heh, That Orc choppa harvested the two Priest of Sigma pretty fast in the end of the film clip. On a sidenote I dislike that techno/posh music there was used in the film.
Fixed the link for you
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

Looks like a good pace of combat.
Btw, just for the record, I believe the only good Greenskin is a dead Greenskin.
But ... we'll deal with that in February.

I will beat da bejesus outta you, stupid human! Orcs will rule da world!!!
PS That choppa wasnt bad but his opponents were noobs. BTW he was healed badly, and I've heard there wont be any heal bots in WAR...
Looks like WoW...
Which is to say alot of ppl will probably like it
You mean the guy who runs around in circles the most wins?
How is this not exactly like Warcraft?
You can't pass through enemy players, there wasn't any bunny hopping in the video, and the more you run around someone the lower your chance to hit. So people can run in circles if they want but they won't be doing very much.
If you'd read up on the game mechanics you would know this.
Tis' true.. Although IMO WoW was a step backwards gameplay wise it did highlight a lot of 'dos and don'ts' for MMORPGs, WAR is one of those 'step forwards' in combat and a lot of other areas on paper look to be improvements on the 'cookiecutter' MMO hopfully..That said WAR isn't WoW-2, it's Warhammer Fantasy Online, TBH, no offence to anyone here and this isn't aimed at anyone, if your trying to compear any game to anyother game IMO your looking for excuses no to play it, each game is it own game and there will be a lot out soon..
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
That was a constructive post sir! what did you expect how it would look like?
With time you will get out of living in denial, you will accept that for the last 2 years of your life you have payed Blizzard for a cheap rip-off.. don't worry abotu all that lost time. Anyway we shall see you in WAR once you get there.

Reading be damned, I'm reporting on what I saw in that video. The guy that ran around in circles won because the other guy couldn't keep up with that. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be even better.

