Lets be honest, not many of us here are honest to the core.
Those of use who are, i commend you.
Lets get honest and find some things about about what you have done or would do.
Have you ever exploited a bug or game glitch you knew about to the detriment of other players OR to your unfair advantage?
Have you ever used a bot or 3rd party program to level faster or play at longer lengths that otherwise able, and if not, would you ever consider it if it came with a guarantee you would not get caught.
Have you ever or would you ever consider using a leveling service to get your character to max - get lots of hard to attain items and/or money?
I'll answer first:
I have exploited a known bug one time, that allowed me a fast xp rate by kiling the same mob over and over who respawned faster than usual.
I've never used a bot or 3rd party program to get an unfair advantage in a game.
I've never used a leveling service, but i would consider it these days as i have a full time job and love PVP MMORPG's and would love to play at the top level without spending months grinding away to it.
Your honesty is appreciated.

Ok, I'll play.
I have exploited bugs. Mostly just mob pathing/agro issues and terrain glitches. In fact, way back when in EQ when I was becoming disillusioned with the game I actively sought out bugs just for something to do. It was kind of fun knowing those little secrets which most people didn't know about.
I have never used a bot or 3rd party program. Er...well, I guess I did use hacks way back in the first Diable game if that counts. But that just reinforced in my mind how badly cheating ruins games and I have never done it since.
I have never used a leveling service or bought gold, items, or accounts. And I never would. To me it seems the epitomy of stupidity to pay to play a game and then pay someone else to play the game for me.
No I wouldn't use any glitch or bug if it gave me an unfair advantage, the only ones I would ever use are ones that are just for fun, like in WoW where I once glitched into the areas above the EPL and ran around taking screenshots.
No I haven't nor will I ever used a 3rd party program for botting, I don't even use UI mods that I consider unfair.
No I haven't used a leveling or gold service, and when i get to the point where I feel I need one to have fun I just quit because if I can't play from 1 to max and have fun the whole time then the game must not be worth it.
Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
I have exploited a known bug for a shield that gave more armor than it was supposed to. I knew it was going to get put back to normal in the next patch though and knew it would still be a decent shield for my character's level. Other people had made that shield and were selling it for astronomical prices knowing that it would be put back to normal stats. I however just kept the shield.
I've never used a bot or 3rd party program to gain an unfair advantage. I've never used a bot or 3rd party program in general, period.
I've never used a leveling service ever. Also I would never consider it. If I need to use a service to play my game and have fun something is wrong with the game or with me. If it even crossed my mind to use one for a game I was playing I would quit that game because it means its not the right game for me.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
No to all three.
oh this topic looks fun.
ive exploited in every mmo i have ever played. whether it be using a 3rd party program or using a heavy object on your keyboard to keep your character using a skill to allow it to train up to max while you were sleeping.
in wow i used a program to keep my character queing up for bg's so that he would get honor so i could get gear without actually having to play the game, and in many times while i was sleeping. why would i do this? i dont play games to collect shit, i play games to have fun.
in uo, i made macros so that my character would gain skills without me having to play him. ezuo, razor, uoassist. there were tons of programs for this. why would i do it? because imo, the game starts when my character is completed 7x gm. thats when i have fun playing the game.
these are just 2 examples of things ive done and oddly enouph they were done for the same reasons. to take the tedius parts that i find completely useless in game development out of my style of play but allowed me to keep playing and having fun.
Edit- ah i didnt see the leveling service question. now i havnt ever used a 3rd party program to lvl my character in a lvl based game. i dont really see the point in paying someone to do it for me. wouldnt make much sense really.
No to all questions.
No to first.
Unfortunately yes to 2nd. I used a fishing program in FFXI. It was the only way i could maintain some type of money and play that game while trying to maintain a normal life of work/gym/relationship/games :P. I never had that much money anyways with that in place. Although it did get my fishing up to 72 :P. Which would take forever normally. I stopped playing that game end of 2004.
No to last.
No to all.
But about the first question, it's not a matter of "I wouldn't", because if said glitch or bug was actually fun to exploit then why not, for a while at least. The problem is that those things are always boring as hell, and not even the prospect of getting fast levels and whatever is sufficient enticement to dedicate my time to such an activity.
I have never used a bug knowingly. If something happened and it was an exploit it never occured to me it was.
I have never used bots as I cant figure the damn things out. I have used a third party program for AC and EQ2 but got rid of them because they were more trouble than they were worth.
I would not pay someone to play a character I pay to play. I bought some plat from a friend once becuase they had alot and I wanted some, but I would not buy it from a farming site.
Bug/Exploit, mostly pathing or obstacles in game to create an advantage.
Bot program, yes, during my AC days, I would us a macro program for self buffing and such. When self buffing can take up to 10 minutes of key pressing & waiting.
Power leveling service, NO
buying ingame items, Yes, at the time I was selling pyreal/items/accounts on ebay during the early days of this craze. (I made over $2k over the course of 2 years of playing I figured it was my time and I just hunted high demand items while I leveled) I bought some shadow pieces once after I had sold some shadow hunter armor for a nice profit.
( I was small potatoes in that realm of RMT , one of the guys I know was selling accounts for $500-$800 each (1-2 a week) over the 2nd of year of AC) that was a nice payday.)
Current MMO: FFXIV:ARR
Past MMO: Way too many (P2P and F2P)
The only one of those that I have done was exploiting a bug years ago when AC was new. I dont even remember the area of the monster but there was a casting spell that did damage through a wall so you could keep killing high lvl mobs without the chance of being being hit back. Very quick XP that was unearned. It lasted a while too because not many people seemed to know about it..or they had strong morales than I did...
Would never buy gold or leveling..whats the point?
Yes, I have taken advantage of terrain glitches and the like.
No, I haven't used 3rd party programs, but I did use the penny-holding-the-key down to work skills when that worked in UO. If I knew I wouldn't get caught, I might consider using a 3rd party program to grind out something like EQ1 trade skills. I mean, who cares if it is really me or not clicking "COMBINE" 4000 times? Well, I guess people who actually do sit there and click 4000 times might care... But I don't tradeskill for the market, just for quests and to make things for myself. I wouldn't use a 3rd party program to level, though, since I actually like the adventuring parts of a game.
No, I wouldn't use a levelling service, since I am more interested in adventuring along the way than actually being high level. I wouldn't buy stuff either, since that would ruin the fun for me.
...
This is where I draw the line: __________________.
No to all 'cept the third party question. I used a program for FFXI that allowed you to play it in a window.

