As soon as I updated the game ...I turned the video settings up to extreme quality to see what the peeps on these boards were bragging about. The game looked ok at best...
I started with a wizzard on AB(people here say it's the most populated server)Started in Faydwer. The art ,sound  and graphisc are ok.The queste are quite uninteresting.Ok ,so I got him to 17 with little to no grouping since people either ignore when I ask them to group.Got in a guild with mostly friendly people.Problem is I somehow feel this game has a lot to offer...but I can't just get to it . Explored some other zones like BB,SS,Lower faydark...again the areas seem a little pale so I decided to ask some peeps around and make a trip to Qeynos.I decided to take the long and dangerous way as a lowbie trought BB ...then to TS via a ship. When I reached TS I went woa. This looks just like Anarchy online (im exagerating..Im referring to the fact that theres a lot of nothing). So I reach qeynos, try to find a group almost each night, and I failed.Once I got a group for WC...whatever that is.So,being a newb ...I asked ..."How do I get there"  The only thing the peeps could answer was LOL.Such encounters are rare even on WoW ...and im playing that since early 05.
I tried rerolling ...other classes, freeport, darklight wood, pvp servers where  I got ganked like crasy by twinks.
To sum it all up...the game seems mediocre at best ...and I kinda regret buying it  for the second time.(Tried it at launch but it ran like hell on my old pc)
What could I possibly do in order to get bang for my buck .?

Okay,, this guy is lying.  He has not even played EQ2.  Most of the zones he is talking about are EverQuest zones.. not EQ2.  You do not travel through BB to get to Qeynos and there is no ship to TS.  If he had played EQ2 he would have said he used the bell to get to TS and traveled through Antonica to Qeynos, but he did not say that.

You need to stay in the WoW forums and stop trying to put down EQ2.   At least play the game before you put it down.

Um... Mr. Kasmar you must not have played yourself -- or least not since the release of the Fey expansion.

You most certainly do run from GFEY through BB to the docks that can take you over on a boat to either Nek or TS (depending on the boat you board).

Like I said all people have to do is download the 7 day trial, log on to any servedr other than Antonia Bayle and judge for themselves the newbie population. The game is dieing D-I-E-I-N-G, get over it. SOE needs to merge some servers andr lieing to peoplwe telling them the game has a million subs. I bet it is less than 150 K now and gets smaller by the day.

By the way the only game that LoTRO seems to be hurting really bad is EQII. Might as well say my entire guild of 50 people moved over from EQII to LoTRO, on the othher hand the WoW players did not seem to care for it. Makes sense too that the SOE shills would be flaming LoTRO. WOW has 9 Million players a few hundred thousand won't hurt them. However with EQII even a hundred K leaving would be more than half of the entire player base.

It takes only a couple hours of play to hit level 20, of course the newbe population is small.  Try to put at least a little thought before spouting…

Sony usually puts SOE’s subscription numbers in it’s annual report and it’s been holding steady at just under 700K.  Are you saying there is some magical rise in EQ1&SWG sups offsetting your imaginary decline in EQ2 subs?

I got to 70 in eq2 , after getting bored of wow.
I than got 2 level 50's in lotro and got really bored.
I now purchased the anniversary edition of EQ1.

I"M LOVING IT! EQ1 is by far the best pve mmorpg. by far.

eq2 i didn't like. i actually despized it,and played because wife thought it was ok.

If you want a pve or tradeskills game try EQ. If you want a pvp game play Wow.
That's just the way it is. My opinions but 8 years of mmorpg.

I can't take anyone seriously that says EQ 2 graphics on Max are just "ok" when they come from WoW. Sorry, try again.

Have you got a link to this alleged report?  EQII never had 700K at release let alone now. Most reports put it at less than 450K  at it's peak which was the spring after release. It has just been going down hill since and is well overdue for more server merges. I doubt if SOE has 700 K subscriptions combined with all of it's games.  Like I keep saying all anyone has to do is DL the trial , make a character on any server other than Antonia Bayle and check. EQII is top heavy as heck. No fun for newbies at all. The game is dieing boys, nothing new and wasn't all that even at release. All the game ever had going for it was pretty graphics and LoTRO has surpassed it there even.

i think he menas 700k total throughout their games, which doesnt seem unatainable considering how mnay they have currently.

eq1 and 2 probably have 400-500k of that between them alone, and vanguard likely has around 50k.

I didn’t say EQ2 had 700K I said SOE had 700K.  I also said very specifically it’s in Sony’s annual report, if you know what an annual report is you won’t need help finding it, if you don’t finding it probably will not do you any good.

Unlike some other games BTW these are all monthly paid subscriptions.  They are primarily spit between EQ1, EQ2 and SWG.  Any idiot would realize the number can’t be holding stable if all three games are loosing subs, so if EQ2 is loosing subs which game is gaining them to allow total subs to remain constant, EQ1 or SWG?

As I already said it takes less then 2 hours to reach level 10 and about 5 to reach level 20.  In addition there are a fixed number of characters per account.  This means you don’t have many alts at these levels and because people level past them so quickly you just are not going to see that many people at low levels.  This says nothing about the overall population of the game.

The battles in LoTR is boring. If you want a game with magic in it and a bit of flair you cant go past EQ2 in the current MMO market. Aside from the first few months after release, the introduction of the new newbie isle / instant class choices and EoF there have never been many players in the 1-20 bracket. You get to level 20 in less than 4 hours. There are plenty of players to group with between 20 and 70 however. I am currently leveling up an alt Fury and have not had any issues getting groups for any level. Theres nothing really to group for in 1-20, its just the levels that you get accustomed to using your avatar. Once you hit 20 you shouldnt have any issues getting a Stormhold, Crushbone Keep or Fallen Gate group. Id say the game is more mid-heavy, with most players having a number of alts at all different levels.
