Shanda is a corporation, and this type of "control" isn't exclusive to Chinese companies... Furthermore, there are games that force you to play a single genre per class, I don't think this is control, it's simply the rules of the game.

I said this in another thread and I think it would be a much better option. Basically they should allow you to create a profile for you character that can be seen. You can state your real sex, age, etc. in that profile "if you want to". It will be optional.
