With 3 gig RAM should make it interesting. Also depends on whether you have the 320MB or 640MB version of the GTS and the resolution the game runs in.
CURRENTLY PLAYING SHAIYA
the Graphics card is 320 MB and i have just bought a 19 inch wide from dabs so that will be good meaning screen resolution will be 1440x900
So what do you think
Played: WoW, Guild wars, Eve, SWG, and more
you should be able to go all out with it. we have 1 gts here and no complaints fromt he person using it...he is on Vanguard also. Saikane is his name, if you wanna ask him questions ingame.
is this xp or vista?

no,...you cant upgrade vid ram on the card....
well you could if you had a lintfree environment and a lab to perform the task of adding ram....considering this can inded be done

You can either SLI/Crossfire, with a second vid card, or buy a new one.

you have to buy it

You should look at getting a sound card. Helps take some of the load off the CPU. Creative make the best imo, and a X Fi does me pretty well. Also you can boost speeds by getting a SATA-II 10,000 RPM HDD.

your comp is a dell 9200, isnt it? which shouldnt matter....9200's are extremely close to xps systems. i just cant see how you cant get performance out of Vanguard with a dou..when my kids play on it on the above spec's with blazing colors and nice speed.
weird.
even if it a proprietary equivalent to the XPS or 9200....say HP or something..should still run it fine and fast
weirder still

where's the bottleneck?

Hmm you must be talking poop man, because im running an AMD AM2 6000, 2gb ram (only 533mhz), and a GF8400GS and i get good fps (25+). That is with quality settings with some options off. On performance settings i can get 80fps in the open and 35 or so in cities. Running in high performance you can still turn on other settings to make things look better and still have the performance.
Hopefully once i get SATA drives the loading textures from HDD will increase performance even more..
Edit - my theory is that because vanguard is so massive (17gb), you will need ALOT of ram and a decent hdd to load all those textures to your gfx card, so gfx memory i dont think is the problem as long as it is about 256mb.
prolly several probs.
services?
background app's?
drivers?(such as omegadrivers.net type)
dunno.
he shouldn't have any probs.

You can either SLI/Crossfire, with a second vid card, or buy a new one.
SLI mirrors your memory and isn't increasing the total memory size, Im not sure about Crossfire but I think it mirrors memory as well.So no use going SLI/Crossfire to increase the memory, if you really want more ram on your GPU buy a new one.

Ah I see, good to know, ta.

One thing that's been consistent, the performance isn't . Some folks with very good systems claim to have bad performance, and some folks with mediocre systems swear they are getting 70 fps in town... (they are lying btw).
Is this due to each players tolerance for slower performance, or is it because players experiences have varied even when they had simliar rigs?
Who knows...what matters is will it run on your rig...so go give the game a try and quit bothering the folks here if you don't like their answers....

If one already has a PC which can run the latest games such as Oblivion and the upcoming Bioshock game then the only thing that will make VG run faster is when SOE iron out and optimise the code for a good range of hardware. Other than that ye takes yer chances.
Its a well known fact this game received little or no testing and hates modern hardware like 8800 (this point may have changed.. may). M$ was going to do it in there labs but since they pulled out because VG wasnt being worked on efficiently. I beleive there is a quote saying somewhere that one person worked on QA and testing. But meh its been around so if anyone wants to challenge this go search the forums. (The supporters of VG were all on holiday that week it seems).
In the end I wouldn't upgrade for this game just upgrade as you would for other titles ( or not at all) and wait for the free trial to answer very specific questions such as "Can I run it on full settings?". *
* Additional thought. Be careful of the free trial as I have heard rumors that performance wil be better in the trial than the fullgame, though SOE say they will move things learned here to the full game. Sound very beta like for me....
Intel C2D 6600, 2GB RAM, GF8800 GTS 640, High quality with some settings downgraded (such as shadows to 21%, looks the same as with 99%)
Outside 30-70 fps, with exceptions like skawlra rock where rate is down to 10-20 fps, with occasional slideshow
cities around 25 fps
GU2 didn't improve anything for me, I just get occasional CTDs now, where I didn't have any before. bad luck it seems.
If i got dual CPU would that help, cos i got quite a good one now, getting a new one could really help!
Could it?
