I dont know. People always seem to favor the "good" side. Personally, i have run high end 8 man on DAoC, but i also like the "pretty" races/classes. High Elf Archmage ftw?

Umm, in WoW Alliance outnumbers Horde. 1.3:1. The 2 most popular classes are the Human and Night Elf both belonging to Alliance. Blood Elf is third, which has helped even out the sides a bit. The ugliest and meanest, which I consider Orc and Troll are the two least played races. Not sure why you are thinking peolpe choose the biggest, meanest, ugliest toons, when the evidence says otherwise.
I also suspect your assumptions in VG are probably just as wrong.
Maybe because Warhammer baddies look bad and not just dumb.

I've said it before in these threads: In WAR, the draw will be individual races, I believe. In WoW, you usually choose a faction, THEN a race. In WAR, each race is so fleshed out and has it's own style/culture, that players will choose a race regardless of faction. In WoW, most of a race's "feeling" and style were just based off of their horde/alliance allegiance.
I'd like to clearify: I made this thread because this and other WAR forums were filled with threads that gave an overwhelming feeling of people praising the Destruction side far above Order.
I wasn't the only one, soon after Dominia made a similair thread siting other reasons why Destruction may outbalance Order. And what I find interesting is that in both threads I see alot of:
"I think people will play Order because they like being the hero....though I personally will play Dest."
"I think poeple will play Order because they look sexier....though I will be a goblin squig herder"
"People will play Order because ______ .... though I'm set on Destruction"
I just thought that in a game that was PvP centric, it was important to bring up this disturbing pattern. I also wanted to ask that the people who have a talent for PvP try considering joining Order, since they almost always drawn to the ''evil'' side.
Lastly, I'd like people to stop using WoW as an example for why people chose the good side. WoW has the same classes for both factions and the armor is the same for both factions. Its apples and oranges. I used WoW as an example of being outnumbered by ''evil'' in the past, especially when it came to players who PvP'ed.

You played WoW and you say something like that? Almost every server i played horde on had 500% more alliance then horde i don't know what your smoking, And alliance were mostly filled with little kid night elfs ugly.....

I think they are putting a heap of hype and publicity on the chaos/destruction forces because they want to make sure the forces are about equal. People usually tend to go for the good guys as they are beautiful, majestic, and righteous which is absolutely fine IMO. Not *as* many people go for the evil guys, so it doesn't hurt to point out that the evil guys have their own things going for them. Looks and bragging rights are a big factor in peoples decisions in MMOGs from what I have seen and done myself.

Not to point out the obvious but that "pretty race" of human's really isn't pretty. I really hope that there are a vast number of face / hair options or something more sophisticated for character customization, because the way things are looking so far it's elf or elf if you want a pretty character. Sure it's entirely subjective, but given a lot of the absolutely beautiful artwork in the Warhammer lore, admittedly Brettonian is better, the grumpy frumpy thing for humans is really not going to sell me on this game - 100000 vs 9.
i dont mind the 10000:1 ration as long as there is enought greenskins to point my guns at (witches will do the job as well)

Alot off people actual claims that nearly all MMORPGss with a "good" and and "evil" side does have more followers and the evil side - prerelase, and more on the good side after release.
The Reasons for that is often searched after by stating reasons like looks , the hero theory, roleplaying aspects, noobs and kids, parents as opposed to elite, hardcore gamers, weird online freaks with evil intent.
But the basic mecanism of it all is that the PvE play experience is you (and a few friends) going up against hordes of monsters (And even better aginst all odds) and then coming out victorius. Thats the story of "The GOOD" in all movies, adventures, roleplaying, games and fantasy ! So PvE players tend to be on the good side.
Spoiling something others have made, ganKing, stealing , being 3 against 1, having fun on others expense, looking forward to beat the crap out of someone, joining the winners and leave your friends behind. Thats the story of the "EVIL"!
I am not sure why hardcore gamers are on the evil side, but i think thats something to do with being attracted by the Honesty about what part of PvP is about. Being dirty, beat the living ... out of somebody, having fun, and GOING to WAR just for the fun of it. I mean there is not a noble purpose involved in playing a computer games, so why pretend to be good !
BUT anyway it actual doesn't matter who will outnumber each other as some one will ! And the general experience about online games is that " winner joiners" outnumber "Looser joiners" keeping an unbalance, instead of even it out. Back is what tools will game developers use to make it a very nice game experience for everybody anyway!And that is the really interesting question, because no matter what we all expect the best RvR game if we are up against an even opponent. But that belongs in another thread !
I seriously dont think there will be a huge problem in any way. I dont think the devs. will let one side be big enough to ruin the game for the opposite side in any way. Like the Bloodelfs "kinda" evened up the odds for WoW, something is bound to happen "IF" there will be a balance issue in WAR. (Doubt it)
I played alliance for dwarfs....Im playing order for dwarfs. I will be playing order, and Im going to let you all know that Order WILL end up having more people than destruction. Im not just joking around, but I also hate to rain on everyones parade with WoW:
Most of the people I met on alliance where over 20, and I had my own vent server, so there was voice confermation. Most of the people on horde were....like 15-17....barrens chat? all the evidence is against you, just go through Org and take a look, I promise you, its mostly children. It's just that most "hardcore" players like playing the "underdog", even though horde had better racials AND generally won BGs. But I guess you have some evidence or something, right? You wouldn't happen to just be subscribing to a large online myth that horde is more mature (it still makes me laugh when I say that).
I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, The dreams in which I'm dieing are the best I've ever had.
I've been following WAR online for only a few months now, and so far I can't find anything about the game that I don't like. But the more I read the forums and watch the podcasts the more I realize whats going to happen: A whole lot of Destruction vs. very few Order. My MMO experience is limited to WoW and Vanguard and something similair happened in both cases. Everyone wants to be the evil ugly guys. And its going to be much worse for WAR because Desctruction is so much uglier and evil....er. Plus the Devs themselves in the podcasts can't stop talking about how sweet the greenskins and chaos are going to be (especially the brittish guy with sunglasses) and the poll on this forum shows the top 3 race choices to be the 3 Desctruction races! (mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm) Thats about as unbalanced as you can get. If this were any other MMO I wouldnt even bring it up, I really didnt care in WoW or VG, but this is a PvP centric game. How much fun will it be on either side when its 3 to 1 or whatever. I just thought I'd implore the people (especially the good players) to give Order another thought. When the servers go live and people see that its 100000 to 10 its usually the weak who switch sides to balance it (counterstrike experience ) Edit: I forgot to mention this guy only-war.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php who praises a Descrution class as not only the best in the game but the best in any MMO hes ever played. I probably could spend all day pointing to articles praising the Destruction classes. I should ask the EA Mythic guys to make Order immortals or give them a higher level cap.
Honestly though, they are just overhyping Destruction. Mythic has no intention of creating a game and meaning to make one side much stronger than the other.
I think the number of people that are going to want to play Warrior Priests will balance it all out. Ok, joking aside, it's hard to tell at this point. Non-hard corps types tend to go to the pretty races which are going to be the High Elves and the Humans. Just my 2¢.
Really? your serious here, It's hard to tell at this point that the game is imbalanced, hmmm, yah ok...anyways, the "cool factor" just isn't on the order's side, and like the OP said he's right, it's very, very imbalanced mythic, it's gonna get ugly, not only is it imbalanced in terms of player numbers on dest. But, if you go into the Destro discussion forums, you don' t hear a whole lotta complaining about the classees overthere exceptp maybe for the SH, but if you go over to the order combat discussion, oh boy........
