True, but every play style can't be. If you are playing a mage and this comes out then you don't have an option that feels closer to your play style. Also the real problem is that if they release only one Hero Class then they are just asking for 50%+ of the population to go play one. Yes, I know, "It's going to be hard to unlock one." But it won't be. You have to get to level 80 and do one quest line. It's not like you have to go raid the Planes of Power and bring back the demonic shard to Sauron or anything.
Also, I am a little worried about PvP balance. I am hoping that DK doesn't become an alpha class or else anyone who wants to PvP will have to play one and we'll see even more of them running around.
DKs are a melee/caster hybrid that can tank and dps. Think evil Paladin. That covers quite a few playstyles. And the thing is 50% of the population won't go reroll one, because first you have to get 80 first to do it, and why would you abandon your character you spent all that time into and leveled to 80 to reroll a deathknight? Not everyone is going to, just like not everyone rerolled Blood Elf or Draenei when they came out. It will be a hard quest but a doable one, has everyone done the Netherwing race quest? No, I've personally spent hours attempting it cause it's damn hard and yet to finish it.
PvP will be fine, you have to also look at the fact that all other old classes will be getting new spells and new talents, what's to say that the DK turns out to be underpowered to some of the newly beefed up old classes? We don't know, we'll have to wait and see when it comes out.
I'm just curious. I heard the rumor a while ago, but haven't been following it. Has it been confirmed or denyed that you will start a DK at a higher level like 60 or 70?
Confirmed, they will start between 55-70, known as to exactly what level yet.
I just feel this is a hugely bad idea and Blizzard is using another bandaid to keep subscribers. Are we to see yearly increases to the level cap? Further changes to the skins to resemble more Anime which I personally think is plain rediculous. More new dance routines, yeah that was a great idea because I just won't play WoW unless my Tauren can break dance....
Blizzard, just go ahead and remove the level cap, and create the Monte Hall method of loot drops in that everyone gets everything and put the last nail in WoW's coffin.
WoW isnt dead...jet...and question is when it will die...but as old ppl say "what goes up, it must go down"...i guess its question of gravity ... end of some games are near, some lasted long, some short...i will watch it goes down playing some other game thinking...mmm we told ya...ye we did....
My good friend asked me once do i know what is better than best girl in world......new girl (je its macho bullcrap, he was drunk) but point is that only better thing than best will be something new ^^
We are all chasing that first feeling of something new...mmmm...thats why we think of "our" games that are best...cause we played that first...or you have trolls who played all, had that "first time" rush lasted 1 day then changed game...no game is good for them...
--------------------> Would you like some cheese with that whine?
My point is that you can continue to keep it breathing by pumping pimped ideas from up coming games, raising the level cap again and again, opening new areas which pretty much look like the old areas, etc... BC killed 1-60 progression, you can't get a Strat run to save your life on most of the servers since everyone has headed off to the Outlands, on PvP servers the medium level areas are just ganking grounds for the newly frocked 70's which the intermediate areas were previous to BC and Raiding has become the norm.
Blizzard has abandoned any content upgrades to lessen the need for grouping to make leveling more soloable in the 1-60 range since you can't readily get a group any longer in that zone. The sad fact that most of the Upper level players aren't facing the fact that their newly aquired Epics are once again going to become virtually worthless with the next expansion, and the one after that... etc... I only keep my two accounts since my kids like to play the game and aren't really concerned with leveling up. I can't let them play the game alone since the community has degraded to the point that I have to keep their chat channels disabled. Sure WoW will continue to suck people in and keep the players that think they have too much invested to leave but that day will come. You're right though when ever that day is remains to be seen, but what I see is a company using any cheap trick it can think of to postpone that date.