I have unknowingly exploited bugs to gain an unfair advantage.
I have used a 3rd party program to level crafting in SWG because back in the day leveling crafting in SWG was a fucking joke.
I would never ever pay for someone to play my game, if I wanted to pay for someones subs I'd pay for someone I knew at least. I have however shared accounts with freinds in alternating time zones in order to level faster. I have had a freind who can level insanely fast boost me so I can join the rest of my mates when I've been away for whatever reason.

I have never done any of those things, as they all defeat the purpose of playing a game.
There is no sense of fulfillment if you had to cheat to get where you are.
I will bite.
I never used an illegal third party program on an MMORPG.
I used one on Diablo 2 for open battle.net. It was fun for about six seconds.
I exploited a bug in a game which allowed me to kill an NPC in a city for exp which should have resulted in instant death via guards. Supposedly this quest-giver was on a different faction and therefore remained unaided by those nearby. My character could barely solo this NPC. It was highly farmed by many.
I've experienced terrain glitches, but I've never actively pulled mobs into a pathing trap. EQ was famous for poor pathing.
I would never pay for leveling/gold/items. Even if it was legal. If I played a game which allowed legal use of a service like this I would quit that game. Yuck.
There were many methods for duping gold in one game I played. I once tried to use this system just for kicks. It didn't work and I felt dirty attempting it.
edit: Rereading the thread I realized that I did use a 3rd party program for windowed gameplay. Now everyone gets that with no risk. Shucks!

I sold my little sister to one of those Chinese gold-farming companies.
I swallowed a condom full of cocaine and smuggled it into the United States in exchange for leveling services.
I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die, and also so I could sell his WoW account on eBay.
I've never used a 3rd party service. If at any time I find myself not wanting to play a game I don't. A friend leveled my WoW warrior from 55-60 because I was too busy irl to keep up with the group as about 10 of us had started out together and were about to cap.
I bought 200g in WoW to pay for my 1st mount. I've considered buying a max level account in EVE only because they have the most retarded progression system I have ever heard of, but the high end stuff looks like fun. I imagine I will buy gold again someday. Again, I am not going to be gimped by morality when 99% of the gaming population doesn't have scruple # 1.

I do understand what you're saying in some regards. In Ultima Online for a long while after the non-PvP facet was launched players could loot the body of a player who could not reach their corpse within 7ish minutes. I know many players would pretend to res players or pretend to heal them as they died in order to gain access to their loot.
I took part in this when it suited me. Players in Ultima Online are notorious for being griefers. Players who attempt to steal loot or any other number of bad habits would often times be given the false heals.
Sad that this trend has continued.
In defense of morality I have no reason to exploit the system in games like WoW. There is no real benefit for me, and only drawbacks to others. Perhaps on a PvP server there is more opportunity to exploit in your own favor. That's a reason that I do not play PvP servers.

I used to kill Phloatin Highbrow using the lift exploit in Erudin!
Have you ever exploited a bug or game glitch you knew about to the detriment of other players OR to your unfair advantage?
Let's see... Z-axis bug in EQ in Siren's Grotto, Pathfinding bug in Crystal Caverns (also EQ).
Have you ever used a bot or 3rd party program to level faster or play at longer lengths that otherwise able, and if not, would you ever consider it if it came with a guarantee you would not get caught.
afk bots for WoW, macroing in UO, holding buttons down in RFO, maphacks and looting add-ons in Diablo 2 (battlenet)
Have you ever or would you ever consider using a leveling service to get your character to max - get lots of hard to attain items and/or money?
Actually I have never used a leveling service, I have bought/sold/traded MMO accounts, but I figure the power levelers are probably going to bot my account anyways so why not do it myself.

No to all three I guess I just figure a Mmorpg is like Chess. If you cheat it defeats the purpose of the game which is fun within the bounds of rules which are set for the fairplay of all. People who cheat simply don't, wont or cant conceive of the purpose of morality and ethics in all we do. As a person above so aptly put the game isn't real. To cheat though any time is lousy though
No to first two really. Last one:
Yes, I have considered it. WoW's PvE is so soul-destroying I just wanted to be level 60. But didn't out of the fact (1) it costs (2) exploited labour (3)Might impact other players ingame. No to all three questions. I see no reason to do any of that.
