Items will be so cheap in darkfall there will be no worries. And blacksmiths dont have to worry cause these items will be in so much demand they'll be too busy making it to worry about making profit.
I just hope they have something like in SWG that you can actually hire blacksmiths to make items for you so that way you can get more production done quicker.....somethng for the sieges ya know?
Where do they say what the prices are on items? I think before the same people who scream "prove it!" to any dissenting comment about DF start making assumptions of their own they need to take a long hard look at their old posts. You have no proof on what the prices let alone the crafting, item stats, or banking system will be like... how can you claim anything you said to be true?
Just trying to keep the standard the same for both the haters and the fan boys or is that not allowed?
yeah it will be free because we can kill each other and full loot. Will be free for the vets and expensive for the suckers. I'm no one's punk in anygame I play I know I'll be taking what's mine while the noobs plan for failure
so many of you haters are from WAR forums dont think we dont know u guys agenda we're not stupid

he's right I've checked your forum history you're a straight up WAR carebear why are you here anyway. All you ever do is call this game 'vaporware' I just wish people would stop trolling so hard. This game will release one day and regardless there is no way you gonna play it especailly since you claim to be in WAR beta lol

As much as I'd like to see this game come out, I'll call it vaporware until I see actual real progress..such as beta beginning like they said it would over 2 years ago. Until then its just a bunch of hype.
Word of advice..don't burn yourself out following any unreleased game with fanboi like zeal..you will just set yourself up for dissapointment.

Do your own bit of research. They said themselves, basic items used in fighting will be extremely cheap to make. Its when you want to add magical attributes or even the highest tier of armor/weapons that will be difficult. Such as the dragon scale armor (yeah i wonder what we have to kill and retrieve to make that).
So before you go on one of your "Im so logical im gonna prove these guys wrong just because they have a 109 IQ" please do your own bit of research
And btw logic would tell you, if they expect you to die alot, they wouldnt make it so difficult to restock, especially since this game is built in UO's image. Good day.
*EDIT* Btw since they also stated you can hire npcs to go out and get resources that you need thats also another reason why it'll be so easy to make those basic items.
*EDIT2* woooo damn im just being a busy body today arent i
Take a good hard look at the map and just think of how many times they stated its a pretty darned big map. Now think of how many places there are on the map that you MIGHT be able to get the basic necessities of goods by just rumaging around and chopping down trees. Now take that and think of getting a hut in the furthest corner of your species territory that you can just hire npcs (just think you could share huts between accounts and have multiple smithing accounts since they said they would limit npc hireables to just common players *around*[meaning can be changed at any time higher or lower] whereas the guild leaders will have a higher usage of hireables stemming from fighters to just pretty little kitties if they do so allow NOW say you took those 10 hireables for this arguement just 1 player and you put them in the furthest place imagineable that only a pirate could bombard them with missiles. That in those few weeks they might be able to turn out a considerable amount of armorments (yeah sp me i dare you). just htink if you had enough space to put all the resources (if infact you arent an idiot at manageing the money and able to set up some sort of stock area) that you could have a macro sit there for countless hours juts making certain items, or lets say that htey have something like swg and you just have a big box making wierd noises turning out 10k of certain items.

I see pointless blustering but not much proof. You have nothing that shows any of the things you mentioned in the game. Frankly we have no idea what the crafting system will be like or what the resource gathering system will be like. You also assume quite a bit that other "crafters" will not be in those same areas and fighting you for the resources which would greatly impact your production and cost. Since you can supposedly build anywhere guilds will set up defense points in these remote areas as we have seen in SB. Please come back when you can show any shred of evidence before questioning mine. I have already pointed out the few references to item pricing have not come from the Devs themselves but rather assumptions based on released material that had nothing to do with item pricing.
As to your poor grammar, spelling, no sources of information... If you feel strong enough to post... take the extra minute or two and at least do it right. You only hurt your own credibility with this kind of crass swipe with no basis. If you would like to personally attack me feel free but at least show proof where I have lied and made up words. I think it comical you try to attack my spelling and grammar in a post so riddled with both it is painful to read. Please feel free to continue.

Ah... just what I would expect from a DF fanboy. The precision and thoroughness in your research blows me away. You skim through a few of my posts and make blind assumptions without reading anything. If you took the time to check my thread history to make personal attacks at least take the time to do it right. If you had bothered to actually read any of my posts you would see the following.
1) I have stated repeatedly this game is not vaporware. I think it will be a mess when released and is akin to shadowbane.
2) I have played both AC darktide and Shadowbane for several years... hardly carebear servers/games.
3) I have criticized WAR and brought up concerns about development.
4) I have said DF is a great concept... where I differ from fanboys is my lack of faith that Aventurine can deliver what they promise.
Now you have all the information you need in my profile to see if those statements are lies. Let me know when you have proof... I am guessing you won't find any. Do I like WAR, yes I like the RvR aspect of it. I also think there are great concerns with player/skill customization, item dominance, and the level centric PvP. That is what you people don't get... I question everything... more so for the games I like... being blind to the issues that affect a game serves no purpose. You can like a game and still question it something several people on the DF board need to realize. I LOVE the concept of DF... the chances that a small independent company with obvious issues (no QA team, no publisher) is remote at best. Vague generalizations by the Devs does not lend itself to optimism either. Please feel free to continue the personal attacks. Just actually do the research instead of pretending.