How did BC kill 1-60 progression? Some of the 58+ dungeons are obselete now, yes. But how is this any different from other MMO expansions? The end game content is slow paced and, dare I use the term, grinding - and that's how it will always be at the end game. The 58-60 content has been replaced by much better TBC content.
And how can you say that the zones look the same as the older zones? I don't want to spoil this for anyone but when you go through the dark portal. TAKE A LOOK AROUND YOU. At the sky, the twisted shatter lands, the NPC battles going on around you, the gigantic creatures roaming around, the PvP objectives... the whole thing is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, it totally outclasses anything in Azeroth. Top this off with good quality music and a good back-story and what more could you possibly want?
What you don't seem to realize, when commenting on people attaining gear that will one day be 'virtually worthless', is that the fun in this game is the journey, not the destination.
You seem extraordinarily bitter about this game. I cannot believe, after the things you've said, about community, about things looking the same that we're playing the same game here.
If Blizzard are guilty of using 'cheap tricks', to keep players subscribe, then everyone else is guilty of this too. Talk about seeing the glass half-empty, geez.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
Yeah, the WoW card game includes special "loot" cards that have little scratch-off bars on them. When you get one of these rare cards and you scratch the bar off, you get a unique code that you use to redeem in Booty Bay. Once that code is used to redeem your loot, that code is used up and it cannot be used by anyone else.
Well the guy has a point, all the players who are on a race for 70 or who are already there have moved off to the Outlands and only come back to the Major cities to trade or out of some sense of nostalgia. I tried to get a Scholo run for one of my Alts all weekend and it never happened so I just went back to my 70 main in the Outlands.
As to the OP of this thread I'm with the pack that thinks that all of the Heros classes should have been brought in at once instead of piecemeal.

Yeah, I'ma hate having to say goodbye to Outlands if the expansion gets out before my guild can make it to BT. Soon Shattrath will be as empty as Stormwind, and Dalaran will be the new hub for the cool kids.
As for the bit about Hero classes..are you insane? Balancing ONE new class is gonna be hard enough...throw in 5-6 at once and it will be chaos.
DKs are a melee/caster hybrid that can tank and dps. Think evil Paladin.
LOL...that wont be so good then, paladins cant tank and they cand DPS :P
Loladins have no use...loladins are in game so that rest of us can lol@them
This shows your ignorance plenty. Paladins are one of the best healers in the game, and also an amazing tank. Very soon Blizzard is improving ret so that they can DPS as well as other classes. And also, I didn't say DKs were Paladins, I said they are similar, just like a Mage is similar to a Warlock.
Now to all of you that are complaining that old instances are obsolete, that Shattrath is going to become deserted come the next X-pac, that all those epics will be useless. You're stupid, plain and simple. This is an MMORPG, do you expect things not to change? What do you expect expansions to add? If you want to play a game that doesn't change, go pick up a console game. This is World of Warcraft, where things change, level caps are raised, new content comes out, new classes that will be different. Like it or get out.

No, we aren't stupid, but you have a very stupid mindset.
Why not a content patch, new stuff to do, no new levels or instances. Why not focus an expansion on guild/player housing? Adding more in game things like fishing (I spent alot of time fishing, it was fun and relaxing).
Point is, a new expansion could focus on giving people more to do, not more to level and grind. Non-combat features (WoW has never had social gear, why not?), things to waste away the time, is a game for fun after all?

If you don't introduce new levels, there isn't that much more to do. All those new zones in Northrend would be useless if not used to level, all those new quests would be useless, instances from 70-80 useless. Housing would be very neat and I'd like to see it happen, but it doesn't make the game hugely better. It would be purely an aesthetic feature. And fishing....zzz
This is World of WARcraft, not World of Fishcraft. I find leveling 58-70 a blast 1-60 is a bore and they're making it go by faster which is wonderful and has me very excited. Leveling in the all new Northrend zones from 70-80 is going to be a blast as well. It took me one week to get from 60-70, and 70-80 is suppose to be the same, if you're whining over one week or even two weeks of leveling in all new zones with new quests and new gear, if all you want to do is sit in a player house or fish, then you need to find a new game.
Blizzard is making this and all new expansions this way, anyone that doesn't like it is free to quit playing because the other 8 million of us will.

"one" meager chain quest line. and they say it is like the warlock chain quest line. so.. check it out here http://www.wowwiki.com/Dreadsteed
it costs hundreds of gold and countless rare crafted items plus dungeons crawling to get that baby.
So yeah, all can do it eventually, but it is not gonna take couple days nor can you do it alone.
