no, it looks crappy. (to me at least) especially when compared to such games as eq2
I have amnesia- do you know anything about me?
Lo there do I see my father.. Lo there do i see my brothers and my sisters... Lo there do i see the line of my people back to the beginning.... Lo they do call to me, they bid me take place among them in the Halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live forever....
First...I assume you mean do the WoW graphics look cool, not the game as a whole.
The graphics in WoW obviously don't have the new technology behind them that EQ 2 does, but I think WoW's graphics appear to have more of an artistic and fitting appearance for its game then EQ 2 graphics(I have a few beefs with EQ 2 races, but mostly love the graphics). Key word "APPEAR". Some games I have seen screens from just don't do them justice and others make them look better then they are. Movies are great, but never seem to give you the quality and sense of being "in the game" as actually playing the game does.
Anyway, I really like the overall look of the screens and the movies amaze me. I like that WoW stayed "cartoony" in comparison to EQ 2 which is trying to be more realistic in my opinion. I think it was important to long term Warcraft fans to keep a Warcraft appearance to the game which I think they have done very well. The other great thing about the "cartoony" look is that I think it let them do some great looking cities and environments that would otherwise look silly. The colors and everything just seem to be perfect in all the cities, dungeons and outdoor areas that I have seen.
In all, I really like the graphics and think they will help immerse you into the WoW universe.
Beta'd: Neocron, Planetside, ShadowBane, Horizons, City of Heros, Saga of Ryzom, Lineage II

i keep seeing posts like this pop up all over the place and i'm not sure who they are in favor of.
i think (and ive said this in many other threads) that each game has their own unique apperance, and each game will appeal to a differant audience.
like SOE says, eq2 is useing a new state of the art engine to make their grafics look good, but take into account that this is eq2, and their graphics in eq1 are nothing really to be proud of if they were to compair the two. i really do like eq2's new graphics, they really do look real, and for someone that wants a game that looks real to play, that is their game.
with wow, its a little differant. they have kept it cartoony for a reason, like stated before me. it appeals to a differant kind of people. also they are doing it to fit in with the rest of their warcraft series. epople like me, who would prefer something a little more cartoony too look at will really like this game. to me, i want something that is not so real, so that i can escape the so real world for a little bit.
all in all, i have to like the wow style mainly because i am burnt out on the eq graphics, and i want to see a change. this, wow, is that change and i look forward to its launch.
I think the game looks good but not near as good as it could have looked. But remember that while everyone is harping on it, graphics aren't everything.
This is from someone who actually has played the game and not just looked at the screenshots: the graphics are well above average. They wont turn your computer into a turtle or make you run out and buy a nvidia 6800 ultra, but they are far from being an eyesore. The game looks quite beautiful and performs remarkably well.
EQ2 gfx look like crap. I've seen better gfx on Asheron's Call. I dunno wth u guys r talking about

I think WOW is by far the coolest looking MMORPG out there! I love the graphics style, it's so colourful and unique and couldn't be mistaken for anything but World of Warcraft! The character models, the terrain, everything is beautiful! I can't wait till this game comes out.
I much prefer the graphics in WOW to those in EQ2, which in my opinion are very bland and boring, and just looks like simple, stereotypical fantasy RPG type graphics. WOW is where the coolness is at that's for sure!

EQ2 sure has some nice visuals. Why not.. but, it won't run even half-decently on its full graphic settings.
i BET 70% of people will never experience regular gameplay on EQ2's full graphics until a few years down the road.
whereas: WoW isn't the highest of polygons, but has MUCH nicer art than EQ2 ever will have. WoW's art is top notch, and everything 'fits'. it all looks good together. the player models and effects blend in seamlessly with the environment.
EQ2 looks like a try-hard. and a try-hard it is. go ahead, blast eq2's graphic setttings I dare you. 10fps. gg.
edit: when i look at EQ2 videos and screenshots i see bland colours, and an over usage of bump mapping which makes it look pretty stupid.
i think it looks great. personally i prefer those graphics to what eq2 is goign to be. True, WOW looks would problayb mean more to you if you were a longtime warcraft player, but i also just think it allows for a more creative and fun based game.

I agree 100%. Just look at past Warcraft games... Blizzard is sticking with the original formula of Artistic style for Warcraft. Why would they change it? If it looked like anything else, it wouldn't be fully Warcraft.
Wow, vita, i wish i had your experience. I've personally not played many MMO's, but I loved Diablo 1 and 2, and i've never played a bad blizzard game. I loved playing SWG even though I was doomed to a small server and a friend's borrowed accounts. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about WoW and I can't say I've been dissappointed yet. My F5 key is worn out from when I didn't get into the initial round of beta accounts. There was a store near me that offered time playing WoW at exorbitant prices (rather, it was time on their computer, and sometimes the beta testers let you play on the accounts). Unfortunately, the beta testers wouldn't let me play because it was other people's turns. Also, they wouldn't answer my questions because they weren't the nicest people I've ever met. That was where I found out how beautiful the game was, how people could jump (something I hadn't expected, after playing NWN and Diablo), how the undead couldn't speak Common (contrary to what I've read on Worldofwar.net) and how funny the gnomes look dancing. All in all, World of Warcraft is going to own my socks off.
WoW looks good, the only people who disagree are EQ2 fanboys. I'm a WoW fanboy and I still think EQ2 may turn out OK. Be a little less close-minded, K?
Looking at this thread the real question seems to be what has better graphics EQ2 or Wow. The answer is really in the mind of whoever is judging. There are the EQ fans who personally love the realism and wish everything to be as top notch as it can be. (even if it does kill their computer) Then on the other side we have the good ol cartoony WoW. This is a trademark of the Warcraft series. ITs original art. I'm not saying its the best but it is highly original style compared with what the other games are showing. Seeing both I have felt that both games incorporate you whether it be with outmost realism or a cartoony setting that seems "whole."
However I must say that my heart (and money) belong to WoW as I am a huge fan of blizzards work and have always enjoyed the Warcraft series right from the start.