There is no concrete evidence supporting that is or is not a crappy game. Since no one has played the game no one can say that its the greatest game nor the worst game.
While other games development have similarites there are only few from what was said. A cat and a dog share similar traits but you cant accurately predict a cat's actions from watching a dog.
If you believe its crappy then go ahead and believe that.

I have to say Questionable this is one of your most reasonable posts I have ever read. I don't agree with the cat and dog analogy... maybe 2 different types of cats would be more accurate but again fair statements.
You are correct there is no evidence to either argument and that is the fundamental problem here. After several years the cry of vaporware and other concerns has only been growing. I would think that a company looking to have a successful release could take the time to dispel some of these rumors on both sides. Do you think it is unreasonable to ask them for a more specific update to appease the growing concern about this game? The sides have become so polarized that it is more rhetoric then fact in half of these threads.
I hold great hope for a game like DF and eventually one will be released. I do not hold out hope for Aventurine to be the company to do it... only time will tell. I would be one of the first to reverse my position if Aventurine could show the game is more then generalizations and wishful features.

dont worry the loot drop will be changed at least on a few servers... i guarantee (even though the darkfall fanbois don't think so) *wink*
probably will either have gear thats insurable - so while you drop it you will be able to replace it via the insurance
or you will probably be able to bind a certain amount of items - so while you drop some stuff .. it wont be all.
just you watch if this game is release, it will start pure hardcore but then after 6 months to a year it will add a server with less hardcore rules and thats when you will see a major spike in players.
they already said on their forums there will not be a pussified version ever of Darkfall so sorry to disappoint the carebears its there in like bold text
they already said on their forums there will not be a pussified version ever of Darkfall so sorry to disappoint the carebears its there in like bold text
heh. i'd bet money in a few months they will add a carebear server.
unless ofcourse they make 100K+ subscriptions.
devs have been known to changes their stances on things before.
they already said on their forums there will not be a pussified version ever of Darkfall so sorry to disappoint the carebears its there in like bold text
lawl so gullible ... i have a bridge to sell you by the way.
if you don't think if they knew they could double thier subscription base by adding a less hard core server then you Pkers are dumber than i thought.
(mind you the subscriptions of UO greatly increased when they released trammel right? )
if they wanted to mass appeal they'd make an PVE game like LOTRO in the first place or go pussified RVR like WAR they al;ready guaranteed no carebear servers thats all there is to it nothing much to say on that one
Roma Victor said they would have full looting too. Then at the last minute changed it to you only lose one item.

They did not guarantee anything... They merely made a statement to appease the fan base. Vajuras you have stated you work in console game development before... You should know that what a Dev says one week can change in the next. If you were on a sinking boat and you had sworn never to swim... would you rather drown or break that oath?
The fact is you don't know just like the rest of the people here. Both sides have merit but until the game is released those sides are based on conjecture no facts.

Perhaps they will do it when they can finalize their plans but I dont know. No its not unreasonable but many people ask alot of things to see so which one do you pick? Yea but does it really surprise you?
Whether DF will be the first one to become one of the successful games to break from the norm is something we'll find out once it releases.
if they wanted to mass appeal they'd make an PVE game like LOTRO in the first place or go pussified RVR like WAR they al;ready guaranteed no carebear servers thats all there is to it nothing much to say on that one
Roma Victor said they would have full looting too. Then at the last minute changed it to you only lose one item.
From what i know they also tried keeping all equipped items and losing everything else.
So will getting good drops or saving crafting materials be worthless? How mad would you be if you just spent all day gathering materials then finding and paying a crafter to make you new pants only to have them looted from you 10 minutes later. Wouldn't this be more frustrating than fun? I mean how much fun could it be making sure you have 10 bags full of back up armor in the bank?!
In this game gear won't make or break your character. If the items were as powerfull as in WoW it would be absolutely crazy to play the game.
So a good rule is to wear what you can afford to loose. And it's a fps style game, no random numbers are going to tell if you hit or miss, only your skill with a mouse and keyboard.
And also, remember that the threat of loosing gear is just as real to your attacker...
Edit: One more thing, make friends and travel in groups. 1st rule of FFA PvP games.
Not only will gear be of little concern, but also that gear is quite simple to come across. I heard that the crafting system is very simple and the yield is very nice in the end.
So to basically sum up, don't worry about your gear because it can be stashed if you want to hold onto it and that it's not that difficult to create in case it is taken.
"I refuse to prove that I exist" says God. "For proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing..."
Thing is I assumed the Darkfall developers were sort of like our team. Trying to fill the 'gap' and follow real life. when you focus on player skill over dice rolls- then Gear is not really factored into the equations. all gear, I assumed, would be viable in Darkfall like how we planned. Pirates of Burning Sea also proposes this too
A thief might have use for a dagger always (throwing, stabbing, light weapon so their still agile). A warrior might have use for a sword (cost more stamina to swing, does more damage)
that is the misunderstanding.
when you offer skill based progression- that is your progression. Games like WoW need Gear. Because they must have a level cap for friends to play together on yet- offer infinite progression. Well, skill based nails that stone
of course skill based includes other issues. Its a trade off. but for PVP we of course believe skill based is vastly superior
I posted our concept at Developer's Corner. but dont get too excited about our project please its in early stages. Its just a concept and ideas that we hope to get implemented

