oh and my comment about AoC's release date was not really ment to be taken seriously, I was just throwing garbage around like the AoC boys and WAR boys do all day on these forums.
As for Q1 2008 release for Darkfall is pretty logical, their beta build is ready, they are just waiting to settle if they are going to self publish or not before they move forward, they have stated many times before that they will have a short open beta due to the fact that they have already done extensive closed beta for years behind closed doors. They have already simulated battles of hundreds of players and the servers hold up without a hitch.
I really hope you are right and they release Q1 2008. I am tired of waiting for Aventurine to show how inept they are. Hopefully another reputable company will copy their ideas and do them justice. As to a publisher... they have been working out publishing for over 6 months... sorry that makes them seem desperate. Sounds like they want a publisher but will have to self publish in the end. Tasos puts a great spin on it in his last update though.

As for the date, I think we will se a open beta in Q1 2008 for DF unless they have some secret plan up their sleeves. They are a pretty secretive bunch. I would however laugh my a** off if DF was released before AoC.

Actually it would be iditoic if they released first with no QA being done.
*Rolls on the floor* Darn these AoC fan boys. Well, heres "in words how DF devs have said it":
- Dev: We will begin "public" beta when the game is finished.
- One of the newest dev quotes: Darkfall is technically ready for beta.
Summary of these two: Darkfall is ready.
Though, lack of QA? ( or did they get one manager yet?) And publishing problems are the things they need to worry about now.
Of course, the game still have bugs (theres always bugs), thats what beta is about.. Theres still more than couple of months to Q1 08'. Plenty of time for testing.
In the end, its freaking dumb to debate between AoC and Darkfall when none of you have played both of them, in my opinion DF looks better for now (I hate idea of singleplayer even for 20 first lvls etc) in AoC, also the siege video looked so horrible in my eyes, swords are swang two meters away from opponents and they hit, how can you even begin claiming that will be skill based.

The beta development milestone was met early in December. Since then we've had a fully functional and stable beta build up on remote servers, which is being patched regularly. At the moment we're using part of this system to show the game to prospective partners, distributors, publishers, technology providers, etc. Our motivation here is to provide the best quality assurance, distribution, and service for the game and its players, so we consider this to be a very important phase for Darkfall.

Graphics look better and better, by the time we can play this game, we will be in virtual reality, so graphics will be even better then.

So they have been showing it to publishers for 9 months and nothing has happened. If it was a great game, publishers would have jumped at the chance to publish it. 9 months and nothing. Its a bad sign. plain and simple

I just don't understand naive people like you. They have missed their release date by over 5 years, and you pretend that nothing is wrong. You really are living in a fantasy world.
In 2004 I started voicing my doubts about this game, based on the slow progress it was making. All the fanbois screamed at me, saying that this game would be released in 2004 for sure, and that I was was totally crazy. Who looks crazy now?
This game is going to be the only other mmo out there that doesn't suck besides EvE Online. Since it takes so long to make mmos, and nothing else looks good on the horizon, we will wait and hope, and eventually, we will get our Darkfall.
