This according to the writter, which is rather odd when SOE doesn't release numbers. It looks like subscription speculation is not exclusive to just these forums.

I like how he said the Dev team was sticking to the lore...Yep.. and or commiting to communication...???
What is left out is the "WHEN" we started doing this or "HOW" and "WHY".... lol like the first part of the games life was not needed to communicate or tell the truth type stuff was just left out lol....
Thats what I want to see one interviewer ask. (Being that most interviews with LA or SOE are scripted and why you don't see some of the hard questions asked)... which of course Fisher knows I think.

First off let me say I do not trust Smedley and think his business practices are completely unethical.
That being said, I am one of those vets that have returned to the game and seeing other vets not only playing the trial but reactivating their accounts. It is not the game I bought but it is now playable especially if your into PvP and I much rather play SWG then WOW. SWG allows you to play solo or with just a few people and the community that is there is what keeps the returning vets to re-up their subscriptions.
Like I said, who cares? It's the same ol' same ol' BS that no one is buyin.
Fish seems to be buying it...
Let's dig up some past Smedley (aka LIAR) interviews shall we?
Let's see, he said immediately after the NGE hit that subs weren't down...
He said an expansion would hit stores 6 months after the NGE hit (has it been 6 months yet Smed? ), he said people wanted "iconic"... If he meant the 20,000 currently playing SWG, then yes, he is correct.
He's been lying to this community for 4 years, what else is new?
100,000 people playing... YA RIGHT, lol. Not even half that number of people play the game and if they do then they must all be hiding out if the Outer Rim because they sure are hard to find...

You mean SWG allows you to play solo because THERE ARE NO OTHER PEOPLE PLAYING?
The reason vets keep doing the trial or re-subbing is because there isn't another Star Wars MMO to play and they miss SWG. Even the VAST majority of people on the SOE forums do nothing but complain about how much the NGE sucks.
Doesnt matter at this point guys. Its going EQ2 from what I can see. Great for those who play, not so good for those that want a real Starwars MMO. Is there any Star Wars left other than the skins in SWG?
See you in the dream.. The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.

yes for some profs, it does suck. I was a weaponsmith and only thing good about that profession right now is that i can make weapons with sockets for attachments, other wise looted or quest weapons are much better. The PvPers are having fun with the Galactic Civil war.
And no I do not mean that that there are no other people playing, but I do not have to get 40 people of certian classes and specs together to go do something.
Yeah 100k subs must be counting those with station access that have never played the game. Anyway you can make numbers says anything and Smedly is in no position of trust.
So, player population is brought up again? Pre-NGE, most definitely before the CU, the player population was huge for Pre-WoW standards.
Planetary hubs were very busy with player traffic. Mos Eisley (after it was made the newbie starting), Bestine, Theed, and the busiest of them all, Coronet. Lots and lots of players "barking" their business advertisements, for better or worse in terms of lag, but it showed alot of player activity. I recall the Med Centers with lots of people recovering from a day's adventure, speaking to Medics & Doctors who are treating their wounds. I recall the Cantinas were packed with LIVE, NON-HOLOGRAPHIC Entertainer players, many of whom were purely non-combat and non-crafter, just ALL Entertainer... and speaking with tons of actual players in the Cantina. Everybody had their favorite Entertainer. But by far the busiest Cantina was Coronet's. Coronet Cantina used to be packed just like the most successful, real life night clubs. Lots of people, lots of Entertainers, lots of conversing.
When the CU hit, SWG lost a bit of that traffic. It couldn't be denied. But we still had quite alot of people playing.
Then the NGE hit. Next thing you know, people were gone. Once busy hubs were deserted. Theed? Mos Eisley? Very light player traffic.
My Sister still plays. When I visited home, I watched her play the game. I saw her go through the "hubs" of SWG. Theed, Mos Eisley, Bestine, and even Coronet. Very, very few people. Entertainers? AFK, probably someone's alt. Entertainers and Cantina activity the way I knew it in SWG was gone a long time ago.
Lastly, the other official indicator of player activity in SWG. The Official SWG Forums. Before the NGE, the forums were very, very busy. The traffic was quite high. But the busiest sub-forum by far was the Galactic Civil War Forum. That forum was so busy that it was extremely hard to keep your thread in the first page or two.
The Official Forums these days? The traffic is miniscule compared to what I saw before the NGE. Even the CU had far busier forum activity.
I concede the fact that not all players of any game post on official forums. Everyone knows that (hopefully). But even with this idea, Pre-NGE SWG had by far more traffic in the forums.
There is no large player population anymore in SWG, not like the Pre-NGE days. The official forum activity and in-game player activity reinforces that.
I could go on, but I think SWG has been kicked enough for today.
Naaaah, I'll go on...
As for the SWG devs respecting Star Wars canon... they wouldn't know Star Wars canon if George Lucas hit them in the face with his original "Star Wars" script. SOE has shown little regard for Star Wars canon. You have tons of Jedi running around freely, without a care in the world. There is no gameplay or thematic difference between the Empire and Rebellion. There eventually was a huge focus on the Old Republic / Clone Wars era, instead of remembering that the GCW does occur in the Imperial era. The GCW was about the fighting between the Empire and Rebellion, not some horrific mutation of the Star Wars story. The prevalence and usefulness of Old Republic / Clone Wars era equipment is easier to come by than equipment made during the Imperial / GCW-era. The DL-44 is only for incompetent noobs according to SWG, so I guess they mean to say Han Solo was a total idiot for favoring such a piss-poor weapon.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." (First Lieutenant Clifton B. Cates, US Marine Corps, Soissons, 19 July 1918)

Still some Veterans have returned cause they'll pay for crap justlike they pay for McDonalds. However i played the last game for all the social content and how unique the game was + you couldmix and match professions which was very cool. Ok the CU was crap and after Jedi PRe Cu just was going down the drain but it was still much better than NGE. I completed everything there was to do even after the NGE and it was soooo buggy and horrible to play and nothings changed. I tried playing the other day with that return for a certain amount of days for old accounts and it's the esact same and theres still NO CONTENT.
How you can play the new end game is beyond me cause theres nothing to do :S I completed Mustafar in less than a week like with one other guy who i grouped with constantly and cause back then it was all easy unless they fixed it now then it's still the same. The PVP is boring as hell too i just don't like and the old game had a much better system and was much more fun. I liked how they fights would last like 10 mins but now they last 30 seconds.
Your never going to get me back into SWG unless they return the game to atleast pre cu but i'd prefer Cities and mount patch before Jedi.

You mean SWG allows you to play solo because THERE ARE NO OTHER PEOPLE PLAYING?
The reason vets keep doing the trial or re-subbing is because there isn't another Star Wars MMO to play and they miss SWG. Even the VAST majority of people on the SOE forums do nothing but complain about how much the NGE sucks.
yes for some profs, it does suck.

And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
Smedley reminds me of the Iraqi Information Minister
Classic SWG > CUNGE