not sure why I hate WAR so much and when it happened. I suppose it will have its strong points im sure. I just wish we'd see more PoTBS, more DFs, more SoR (ryzom). it just sucks to see all this made endless cash get pumped into WAR and see the 'virtual worlds' get the shaft
I suppose its not Mythic's fault and its not their fans fault for following the WAR title it does look pretty interesting.
but DF is more of my style. even if it was not FFA I'd still be all over this guy. it really doesnt matter if they have a PVE server at all I just want this thing to come out
someone on DF forums just asked would there be alternate ruleset servers for role playering, PVE, and such a staff member posted and said there is just plans for one ruleset. There for sure are no plans for alternate rule sets
so take that trolls. back to DF forums for me. this site part of this site is just too badly overrun with people that got nothing else better to do with their day then makeup fairy tales.

Indeed, these forums are treacherous, if anyone wants to know true information about Darkfall, go to its offical forums, over half of the posts people make here are lies.
Darkfall is not for carebears, there are plenty of carebear games out there please dont waste your time trying to change darkfall. Its the last bastion for hardcore MUDers, ex-UO, EvE and other adhrenaline junkies. I will enjoy inflicting pain on others in that game just as they will enjoy inflicting pain on me. Being near death will make you sweat, dying will make you cry, and killing will make you feel like you just knocked out Mike Tyson. I can't wait, nothing since MUDs will come close to this game.
ummm.. i liked UO and EVE as much as the next guy, and enjoyed the rush from PvP too, but calling people that dig it "adrenaline junkies" is going a bit far.. we arent jumping off things here..

probably will either have gear thats insurable - so while you drop it you will be able to replace it via the insurance
or you will probably be able to bind a certain amount of items - so while you drop some stuff .. it wont be all.
just you watch if this game is release, it will start pure hardcore but then after 6 months to a year it will add a server with less hardcore rules and thats when you will see a major spike in players.
they already said on their forums there will not be a pussified version ever of Darkfall so sorry to disappoint the carebears its there in like bold text
heh. i'd bet money in a few months they will add a carebear server.
unless ofcourse they make 100K+ subscriptions.
devs have been known to changes their stances on things before.
*looks at vanguard*
Thoughts on full looting:
1. Don't get killed. Learn to run and run fast.
2. Yes you can lose all in a moment, but then you can gain all in a moment too.
if you don't think if they knew they could double thier subscription base by adding a less hard core server then you Pkers are dumber than i thought.
(mind you the subscriptions of UO greatly increased when they released trammel right? )
if they wanted to mass appeal they'd make an PVE game like LOTRO in the first place or go RVR like WAR
they al;ready guaranteed no carebear servers thats all there is to it nothing much to say on that one
edit- edited for politcal correctness
You mean... If only it could release... Period.
What deserves to be done, deserves to be "well" done...
The fact is you don't know just like the rest of the people here. Both sides have merit but until the game is released those sides are based on conjecture no facts.

From what i know they also tried keeping all equipped items and losing everything else.
I heard that the crafting system is very simple and the yield is very nice in the end.So to basically sum up, don't worry about your gear because it can be stashed if you want to hold onto it and that it's not that difficult to create in case it is taken.
Just actually do the research instead of pretending.
not sure why I hate WAR so much and when it happened.
Indeed, these forums are treacherous, if anyone wants to know true information about Darkfall, go to its offical forums, over half of the posts people make here are lies.
ummm.. i liked UO and EVE as much as the next guy, and enjoyed the rush from PvP too, but calling people that dig it "adrenaline junkies" is going a bit far.. we arent jumping off things here..
