sorry that you feel obligated to base your entire opinion on teenagers/children based on the few sorry ones you've met during your "life experiences" But why stop there? There's millions of ignorant/stupid adults out there that by your standards all should be insignificant compared to you... So thereby you all adults are inferior to you also. The same you which im confident has never made these mistakes that you openly criticize. Although I am curious to what "life experiences" you have experienced that make you justified to see all "children" as inferior to you. But as you said, you have your opinion, and I - a mere "child" - have mine.
And concerning the blood, maybe it will be scalable. But I hope there's more choices than "no blood" and what they have shown so far. I mean, every swing of the sword basically poured out a gallon of blood lol. Even through all the armor and clothes.
Also, i know the melee combat is different, but for those not interested on combat, is the spellcasting anything innovative?
Things that MIGHT bring this game down... 1.) M Rated 2.) High graphics ( and people complained about VG) 3.) New , unused combat system 4.) 1 race 5.) Release near WAR( somewhat ) If you have anymore please do tell.
If thats a flame some people need to be desensitied ! Anyways...
1. M Rated could swing either way. From stupidly over the top to mature quest lines and adult themes. I'd love to see them do the depth of a non HollyWood movie.
2. VG wasn't high end grpahics or even is. Just badly ptimsed and rushed out release. Scalable engines will make or break AoC here.
3, I guess this is a worry but people complain about button amshing WoW combat so maybe we should celebrrate something new. Unless it is a pile of steaming .... I'd rather risk that than button mashing WoWness.
4. All fantasy races are just humans draw to certain behaviour and extremes. As long as charector creation is varied we shold be ok. Hell maybe you cna shove on some flopyp malformed ears or lower yourself to human "dwarf" size.
5. Ah other games.. well thats a market for you. Maybe we'll just get more chance of a game we like. Or swap between two or three as many players do now.
AoC and M rating will be carried by EB/Gamestop.There is already an agreement to stock it and pre order sales are already available thru them, where you get a free mount and a bag. I think its cool that you have an interest in AoC, but there is plenty of information about on the finer details of the game, you kinda speculated wrong in you post.
First off let me be clear, I WANT AoC to be glorious. Grew up reading Conan. I seems like a Lore filled world I would enjoy. BUT I am not a fanboi enough to accept blindly all promises of the last minute *Super Sekrit Sauce* build that fixes all problems and does the dishes as well!
Apologies, for some reason I was mistaking M as the Adult game rating, nudity, blood, etc, usually earns an adult only rating here in the USA. Maybe not the rest of the world, can't speak for that. If as stated AoC has Blood and Sex here that would likely NOT be an M, unless the local version is editted/censored.
5 attacks, yup, I stand by my comment. Sure if you do A, A, C, B, A you activate a special move and the targets head flies off and monkeys fly out of a certain orifice... Sounds an awful lot like the old classic console controller fighting moves. Won't know for certain until I get to actually play with it, but it sounds meh...
What does my comment on the previous betas have to do with anything? They all shared one thing in common, promises without delivery. AoC will have immense troubles delivering on their promises if they are still only at the Technical Beta stage less than 3 months from release. They are about 7 weeks from feature lock, should have had the manual written and sent to the printer. And they haven't even started content and gameplay balancing. They had better be damned sure of their perfection if they even remotely plan on the Oct 31 date being reality. If they DO still intend on the Oct. date then expect another bug ridden, contentless, half finished product. Personally I expected monthes ago to hear of a delay in release date.
I will be pleasantly surprised if they do make Oct with a finished and polished product, but I fully no longer expect it.
Remember the quality of that paper you wrote the night before it was due as compared with one you had a chance to proofread and sleep on before turning in? THAT is what I fear, a hurried, 'good enough' product lacking in polish and balance.
Regardless of what they do, it should be good. Will it be a hit? Probably. The Xbox 360 connection, will be a plus, I think, as far as player base goes. I have a feeling that the future of this, and other decent games, will be cost to subscribers. At least in the U.S. As Fuel cost's have nearly tripled since 2000, and food has nearly doubled, many folks just wont be able to justify, that extra 10, 12, or even 15, bucks a month. I hope I am wrong, but its hit me allready, And now, just since july, I can play no more p2p games. I'd rather have that extra half tank of gas, or two days of groceries.
Things that MIGHT bring this game down... 1.) M Rated 2.) High graphics ( and people complained about VG) 3.) New , unused combat system 4.) 1 race 5.) Release near WAR( somewhat ) If you have anymore please do tell.

With the exception of 4 , this may be what will make this game SHINE!
I got a bad feeling becuase the DEVS seem to have gone under ground.. so close to release they should be releasing videos and all sorts, All I have seen are a few poor combat videos, wheres the videos showing guild housing/villages, PvP and sieges.
I realy dont think all these things will be their at launch... and we might have a vanguard on our hands.. you know "it has potential" kinda game.

As for not wanting to play a human, then don't play AoC... byebye. It can be a rich world in its own right with its own mythologies and histories and tales to be woven and in that barbaric world, there are more mature elements present as part of that fabric. Hooray, all for it. I do hope, however, they provide enough character customization that we dont have a bunch of clones running around the world.
Personally I'm so sick of elves and everybody and their grandchildren having 3 elfy little alts running around it makes me want to lop the cloned head types off every single one of them. Reminds me of Mary Gentle's Grunts, the orc marine captain calling out to his Sergeant, "Get me another elf Sergeant! This one's split!" Or a couple of the orc marines up on the high parapet of a fortress wondering whether or not elves bounce. (They do.)
A very wise author once said, to paraphrase, "What is the point of creating a fantasy world if you are using the same old tired things someone else has already created and hundreds of others have written about? (That's China Mieville by the way)
I think the thing seems to be these days though that with the explosion of the MMO market many companies interested in pursuing the development of a MMO are seeking the high end IPs like Conan, Warhammer, Stargate, Star Trek, Firefly, worlds that already have a solid fanbase because from a business perspective, if you want to break into a very crowded field, that's a way to better assure a decent player base and the money and success that would follow.
I like a mature rating, then again I am 30 and I prefer to play with other adults. I don't care about multiple races like fairies and elves either, and to be frank I'm sick of fairies and elves and Orcs, I and many others have had their fill.