Of course, it could just be that the circler is an ex-wow player and is simply used to doing that (and doesn't know there is a penalty for it). As for the guy who can't keep up - people too slow to do that will lose in any game. Because they're poor players.
I think this is a case of a rubbish player being beaten by a slightly less rubbish player - about what you'd expect in a beta really.
WaR may have many nice things going for it, but I am still far from impressed as hyped as it is.
It doesnt look like WoW, it's just played by wower. As to look WoW pvp looks much better so far.
And to those who dont like to move. Moving is a crucial point in any good combat game. And in RL. Moving is a life, standing still is a death... WoW is a good combat game (there are even WoW cybersport tournaments, you know), and WAR... Perhaps it's gonna be good for cocky roleplayers (I really know this type of people - got 10 years pen and paper RPG experience myself), but as to average MMORPG players, they will chose an action...
Real life melee combat with medieval European weapons and armour would not feature running around your opponent constantly swinging. That would be a quick fire route to death, moving and swinging weapons in real life is exhausting you know. Ofcourse you would have to move but not the way it is with WoW.
And in my opinion WAR's PvP already looks better than WoW's, collision detection is a vast improvement on WoW's players running through ech others body's to interrupt spells and break line of sight. The Atmosphere looks and sounds better aswell with the sound effects, the explosians look awesome with the dirt flying into the air, the engineers gun firing sounds great aswell.
WoW's PvP is just an attempt to implement Unreal Tournament and Quake Arena style fighting without the ability to dodge (although i have seen many players attempt to dodge attacks.....sigh).
Yes, from the videos so far, WAR's PvP looks far superior to anything out there ATM in the MMORPG realm. People who are testy about spellcasters being stationary while casting just have to look at it in practical terms. Casting spells is a mental task, not a physical one. Casting while running would be the equivalent of doing your taxes while you're flying a plane. Sure, it's not impossible, but you wouldn't be doing an effective job of either doing both simultaneously. Also, heavily armored combatants SHOULD not be hopping around like bunnies. Even as early as pen-and-paper D&D, people clad in plate and heavy mail were encumbered by their armor and could not move as quickly as those clad in cloth or leather. This, on top of the fact that wizards won't be jumping around spamming AOEs and DPS classes won't have get-out-of-jail-free cards like stealth easy button mode ensure that the PvP in WAR should be much more balanced and require a lot more strategy than the current button-mashing and spamming that ensures victory in many of today's titles.I'm really hoping they don't cripple your ability to hit when you are moving, that seems a bit silly. I want to be running around the place hacking people at 100mph, trying to evade people targeting me, getting behind them out of their FOV. It actually gives you something to DO apart from just pressing number keys. When I played WoW (heh, only got to 35 before I got sick of it) the PvP was always very boring until I saw my mate play it (ie. running about). Suddenly PvP was this fast paced game where you were constantly on the move, running, hitting spells, quickly running out of range, running back in. It was great!
Granted bunny hopping is a bit dumb, but it's not like it makes much difference anyway, so I'll be happy if there is none of that in WAR. But as far as circle strafing, I don't see what's so bad about it.
Duh, never said wow moving is similar to RL. Just said you gotta move not stand still. In RL combat moving is much more sophisticated than in any game - dont tell me this, I know it myself. but in any good combat game you gotta move like this game takes. So in Q3 you gotta move quakish, in UT - utish, in WoW - WoWish. But I havent seen any WARish moving in WAR so far. Or sooner it's standing still that is WARish...
My hands are freezing. But, the video is great! WAAAGH!
Hehe, I know what that "positional attack" meant in DAoC. Just the same as I see now in WAR - standing still and shooting/hitting anyone who comes close enough... Especially it was right for casters...
More or less. But what is more important WoW moving takes skill. The better you move the more chances you got... like it is in any good combat, virtual or real.
I hate to say it, but Harg is right...
The bunny hopping and running in circles was annoing, in WoW it became an effective tactic to confuse and get into a appropriate position to attack an opponint.
But i still hated it because I have vertigo and the movement made me nausous.
While movement in combat is necessary in real life, how many times have you seen someone run around in circles about their opponent? The two may circle each other, like in a knife fight, but your nor just going to run around or hop over your opponent repeatedly, in real life that would subject you to attacks of oppertunity.
Collision will make the 'ring around the rosies' go away. Its just an annoying tactic thats pretty much cheating.
In this game you may get off that backstab but your sure as hell going to have a hellava time getting off another on the same opponent...
And any of you here ever play EQ1 and fight a Bard? ..... I have traumatic flashbacks of the one time I did.
I had a paladin and he could not beat me, so he just ran around me at superspeed for almost an hour trying to dot me to death, eventually I just gave up when I threw up twice from the constant movement ....
Ring around the rosies is for 4 year olds and those with strong stomachs not MMOs !
Yeah the combat does look just like WoW. WoW with collision detection and RvR. It's not a bad thing. I don't see how an unbiased person doesn't think the PvP looks like WoW with new skins.
Well, I can tell you what way caster vs melee will look in WAR. Melee will close and try to get oos, but caster wont be a moron and he'll know he can't cast while moving. So he'll just turn around to face his opponent. All in all melee will understand that he cant get oos and he's got a penalty to his hits while moving so he'll stop his running too. So they both will stand still and hit each other - it'll look just great, i'd say (exactly like it looks right now in WAR vids). Really what all those "hard core MMORPGers" are dreaming on...
Yep, and this is exactly what will make or break WAR for me. Imagine it, 15 players on either side ready to attack, the orcs and dwarves then charge at each other. All the player smash into each other....then...everyone stops. The battlefield is still as everyone stands on their spot and take turns hitting each other.
"111111222221311" the player presses. Then you win or lose. Oh what fun! They move over to the next player.
"111111222221311. " the player presses. Then you win or lose.
"111111222221311. " the player presses. Then you win or lose. Wow, this totally isn't repetitive!
Perhaps we will all get super lucky and everyone is assigned an X to stand on. You dont actually need to even be near the other army, they just stand on their side on X's too. Everyone spams the number keys and a winner is decided. Man, this is going to ROCK.
Seriously, not moving or running in ANY PVP GAME IS GROUNDS FOR UTTER BOREDEM. The main reason WAR looks boring as hell at the moment is because two guys just stand there going 'hit...hit...hit and a spell...hit..hit..oh I won? Cool". Its BORING. It's not fast paced. It's not a moving dynamic battlefield. It's a button pressing rhythm game.
I dont care for what people keep posting. I spent a few thousand hours fighting those stupid allies in WoW, and I know how WoW pvp looks pretty well. WAR pvp doesnt look wowish. Period. it's not a problem for me. The problem is it doesnt look even close to WoW level so far...
As to 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, x vs. y etc... As far as I know there will be battleground scenarios in WAR, all those "domination", "capture the flag" and others (hehe, yes, Blizzard hasnt invented them, but they first implemented them to MMORPG - where are those guys who keep saying "WAR isnt WoW"?). Trust me, there will be alotta 1vs1 there. It's just the matter of tactics and the human nature...
Hmm, wasnt Guild Wars released 28/04/2005 and WoW - 23/11/2004?.. Ah, yes, BG's were implemented a bit later... May, afair... Or june... But they had been promissed long before...
